My family has been visiting Costa Rica and using Tropical Tours for years every time we come because they are by far the best locally owned and operated transport company in the country. Due to my job I often need to make last minute bookings with less than 24 hours notice and J.C. or Leo always accommodate my family with a private shuttle that is punctual, affordable, and professional.
I was very surprised to see a couple negative reviews for this business. I assume these folks are just ignorant about the road conditions and driving customs in Costa Rica. Our drivers have always been safe, right on time, and happy to stop if we need to get refreshments or to use the bathroom.
We used to rent a car to get around but quickly realized it's a far better value and more relaxing to just book a private shuttle with Tropical Tours. I've done the shared shuttle many times as well and that's great too, I just prefer the flexibility of the private shuttle because I can get in an extra surf session and avoid staying a night in Liberia or Alajuela.

I took Tropical Tours both from Tamarindo to Santa Teresa and back from Santa Teresa to Liberia Airport. They were punctual, well organized and the cars will clean. They will connect with other busses at gas stations usually and transition people depending on where they are heading. This also gives you a chance to get some food and use the toilet. It does add time to the travel, but for the price its to be expected.
The drivers don't speak much english, but they're nice and the reservation service was great and all in english.
This was honestly the best value by far for solo travelers to get around Guanacaste!
