11/10 - definitely recommend any of the Life in Loja tours!
Jona was a fantastic host and guide! I took the Loja walking tour and Saraguro tour; his robust historical, cultural and contemporary knowledge demonstrates deep expertise and study. He easily flexes a planned tour based on the interests of his party. And he has strong relationships with people everywhere, clearly built on mutual respect. But most importantly, he truly HOSTS a tour - I felt fully comfortable that he had a plan (and contingencies) and was able to just relax and learn. 11/10 - definitely recommend any of the Life in Loja tours.

Day trips to Saraguro and Zamora
During our recent vacation to Loja we were fortunate to be able to participate in two of Jonathan’s excellent day tours. One day we spent in & around Saraguro and another day in the vicinity of Zamora. Jonathan had the day in Saraguro well-planned and we enjoyed the windy drive upwards through the Andes, through beautiful pastoral mountain scenery, stopping for fresh hot tortillas along the way. Walking through the charming town, he explained its colorful history, religion & culture. More off-the-beaten-path, we felt privileged to visit the Inka Wasi weaving studio, as well as the incredible Kapak micro-brewery. Jonathan’s special relationship with the indigenous communities provides a deeper understanding of their rich culture and views of the modern world. Zamora was a completely different experience. Up and over the Andes again, we drove through breathtaking scenery of pristine mountains, rivers and waterfalls. Jonathan was able to adapt his itinerary to suit our needs and abilities, We had a wonderful day exploring scenic overlooks, waterfalls, giant trees, tasting roadside guarapo, and walking the beautiful Malecon of Zamora. Jonathan’s friend Paula was our careful driver both days. Her humor and good spirits added greatly to our enjoyment as well. It was a honor and a privilege to spend the 2 days with Jonathan and share his knowledge and passion for his country. These Tours were definitely a highlight to our trip, and we whole-heartedly recommend Jonathan to be your guide for an unforgettable day.

        Two day tour
We went on the two day tour with Jonathan. The first day we walked around the centro and he told us about the history and customs of Loja. On the second day we had a tour of the neighborhoods and went to see the wind turbines at Villonaco. Beautiful views of the valley. We highly recommend Jonathon's tours, as he is very friendly and knowledgeable. We are here on an exploratory trip and Jonathon gave us a lot of information as we plan to return in two months and make Loja our full time home. Thanks Jonathon.

        Loja city and province
If you speak English you will not really "see" Loja city and province without a tour from Jona. He has fantastic knowledge of the area and its history. He also has deep ties to people in the city and surrounding indigenous communities. This mutual respect will allow you to experience the area like nothing else. I wish I could give more than 5 stars

        Coffee farm tour
We did the Coffee farm tour. It was fantastic! Jonathan was a great guide and translator. Miguel, the farmer, was kind and went through the entire process of the coffee farm, from a tour of the coffee plants, harvest, drying, etc. Finished off by a tasting. We had a great time and would highly recommend!

Not your average tour. I enjoyed it so much Im looking forward to doing the next tour. It was very interesting and informative. His english is good and we were able to see places, just because Jonathan (the guide) has the contacts. Well done, worth every cent.

To really know coffee you need two tours and these are the best
I took two different coffee tours with Jona and both were fun and informative. The first was a coffee tasting tour that exposed me to the best baristas in Loja and allowed me to compare different brewing techniques to get the best flavored cup. The second expereince was of an organic coffee farm where I learned about the many different factors involved in growing and processing a great bean. I learned a lot on both tours and now can't imagine drinking any other kind of coffee except Lojano. Perhaps most important - I know very little Spanish so Jona's interpreting service was essential for me to understand what I was hearing from the coffee experts. I strongly recommend both of these tours offered by "Life in Loja" to anyone visiting the city.

        Tour with Jona
I did one of Jona's walking tours last summer. His knowledge of the history of the area is phenomenal, and he's a friendly and flexible guide. I know his expansion of his business will continue to provide the same high-quality experience I received.

Jonathan was highly recommended by friends who had toured Loja with him. The two of us had only a couple of hours, but we were so glad to be able to do the Cultural Walking Tour of Loja with him.

Jonathan has excellent English language skills and he’s very knowledgeable about Ecuador and its history. You can tell that Jonathon loves Loja and is passionate about the city and all the city does for its people, both culturally and environmentally.

We very much enjoyed the 2 hours we spent with and would highly recommend him as a guide.

Drizzle didn't seem to bother Jona (guide) who was waiting for us when we arrived a little late. We heard good stories and information which captivated us from the beginning to the end of the tour.
Jona was very patient. he didn't rush us and let us take photos

The best days to take the tour is during the week because more places are open to have access to view.

To finish Jona to the cafeteria where we finished with (coffee tasting) .

Great walking tour of Loja with Jona. Jona knows Loja very well and our family really enjoyed learning about his beautiful home city. Jona is very flexible and will ensure that everyone enjoys. We also did a super coffee farm tour in Vilcabamba with Jona that was also a lot of fun and he took us to a lovely hidden river restaurant. Jona is very friendly and helpful and is a wealth of knowledge about visiting and living in Ecuador. Jona also gave us a tour of the different residential areas in Loja. Many Thanks Jona for all your help and look forward to seeing you again soon, Hasta Luego Steve

Highly, HIGHLY, recommend doing this cultural, historical walking tour with Life in Loja if you ever find yourself there! There are so many amazing facts we learned and places we got to see that we never would have known about without this tour. I feel like my family really got to know this city in a meaningful way. The day before the tour, our family had walked right by some of the places Jona took us, but we hadn't really understood the significance of what was right in front of us.
Besides being a wealth of historical information, Jona was kind enough to point us to the best coffee shop, saying "it would be a SIN to leave Loja without trying Loja coffee!" and also helped us find a wonderful person to drive our family to Cuenca.
Thank so much to Jona for teaching my family so much about Loja!

Jona was great showing my friend and I around different coffee shops where we got to learn about the coffee. My friend I was with can only speak English and Jonathan’s English is perfect so for those that need an English speaker you have a great tour guide here. We loved jona!

Worthwhile taking this 2 hour walking tour. We heard interesting facts and visited locations that not everybody knows. Jona was very considerate, allowing us to take photos, taking his time to move onto the next place. I'm already looking for the next tour to take.

Several friends and I spent just I we two days with Jona as our guide to Loja and surrounding areas. Jona was a marvelous source of insightful information about all that he was showing us, so much more than just a “tour guide”! With him we came to understand both the happy and darker sides of Loja’s history, he allowed us to experience the complex reality of growing a coffee bean (organically) to enjoying its particular flavor in our morning cup of coffee, and he led us into the High Amazon (Parque Nacional Podocarpus) where we were able to deeply enjoy the deep green world of Amazonia and its magnificent rivers and cascades.
Jona’s English-language skills are excellent, which made it effortless for us to follow his explanations along the way.

I took a few different tours with Jona in August of this year. He is an amazing tour guide with a huge knowledge base and a passion for the city and the region! He catered our tour to our personal interests and organized everything in a way that allowed me to see the most possible in my time frame without ever feeling rushed or that I was missing something. He made my time so much more pleasant and efficient while I was visiting Ecuador for the first time! Highly recommend his services for his integrity, knowledge, passion and sense of fun! You won't find better! Will use his services on my next trip for sure!

We were visiting Loja for a long weekend and decided to sign up for the walking tour. We are really glad that we did! Jonathan was an amazing guide and we learned much about the city and its people. We were impressed with Loja's efforts to be environmentally friendly with recycling, buried electric lines, and windmills. Jonathan was also very knowledgeable about the history of Ecuador and we learned more on his tour than we expected. We appreciated his very good English language skills as it was easy to understand him. Jonathan pointed out his favorite coffee shops and cafes during the walk, some of which we visited after our tour and enjoyed.

We would highly recommend a visit to Loja and this tour!
