Good vibes good people in an amazing sea, highly recommended ! Don’t select the windy weather days as they might need to cancel it

This is a SCAM! Do not book this excursion. It is a SCAM! I went to THREE different “meeting” places. Every place was just a random place. 1) a store called Euro Spin: nothing/nobody 2) Stazione: nobody/nothing 3) Otranto center: nothing/nobody Three different notices on the app say to “meet” at these three places but there is no actual real place to meet. Clever scam!

The experience is amazing, yet I would not recommend Salento Outdoor Experience. We had reserved and paid for our family of 4, yet when we arrived there was only kayaks seats for 3. They told us it is either you fit the 4 of you on a 3 person kayak either you don't go. Really bad planning, organization and communication. I then complained and at least asked for the refund of one of the children ticket, considering that the 3 hour trip was super uncomfortable for all of us. They said ok, but in the end, despite several reminders never did. I withhold my review until now, but would share it for the future.

Don't bother. Link to and photo of meeting point were wildly inaccurate. Nobody picked up the phone. We arrived early and looked around / called for almost an hour. A waste of a day. Weather was perfect - high 20s and no wind so they can't use bad weather as an excuse. They had my number and email but didn't get in touch. Utterly disappointing.

Do not book on this tour - my partner and I booked this tour, but no one turned up to meet us. We tried phoning the company multiple times - no answer. We walked to various places where the meeting point could have been - no one there. No prior notification, and no subsequent contact. Please save yourself the time and money; don't book on this tour with this company.

Operator sent a message one hour before to cancel, I was already on the road on my way there. You will most probably be let down and disappointed during your holiday if you book a kayak trip with them.

The company cancelled but didn’t let us know anything. We called over 8 times beforehand (we made the appointment for 15:00 and started calling on 9 o clock). We read negative feedback about them cancelling so we wanted to be sure before driving for hours. They didn’t respond to anything. It was only áfter 15:00 that they finally replied via WhatsApp (and not even to the person who made the reservation) that all excursions were cancelled that day. The person who made the reservation didn’t got a reply or email about the cancellation. It was a very bad experience and I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone.

As we were about to arrive for the tour, after a lengthy taxi ride ($200 EU), the tour cancelled on us via voicemail. They claimed in the voice mail and on the phone that the weather was bad. It was sunny, 81 degrees F, and the seas were incredibly calm. Though they have promised our money back (which we await the refund notice), we lost out on a tour that we really wanted to take and cannot rebook due to travel home. The taxi ride was paid for both directions - back to our lodging, 45km away so could not be refunded. Very disappointed in this group.

Unfortunately the guide didn’t turn up. Read the previous review where the guide didn’t turn up but I’m a glass half full person! Texted the guide beforehand, as the sea looked a bit rough, just to be sure it was still on. To be fair did get a response “which tour and which location”, which didn’t fill me with hope ! Replied and rang but no further messages. Turned up anyway and another tour guide rang as well. No response. Shame really all they need to do was text me and say they’ve cancelled. No worries we would have understood and stayed in the restaurant drinking wine. Went back and drank wine anyway and requested a refund which was given a couple of days later. The business cancelled our event 15 minutes AFTER the meeting time, with no information or confirmation provided ahead of time. The excuse was “weather”. The day was bright blue skies, hot and sunny with no more than a light breeze and almost no swell. More likely, the organisers simply couldn’t be bothered to get out of bed for a couples kayaking tour of the caves. Pathetic attitude and very poor communication. We were looking forward to this excursion and it put a dent in our holiday.

What a massive mess. Operator changed the tour to kayaks overnight and we accepted no problem. We arrived at meeting point and the weather was terrible and definitely unsafe for a kayak trip on the open sea. there were to another couples with us and two guides. After much discussion we attempted to go out on the tour and ALL guests returned after about 100m - very unsafe conditions and no regard for our wellbeing. The one couple were around 35 years old and the other four of us in the 58 to 65 age group. The fun started when I tried to get my refund. I was told I "cancelled within 24 hours" ; "I was not able to manage the excursion physically" ; "and I cancelled the trip so no refund". I have proof that the operator first cancelled the trip and I cancelled on my return from the aborted tour. The operator was extremely tardy in processing my refund process and I eventually received my refund because I went on Viator live chat help line and that did the trick. not a great experience in very unsafe environment. Was not fun and the fact that all the guests returned together was proof of unsuitable conditions.

Not very happy with TripAdvisor not emailing that the activity had been cancelled by the operator the morning of due to wind. Spent 3 hours traveling to and from meeting location.

Sadly the tour operators did not show up. We chatted with a man who had his sail boat in the same area and he said this happens often. Do not recommend.

Booked via another popular site that sells experience and also a no show. This seems to be a recurring theme. Went to the meeting point and waited 1 hour before leaving. We left several messages via the website and WhatsApp group the host had created the night beforehand confirming the trip. There was no communication whatsoever. The host messaged via the website a few hours after the expected start time saying the trip was cancelled due to strong winds. The winds didn’t seem too strong to me, but I’m no kayaking expert so let’s accept this as true. This is completely understandable as the weather can change quickly and without notice if it were communicated in a reasonable way. What irks me is the message also said ‘we messaged about this this morning’. This is a lie. There were zero messages. And even though I’m sure it was not, if we say that that was a simple mistake (maybe the message didn’t go properly) we sent several messages giving the host an opportunity to respond saying it was cancelled which they chose to ignore.
