- GreenTraveller8810 contributionsAvoid as they are only interested in your money. This company is more focused on profit than customer service. - johnad9680 contributionsLow key, relaxed, and great funWow ! A magical night on the Geiranger fjord During the Geiranger Light Festival we had an interesting walk down along the River staircase with the icy water of the Geiranger river and in along the shoreline in the village ... and then there was a 10:30pm FJORD EXCURSION !!! on a super-quiet catamaran. On the way out from the narrow beams of light in the village centre it became slowly darker and we were looking at the blueish white ice "curtains" which are actually the Seven Sisters waterfalls. Out near Skageflå the boat lay still for a while in the shadow of the mountains and we experienced a fine jazz concert on the upper deck. I found it rather cool that we could actually see the shining ice clad waterfalls behind us and the contours of jagged peaks above us. As the boat slowly returned to Geiranger we saw why .The light in the sky and on the waterfalls was so strong as the full moon was shining through the clouds !!Written March 18, 2024
- 975kamilad0 contributionsThe best experience on our girl tripIn July, we came to this resort for a girl's trip. We tried an adrenaline-pumping zipline over a rock with a waterfall, and then continued on to a fun via ferrata. The whole experience was breathtaking. The staff were very nice and very helpful. Thank you very much for a great experience.Written August 5, 2023
- LP43590 contributionsGeiranger Executive Panorama BusGeiranger Executive Panorama Bus. I had wanted a booking for 21 July 2023 but due to the high numbers of cruise passengers in port on that day I was not able to get a booking so I booked for 22 July 2023. I received an email at 5.30pm 21 July advising they had technical issues and would be cancelling the trip. There were no other options. I was extremely disappointed. I felt they could have done more to get a substitute bus. Definitely do not recommend relying on this company.Written July 28, 2023
- ingolstadt10 contributionsNever again Geiranger Fjordservice CompanyI have booked the cruise Alesund Geiranger for 2 pax with the company Geiranger Fjordservice.Unfortunatly I made a mistake during the booking. I took the departure at 8 30, but I forgot that the cruiseship would arrive at Alesund at 9 00 . So I wrote them one day before to cancel the trip and asked them to refund the amount of 295 Euro. They wrote back, that it was a non refundable ticket and so they would not make a refund. That`s it. The only thing they would do is to change the traveldate. That makes no sense at all because I was only that day in Alesund. I wrote them all to gether 4 times , but at last I did not get even an answer. So I can not recommend this company at all .If somebody plans to choose this company I recommend to think about this decision twice before booking!!!Written July 13, 2023
- KayDawn970 contributionsZip Line and via FerrataA great time. If you haven’t done a lot of climbing with zip lines or climbing on your own then you may want to skip via ferrata and just do the zip line. Via ferrata was fun and there was a point where you could choose to go to the zip line or keep climbing a bit more. It was tiring but so good. It was wet everywhere when I went from the waterfall and it had been raining. The zip lines were great after all the climbing. None are super long but it’s absolutely gorgeous out here. If you have people with you that don’t want to do the zip line/via ferrata, they would be able to see you almost the whole time. My friends could see me all but for the very beginning and the first and last zip line. They got some great pics of me too. Definitely recommend this especially if you’re into zip lines/zip line parks or climbing of sorts.Written July 5, 2023
- davetheguide0 contributionsBeware of using this company for the booking of a RIB tourWhat a disaster this nearly was. We booked and paid for a RIB tour through this company months in advance of our visit to Norway. When we arrived on site, we were told they had no record of our reservation and could not accommodate us. The young woman who worked towards accommodating us (her name may have been Katrin Schirmer) tried very hard to help. She claimed that the company acts only as an agent for the RIB tours. She claimed that our reservation was made before the agency digitized its reservations. The manager/owner of the company apparently forgot to move over our reservation to their new digital system and we slipped through the cracks. This is completely unacceptable - especially for an agency that doesn't even provide the product. They had no value-added contribution whatsoever. In defense of the young woman who helped us (I think her name may have been Katrin) she ran around looking for another RIB tour vendor who could accommodate us last minute. And she did find one for us, though we had to wait for more than one hour before our originally scheduled time. The agency credited us for the money we paid them (but we received on additional compensation) and then we had to pay directly to another supplier for the RIB tour. In sort, avoid this agency entirely. Book your RIB tour through a company called BONSEYE directly.Written September 1, 2022
- olka660 contributionsGreat ebike tour to Dalsnibba viewpointBeing on a cruise ship tour we borrowed 2 ebikes for having a trip up to Dalsnibba viewpoint. Katrin served us with 2 great ebikes. Since we had to make 1500 m difference in altitude she equipped us with 2 batteries for each bike to eliminate any risk running out of power. The tour was marvellous although the view on Dalsnibba was foggy. Temperature was also down to 2 degrees Centigrade there. We enjoyed the tour very much and we were able to manage the entire tour without any of the additional batteries. We‘d like to thank Katrin for her excellent service and we can recommend Geirangerfjordservice without exception. Since we are still stunned from the tour for sure we will be back….Written August 14, 2022

- jomarlygreu0 contributionsEl-bike to Dalsnibba (1478m above sea)Amazing and unique bike-ride from Geiranger to Dalsnibba, a 1478 meter climb! The electric motor will do almost all of the work uphill, so this is a trip for non-cyclists as well. On the hilltop, there is a Cafe/shop, and a stunning view! Maybe the best part is that you are going downhill again, for 21 km! Check the weather-report beforehand - low-hanging clouds will block som of the beautiful view. Also, it is a lot colder on the top than on sea level - you will look down on some glaciers when at the top! I reserved the bike online on the Geiranger Fjordservice homepage, but you can rent on site (if they're not out of bikes). Make sure to get a backup battery if you are going all the way to the top - you will need it. The trip took me 4 hours, including lots of breaks and stops to enjoy the view. If 1478m sounds too much, you can ride the el-bike to Ørnesvingen or Flydalsjuvet in stead. Be careful and considerate to the cars and campers sharing the road. On the last part of the road to Dalsnibba, there is a tollbooth - but no charge for bicycles.Written July 11, 2021

- linagZ794FB0 contributionsGreat experience - kayakingWe rented a double kayak and absolutely loved the experience! We were given thorough instructions so felt quite safe even though we've only done it once before (and it was a long time ago). We spent an amazing hour kayaking in the fjord and enjoying the scenery. The only thing I did not like was the smell of old sweat the life vests had.Written July 24, 2020

- 2togoNebraska0 contributionsSpectacular Customer ServiceIn September we took the Highlight Dalsnibba/ Skywalk bus. When I initially booked this tour, we were scheduled to take a morning ferry out of Alesund. The ferry service cancelled this morning ferry (end of busy season) and our only option was a bus from Alesund to Hellesylt and then a ferry to Geiranger. This travel put us into Geiranger 10 minutes after the bus was to leave. I corresponded with the fjordservice about my situation and they offered to hold the bus for us! Which they did! This tour is also great. Wonderful scenery! View from Flydalsjuvet of the fjord is beautiful. It had snowed in the mountains so we were not able to go all the way to Dalsnibba but instead we were able to see some of the Eagle Road!Written October 22, 2019
- Wodja-Fink0 contributionsOne of our Norwegian HighlightsOur cruise stopover at Geiranger was bookmarked with a one-hour RIB adventure booked with this excellent company. We were met outside the Information Centre and led to a large shed where they have scores of waterproof suits for customers to zip themselves into. All sizes are catered for...believe me! Once suited (not booted so wear appropriate footwear) we were led through the town to the jetty where Ribby McRibface was waiting for us. The RIB cruised slowly out of the end of the Fjord before selecting Warp factor 6 and zig-zagging across the Fjord. If a boat passed in the opposite direction this was the green light for us to do some serious wake jumping! Great fun. We toured around most of the end of Geiranger Fjord and got up close and personal with a number of waterfalls, including the famous Seven Sisters. The driver gave an excellent commentary throughout the one-hour trip. This was a highlight of our holiday. Thanks to all concerned. Highly recommended.Written September 30, 2019

This was our very first cruise in Norway, and Jamie W. and I knew this would be a defining journey for us because this was all about the fjords and waterfalls. Man, it was long, nine hours. That's because Norway is a lot bigger than we thought especially all the snaking channels of fjords in this part of the country. This cruise went through three of them, the most notable being the Geirangerfjord which was apparently the inspiration for the movie "Frozen". That factoid didn't mean much to me since I've never seen it, so I let it go, let it go, let it go... It was a good thing the boat itself was quite comfortable, a catamaran that accommodated up to 147 passengers.
There was scarcely forty people on our cruise, so space was not an issue. Honestly, that was rather irrelevant because we spent most of our time bouncing out of our seats to go outside and take photos. It was just way too cold and windy to stay out on the deck for extended periods of time. There were some remarkable waterfalls to record like The Seven Sisters and The Suitor, which face each other in some bucolic kind of aquatic courtship. After about 3-1/2 hours, we arrived in the tiny tourist hamlet of Geiranger where we were given two hours to explore. That was a bit of a stretch as there was only one worthwhile sight.
That would be the thundering torrent coursing through the middle of town. It certainly gave us enough time to have lunch. Yes indeed, it was 3-1/2 hours back to Alesund, but it seemed faster since we had already exhausted our Instagram moments. We did find out that Geiranger is under the constant threat of a mountain that is about to erode into the fjord. Gee, you couldn't tell from the residents who were working there, but gee, I would've left a bigger tip. Like everything else, the trip was a bit pricey at 1,650 NOK for a round trip or $170 in US dollars. But hey, the fjord cruise is a great introduction to what makes Norway so unique in this world.

Ed and Jamie - great feed back on our Fjordcruise from Ålesund to Geiranger. Thank you. We have been working on this tour the last couple years and still think it is a fantastic way to experience the Fjords and the Geirangerfjord by starting in Ålesund. The tour by boat is 3 hours one way and as you mention you past by 3 Fjords and lot of stunning Highlights - waterfall, narrow passages. We hope our audio guide enhanced the sights and gave you lot of information too. Thank you and welcome back.

We did this boat trip from Geiranger and enjoyed seeing the fjord from the water. It was a cool day (even though it was July) but for most of the trip, it was sunny. The audio guides provided worked well and there was plenty of space on the boat (although less outside as most people stayed out of the cabin area). The fjord is beautiful and seeing it from the water really gave us a great perspective.

Not an extremely impressive tour. Maybe we had bad luck with weather and visibility but we were disappointed. The inside of the boat was cramped, food/drinks were underwhelming. The sites we saw (when we could see) were very nice though and worth seeing. But don’t have extremely high expectations for the tour itself, especially for the price.

We went on the 1 h Fjord sightseeing by boat tour with drop of possibility for Skagefla Hike. Boat was really crowded (good weather) and there were not enough working audio guides. The App was not working and the crew was not helping. So all in all it was a very expensive, fairly short tour down the Fjord, with no information what so ever provided. We went to the ticket Center afterwards, to complain about the missing audio guides and got nothing expect a very unfriendly woman, telling us we should have downloaded the app. The fjord is still amazing, but I would not recommend going out with this company!! To expensive, no service, unfriendly, basically nothing in return..

We are sorry for your experience. During the summer month we have a extra person working on our boats to serve our customers. It is correct we do not have enough audio guides working as we fading them out due to the old system. The App system will be the way to go. Our service person is helping guest to download the app and connect. this has been working fine during summer.

The slower pace of this trip and the less crowded cruise than the other boats was delightful. We all sat back and listened to the noise of the waterfalls going up close while the captain told stores about the falls and farms. We got very close to the waterfall and had opportunities for spectacular photos. It was a beautiful day so no need for protective clothing and sunning on the deck was fabulous.

We took the car onto the boat so that we could drive from Geiranger back to Stranda.
A super beautiful trip through the fjords.
On the upper deck we could see everything clearly. But now it wasn't that busy.
There are plastic chairs on the upper deck, so you have to move around a bit.
We were told something about an audio tour, but we missed that. Geiranger is a small village with a few tourist shops and some restaurants. If you are there at the same time as a large cruise ship, it will probably be less fun.
If you go by car, take route 63 to the viewpoint. It's fantastic (in clear weather)

What more can be said about a boat tour on a Norwegian Fjord which hasn’t been said many, many times?
We have taken several such tours and even tours on the very same Fjord, the same area, they are all different. Depending on the guide and the captain, you may get closer to waterfalls or abandoned fishing huts or cabins.
Also, and that is very important, the time of the year. But regardless, they are all breathtakingly wonderful.

Booked the full day cruise from Alesund to Geiranger fjord and return trip. Lunch and afternoon snacks provided. Bus trip to view point at Geiranger. Well planned and both park rangers did a good job sharing stories and geographical knowledge of fjords and glaciers.

Hi so nice to get your feedback and hear about the great experience you had on our Wintercruise from Ålesund to Geiranger. The combination of the boat cruise with the Fjordrangers and the waterfall walk, bus trip and visit of the Exhibition upon arrival in Geiranger give you allround Geiranger experience.

We took the Fjordcruise from Ålesund to Geiranger and back. Beautiful tour, I don't think I'll ever forget it. But we used most of a day on it, and it was not cheap.
Boat was large, comfortable and pretty fast. Several toilets, a small kiosk, both inside and outside sitting options.
The tour is long, three hours, you go through several fjords before arriving. The views are very special and beautiful - I was busy watching everything all the time.
We had three hours in Geiranger before returning. The return-tour is not as exciting because you have seen everything on the first leg - several passengers fell asleep.
There is an audioguide in a lot of languages. A bit too much like a tourist brochure to my taste but not bad.
Crew is very friendly and helpful.

I would give the company 4-5 stars, except they did not return my money. I made the mistake of booking a 3-hour cruise 2 months in advance. I immediately realized my mistake and contacted them to update it to a 90-minute cruise, same day, and same time. They accommodated me, but did not return the difference. I let it go at the time, but when I went to check in for the cruise, the representative helping us queried on which cruise we were on. We explained the mistake we'd made, and she asked, "they returned your money, right?" "No," I said, and she said that wasn't right. I reached out to them, and they told me "too bad," which again, I understand, except their representative when we checked in told us we were entitled to a refund.
