The next day he took me down to Pavones for an amazing day of surfing at the second longest left in the world. I would recommend South Surf CR to anyone from beginners to advanced surfers. Pura Vida!

Josue is a world-class instructor. He taught me to surf in 1 month - I went from not being able to stand up on a surfboard to catching full-on waves with ease. He is passionate about his work, and you can sense the genuine satisfaction he gets from seeing his students improve. Also Playa Hermosa is a great place to learn and he will even drive you to Dominicalito if those waves are more appropriate for your skill level. Also the consistency you get from having multiple classes with the same instructor makes a big difference. Take a few classes with Josue and you will become addicted o surfing.

Well as you can see I am already standing up on the surfboard in my first lesson. Thank you to Jossue who is an AMAZING instructor! He took his time with instructions. He speaks great English which helps. Even though I got up pretty quickly he didn’t just leave me alone, he kept being attentive and kept giving me pointers to perfect my stand on the surfboard.
I felt that I could trust him as he has a lifeguard and surf teacher certificate. Therefore he has the extra knowledge to share about the ocean and its safety.
Thank you Jossue and I look forward to our next lesson for the more advanced class : )

I’ve never tried surfing until now and me not being a skilled person for this type of activity I was shocked on how fast and easy the teacher made it for me and others. In just one lesson I had already ride the wave. Had such a great experience I had to come back again for more surf lessons. To date we've had 4 and I couldn’t be happier about the progress made. I hope many more get to experience this.

Josuè and the South Surf Costa Rica team were a highlight of our trip, so much so, that we returned for a second visit & set of lessons. From start to finish, we felt relaxed & welcomed. The South Surf Costa Rica team takes hospitality to the next level; if you haven't already, you'll fall in love with Playa Hermosa and surfing. We were a large group of kids and adults and Josuè's team, with ease, guided 7 of us through surf lessons during our trip. Those of us who didn't surf still felt the good vibes. 100/10 recommend booking some time with South Surf Costa Rica.

This was the highlight of my trip! A newbie to surfing, I came to the lesson with no experience and was up and riding a wave within 15 minutes of the lesson! These guys are awesome, they are very positive and encouraging and make it a really enjoyable experience. Hermosa beach is beautiful with perfect waves and amazing sand so a great location to be taking a lesson. I can't wait to get on a surfboard again!

My wife and I were introduced to Jossue by a childhood friend of his. We certainly hit the lottery! He was amazing from start to finish. Fresh coconut water before the lesson was a nice refresher. We had both surfed before and were familiar with rip currents. So he didn’t have to spend a lot of time on those topics.
Jossue was very patient and extremity friendly. Simple but helpful instruction and tips. He helped with timing the waves and paddling.
During our break, he cut fresh fruit and delivered it to us down by the water.
If you need a local professional with complete knowledge of Playa Hermosa, he is your guy without a doubt.

Jussue and his staff were amazing. I'm 65 years old and they treated me as family, funny, jokes and friendly. They spent time teaching my group about water safety and surfing safety. They took care of us so that everyone felt safe and comfortable. I recommend him and his crew for anyone who is a beginner. I got up and rode a wave. Did I mention I can't swim, that is how safe this operation is. Two hours of fun in the sun.

My friends and I had an amazing experience during our surf lesson with Jossue! He’s clearly very experienced, professional, and has a passion for teaching. My friends were looking forward to getting their surf lesson, while I was a bit nervous about it. Once I saw them in action, I was convinced I also wanted to try and Jossue was very kind about including me even though our lesson was only scheduled for my 3 friends. Thank you so much for a great beginners lesson and I truly can’t wait to try again! Will definitely be back!

Memories for a lifetime! My wife and I took a surfing lesson here. Josué is very detailed, patient. He made sure we felt safe the whole time, with a great sense of achievement at the end of the session. Chris took some amazing photos. Also, what a breathtaking location! Friendly people, we highly recommend!

Surfing is intimidating, there are so many things to think about. I learned to stand up on a wave quickly and felt safe the whole time. Jossue and his team are not only extremely helpful, they are positive and it's SO FUN to learn with them.
There's nothing quite like having the Costa Rica jungle as a backdrop and I love that the Dominical/Playa Hermosa/Uvita area is still a great getaway place. I highly recommend South Surf for having a great time while learning!
