Food trail with the amazing Lakshmi
Food trail of Tamil Quarter with the excellent Lakshmi! What an amazing evening of food and drink with an incredible guide who’s knowledge of the area, food and General Indian culture was unrivalled by other guides we have had. Couldn’t recommend this more! As we were able to see and taste food we would never had found on our own.

Once upon a time in Pondicherry
After a long day spent at Auroville, we rushed for our pre booked Storytrails walk through the French quarters of Pondicherry. We were a family of six including a teenager,a child and a grand mom. We were greeted by Priya who was going to be our storyteller for the walk at the designated spot. There was this instant connection that Priya was able to strike with the whole group. The energies and passion was palpable and mutual. She kept in mind the mixed group and paced the walk accordingly. Her storytelling kept us engaged and curious. She knew what she was doing and that did not create a single dull moment. We were able to walk through the White town( as it’s called) inhaling the smells and soaking in the sights ,sounds and reliving the history. I greatly recommend the Storytrails for everyone and plan to take a tour whenever I visit a place where they have a story to tell.

      French connection trail
Great way to start your stay and familiarize yourself with the French-Tamil-British history of Pondicherry. My trail guide- Priya, was knowledgeable, well articulated and a wonderful host. Though the town is gorgeous on its own, this walk helped add character and culture to everyday facades and sneak a peek behind the mundane.

      World class walking tour
I have always missed professional walking tours in India. This was a great experience that vividly brought out the French Connection of Pondicherry. The guide was pleasing, well informed and with a clear delivery. The guide audio system was perfect. The group was from all countries and made for good company. Drinking Water and coffee provided. Good investment. Highly recommend.

      Delightful 2 hours
Priya, our guide, was on the ball from the start when our group of twelve assembled. She set the ball rolling right through the French Colony with tales of treason, debauchery, revolution, betrayal, independence and the initial seeds of Auroville that were first sown in Pondicherry. Eye opener and a half, must do walk.

      Interesting stroll through Pondy
The very lovely Priya greeted us with water and a smile. We were in a group of 17 and were supplied with ear pieces all the better to hear her with. What a fascinating town, the sea front and old town made you think you were in the South of France. So many stories, so many sights we so enjoyed the afternoon.

      Fantastic Tour
Ms. Priya was a fantastic host, with a very professional delivery and a lot of knowledge. I highly recommend doing this trail at the start of your Pondicherry adventure so you can get your bearings in the old town and learn about the vast history. Great value for money and an excellent host. Wish we had done one of these in Chennai also.

      A must do!
Thank you Priya for such an informative and engaging 2 hour tour through the French Quarters. It really made our visit to Pondicherry meaningful and gave all the places such a context in history. Priya is very articulate and knowledgable and really held our attention. My 12 year old daughter also really enjoyed it. Highly recommend.

A great way to spend two hours in the morning.....
I have been to Pondicherry quite a lot but this was my first guided tour of white town and found it to be extremely interesting and fun. The feuds between the Brits and the French take up most of the tour, and connecting the dots to the buildings and those feuds makes it much more interesting.

      French Connections
After my European experience with walking tours I always seek such tours in different places as they not only bring you closer to the richess of culture, but a place literally comes to life...... So contrary to history books which just load one with information.... We came across details of this tour at Palais de Mahe.... I must say that Pria was a delight to be with right through the two hours that we spent with her. She was full of wonderful stories of the past that is Pondicherry. Absolutely everyone who is a tourist must must do this trip.... Thank you Pria we were mesmerized

We booked a group trail for French Connection. This was my first trail tour, and the experience was mind-blowing. Our guide, Mrs Akila, is an amazing story teller and mesmerized the group with the French story in Pondicherry. She wonderfully narrated a connection of the landmarks, streets and buildings in White Town to the tales of the Generals, gossips of French bourgeois, history of the Anglo French rivalries in South India, stories of the Indian freedom movement, and the facts about the French architecture.
While Pondicherry remains a place for French Cuisine, serene beaches and the Aurobindo Ashram, French Connection trail by Storytrails tops them all as a must do activity.

Akila had taken us around Chennai learning about the history of the British and the East India Company in Chennai and so in Pondicherry we heard all about the French in India.
Akila is a gifted storyteller who loves her subject and all her fascinating stories gave you a depth of information that you would never get from an ordinary guide. Her research into the history of Pondicherry brought everything to life and it was wonderful to see that some of the French-era buildings were being refurbished, many as hotels and guest houses or government buildings.
Our tour finished with a wonderful Indian coffee from a street stall and a farewell to a lovely lady who already seemed like a good friend.

It was an extremely well curated walk made really interesting with many anecdotes and stories from Priya. Having been a student of History I must say that she had done her research in depth & articulated it so well.A passionate storyteller & at the same time very interactive & receptive. Not to forget one of the best filter coffee at the end at KBS ! One could clearly visualise the Pondicherry of earlier times after this walk.

A colleague and I took this tour, and it turned out to be amazing. The tour guide and story teller Priya is obviously passionate about her job, and is incredibly knowledgable about the area and it's history. He story telling is interesting, and she invites discussion and dialogue that make this more like a walk with a friend.

We had a great evening with Priya including a couple of unexpected interruptions which added extra colour to the stories.
I've been on the Chennai trail and intend to go on the Madurai one too. Love the concept as well as being able to potter along the streets learning about things you would never have discovered otherwise.
Priya went above and beyond in terms of customer service and it was a pleasure to meet her.
