- Daydream4106950536200Fantastic food and culture tour. It’s a must!Ken was a fantastic tour guide providing lots of interesting information on the history and culture of Penang, with plenty of delicious local food stops. Thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend!
- TrinaC23100Bike, eat, repeatKen was a fantastic guide giving us the history of various stops and of course, getting us to sample plenty of delicious hawker food. The morning was packed with fun biking, weaving through the streets serenaded by the sweet 80 ballads from Ken’s portable boom box. Not a minute was wasted, we were captivated throughout and left with full bellies and smiles on our faces. Highly recommend!
- Coprolite5400Four hour extravaganzaKen was a brilliant organiser and host for our tour of old Penang. He organised a superb trip visiting China town the Indian quarter, the mosque, the Chinese secret society and many of the famous wall art . We had an Indian breakfast, a Malay and Chinese lunch along the way. Thank you Ken for a memorable trip and for your infectious enthusiasm for Penang. We would recommend this to visitors to the island.
- Ian M00Fantastic Tour of Penang by bike! This experience was a highlight of my recent visit to Malaysia. I highly recommend Ken's insightful and enjoyable tour. (Don't be put off by the cycling - It is very flat and an easy cycling experience - and if you prefer, Ken will arrange a trishaw for you to be driven around in!) I really enjoyed Ken's stories of the history of Penang - his insights into the historical parts of Georgetown and the communities there - and the historical photos and records he shared. He also helped take some great photos. The food stops were SO GOOD! All food and drinks Ken offered were included in the tour cost - and there was more than enough for breakfast and an early lunch. From an authentic char kway teow, to the Penang white coffee, Indian food and yum cha - it was a wonderful insight into local eateries off the tourist trail which I never would have found myself. Ken is very friendly and hospitable and keen to share his hometown with visitors. This tour is suitable for all ages. Ken adapted this tour to suit my schedule as I was arriving on the Quantum of the Seas. He was waiting for me as the ship docked. Super efficient and organised. I thoroughly enjoyed this experience. The cycling aspect was very comfortable and enjoyable and let us cover more ground than on foot. Highly recommended!
- ramonag74700Ramona GwynnAbsolutely amazingTour and the guide Ken was wonderful. We loved this tour for so many reason! Highly recommend this Tour.
- TheGGobblerr00Drool worthyWe've been on 2 tours with Metrobike previously with visiting family and enjoyed it each time. When we heard Ken was starting a new "Old St Food tour" we were excited and it didn't disappoint. Highly recommend this for foodies who love trying Penang delights you wouldn't ordinarily find on your own. Thanks again to Ken for his excellent service. We'll definitely be back!
- ScottCheah00Boey Cheah TourKen is the guy to ask for on these tours. He went extra time on explaining the history of Penang and his choices of local shops and restaurants was excellent and people really know him. Great job Ken!
- kelvinboey200300Great Tour of Georgetown!Awesome combination of food tour & Georgetown’s sights! Ken’s knowledge & stories is superb! We visited sights such as Chew clan pier, Khoo secret society temple, Uncle Lee oldest joss stick maker in the world plus yummy food - CKT outside Chew Pier entrance & famous prawn Hokkien mee. Highly recommended tour!
- LuvWandering00An exciting way to see Georgetown!Eddie provided a fun and exciting tour of Georgetown. 3 of us biked and my aunt was pedaled on a trishaw by a very impressive older gentleman; no problems with the group staying together. Not only did we have some great eats, but we learned of the history and culture of the area. I really enjoyed seeing the street art. I would highly recommend this tour; Eddie does a wonderful job!
- deminet00Amazing trishaw tourKen was a wonderful tour guide who shared with us interesting history of Penang and the places of interest we visited. Going by trishaw made it more exciting than the usual car / tour van. He brought us to taste the various yummyliciouz local hawker fare such as char kuey teow, bbq roasted pork and kueh kueh (food cost was included so we needn’t fork out our own money). It was a perfect morning for our short cruise stopover - food tour, street art & historical sites! Our kids loved this tour too! Thnks Ken!
- s_mondino00Lots of food and fun!Ken's tour was exactly what we had been looking for: lots of delicious interesting food that we would never have discovered on our own and some fun cycling - with music- inbetween- what a great way to discover Penang! Ken is really flexible, we rather wanted some history inbetween food than only street art and he chose some interesting points on the way with great stories to tell! Definitely recommended and well worth the money!!!
- JemmaC26000Street Food on BikeHad a great morning with Ken cycling around Georgetown sampling local cuisine and seeing some of the sights. Ken is very friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about the history of Georgetown. Highly recommended as best way to see the town.
- John P00Georgetown by Trishaw = GreatMy wife and I spent a most enjoyable morning exploring old Georgetown with Ken; we were rode trishaws while Ken was on his bike. It was most enjoyable and very interesting: viewing street art, visiting temples and eating tasty food (and drink). Ken is very knowledgeable and extremely pleasant to be with; he also runs an efficient and professional operation. Definately to be recommended.
- hannsonhe00Affordable Rate of Local GuideFriendly trishaw uncle with friendly customer service and also helpful. They provide a reasonable rate and also recommended us some famous local sites to visit.
- E8707EZjohnh00Great way to see and learn about the cityJeff was our guide, he brings a lot of energy and is great fun! He’s very knowledgeable about the area and Malaysia in general. I’d recommend doing this tour at the beginning of your trip to Penang as we did it after spending two days here which meant we’d seen some of the highlights but Jeff tailored the tour accordingly (we were the only two on the tour today). You see the best of the street art, know where the sites to see are so you can return after the tour, and Jeff gave us great recommendations on where to eat. We finished the tour in a food hawker market. I had mentioned to Jeff I liked Chinese chicken/pork buns and he snuck off during lunch to find me some - such a lovely gesture, top man, Jeff.

The guide was friendly and spoke good English. the tour it started well with an overview of the history of Penang. There were two of us on the tour. The guide had loud music on his bike which was embarrassing. He did turn it off when I said we had had enough. After the Chew Jetty we didn’t really have much of a quality tour. It was more like a cycle ride around the area without much stopping - when we did, there wasn’t really any depth to it. There wasn’t much quality talking.
But he was exceptionally friendly and such a nice guy.
Maybe we had high expectations but on reflection the price was probably too much for the experience. We have certainly experienced better tours elsewhere.

My apology that our back up tour guide on CNY did not meet to your expectation.
We really felt sorry because our key heritage guides are not available in CNY. In addition, not to disappoint the guests with booking cancellation, we accepted the booking order.
To ensure this not happening in future, we will take some corrective actions to avoid our mistake.
My apology in overlooking on this matter.
Thank you for your feedback

My family of four (with 7 and 3 year old) had a wonderful tour with Ken as our guide. Right from the day we booked, Ken reached out and connected with us on WhatsApp, and helped answer questions and kept us up to date on plans. He arranged to pick us up from our hotel in our trishaws since it was just us that morning. That made for an exciting start to our day - the kids were delighted to choose which one they would ride on. We then got to learn about the history and heritage of Penang, taste local favorites, snap some lovely photos and ride around on the cute trishaws. Ken was very kind and considerate of our kids’ needs - making sure we took frequent breaks, stayed in the shade and got to eat and drink in between. Our trishaw drivers were also very kind and everyone took extra caution when crossing busy streets and thoroughfare. Once when our trishaws got separated, Ken even managed to expertly maneuver back and forth and got us back together haha. I was quite impressed. All in all a fantastic first tour with our kids. I would highly recommend it for young families like ours.

Ken was a very knowledgeable guide. We were a party of 7 including older grandparents (on a trishaw) and three grandchildren aged 10, 13 and 15 years. Ken made sure we were safe and comfortable at all times - with high visibility vests, helmets and bottled water. He constantly checked on everyone. We felt safe cycling the streets of Penang with him. Learning the history and enjoying the famous food of Penang on bikes was really fun. Thank you so much, Ken.

What a fun day we had with Ken! For a whole morning Ken took us around Georgetown and explained all the sights and history. He is very knowledgeable and explained everything in detail - including pictures and maps for clarification.
We told him we like to taste local flavors as well, and since we were the only guests that day he really took the time to have us try many different foods.
A great experience that we definetely recommend.

Our guide Ken was absolutely wonderful. We spent a delightful morning riding safely around Georgetown with his guidance and knowledge of the history of this vibrant town. Ken has a deep knowledge of the history of the area, different cultures and customs. We got to see inside some special temples, and try different foods from the market. There were no pressures at all and Ken was happy to answer all questions. Highly recommended. The whole town ride is flat with no hills so a very easy ride.

I cannot recommend this tour highly enough. Ken provided a fantastic morning of sightseeing, food tasting and expert knowledge. The cycling was great fun and Ken made sure we were safe at all times. If you do one thing whilst in Penang, do this! Thanks again Ken.

Having read such consistently wonderful reviews on this tour I am disappointed and regretful that we did not have such an experience.
Why? Re-reading the reviews the common thread is Ken. We did not get him... Why? We did not book in advance (the details say you can book with a few hours notice- we would not recommend this!) it would seem that the stand in's are a good way to take your cash but not a good way of getting a quality experience.
We had a Trishaw each (it was far too small to fit two westerners in one). When The second Trishaw driver turned up he was either drunk or mad, either way he was totally 'off the wall.' He insisted on taking us to Chinese temple upon Chinese temple, spoke zero English so kept barking at us to get out and 'take photo.' The reason for this is because they are on an hourly rate so the longer they can string out your tour the more they earn. He prodded my parter in the shoulder and shouted down his ear for over three hours. We were both vexed by the end. He meant well I'm sure but it totally ruined the experience. Neither knew how to use the audioguides. Lucky ken was on the phone to explain, half the problem was that they had also forgotten to give us a city map so none of the numbers on the audio had any reference to anywhere until we finally worked it out.
God knows how but somehow we hung on in there but decided to opt out a lift back to the hotel as we just wanted to have some peace. We stopped at The Perekan mansion and called it a day there. They gave us a price, we paid and went our separate ways. So we thought....5 minutes later there was lots of shouting (they speak exceptionally loud) and they had followed us in, interrupted our tour (so embarrassing) and was speaking in Chinese to the guide... Basically saying they wanted more money we hadn't paid enough. This lasted about 5 minutes and felt an eternity. We had about 4 museum staff trying to help and sort it. We felt like 2 criminals, we paid the price they had said but apparently they now wanted more (I did not have a clue what was owed given that we had overrun the standard time and had the extra Trishaw). We called Ken he did not answer or reply. We asked one of the drivers to call Ken and he then changed his mind and decided everything was ok.
I was vexed. Hot, sweaty and disturbed by the entire experience. I was also disappointed that Ken never bothered to call back- did not feel valued at all. Our experience is not like the others on here.
I would not recommend and I would not repeat this again unless I could guarantee to get a decent driver that could speak a little English and knows a bit about what the tour should contain ( we didn't even cover the food places). I guess they have sacrificed quality by trying to sell more tours and put any driver in there- a mistake!!
Hope this helps?
Tip- when you book ask to go with Ken and if it's not him wait for another day.
Tip 2-Get a price so you don't end up in the circus that we did.
Tip 3- unless you are 5ft and 6 stone get a Trishaw each they are too small to share.
Tip 4- don't go on a Sunday 3 of the 11 Places were shut
Tip 5- ensure the driver sticks to the designated route you can opt for extras at the end of you feel like more... We took over 3 hours just trying to get round the basic 11 places (3 of which were shut)
Knowledge beforehand should help you not make the same mistakes as us.

We had heard Ken's tours were a bit amazingly good so we though we would try it out on our only day ashore in Penang and we were not disappointed at all! Ken was there at the cruise terminal right on time to pick us up and lead us to our bikes and rickshaw and from there with his friendly nature, smile and great music we knew we had chosen well.
Ken's tour includes great history on George town and lots of food stop for truly authentic, tasty and very safe eating.
Thanks Ken, we will stay in touch!
