- jdwraine0 contributionsEpic must doThe guides where amazing. Me and my mates are hard to put up with at the best of times... let alone hanging off the side of a mountain but they loved every moment of it. The experience and views where mind blowing but the guides made it 100 times better. Oh and the lunch was amazing. No real skill needed just a can do attitude.Written September 19, 2024
- Adam T0 contributionsThe Best experience!!Four of us returned for our 2nd visit in 2 years we did level 3 this visit, we also brought along 8 other friends who absolutely loved the experience it is one of the best experiences you can do in NZ. Would highly recommend everyone gives it a go. The guides are extremely friendly and professional, we always felt safe in their hands.Written September 11, 2024
- Briannamayo220 contributionsAmazing Experience on level 3!Great experience! Personally I have experience in rock climbing but wouldn’t class myself as overly fit. Two harder sections on level 3 that require a bit of upper body strength. Depending on the wind you can get a little wet behind the water fall so bring a raincoat. Amazing views throughout the entire climb. A few opportunities for small rests along the way. Helicopter was short and sweet. I’d recommend speaking up if you get motion sickness for a smoother ride. 100% recommend level 3 for anyone who loves a good climb and a unique outdoor experience.Written September 4, 2024

- Dreamer437006281420 contributionsAmazing day out for our company team eventAn amazing day out for our company team event in Wanaka. It was amazing climbing that close to the waterfall with stunning views of the valley below. Even though some had no experience in climbing and were a bit afraid, we all completed level 2 and had a great time out!Written September 2, 2024
- jkirk27_130 contributionsAwesome experience in Wanaka. We had an amazing time at Wildwire Wanaka. The climbing was sensational, the views were first class and the guides were lovely and helpful. - Coastal204861665330 contributionsAmazing must-do experience with brilliant staffThis activity was amazing from start to finish. The communication, directions and instructions etc from the team was top tier and we had a blast scaling the waterfall up to level 2. The guides were amazing, friendly, knowledgeable and passionate. A special shout out to Ollie who always gave us a cheer and a high five for getting through the tricky sections. I felt extremely safe and the guides constantly checked in on the group to make sure we were all comfortable. Ollie showed his passion by also explaining the local wildlife and flora to us as we scaled up.Written August 27, 2024
- gaillO8471SS0 contributionsOnce in a lifetime climbThis was an amazing, heart pounding, exhausting adventure, not for the faint of heart. We did level 3, an all day climb 1400ft up. It is the same tour for all 3 levels, they just stop at different points. Our main guide was Yasmin, cool as a cucumber, very encouraging and supportive. Toward the end I started having doubts about being able to finish. Yasmin, inspired us to keep going. Unlike our crazy(awesome) guide, I can't imagine doing this climb more than once. Knowing a helicopter takes you down off the mountain was very helpful. Thank you to farmer Charlie, and owner Matt, for making this climb possible. Think our other guide, equally cool dude, was Dave(?) They deserve a HUGE raise!!Written June 3, 2024
- edenw2090 contributionsAmazing experience!Absolutely amazing experience! Not like anything I’ve ever done before but our guide was so good and made me feel very confident and comfortable. Great views tooWritten June 1, 2024
- Rhyolite900 contributionsThe most incredible day outThis is an absolutely amazing experience. The staff are brilliant, the gear is second to none and the overall activity has been thought out with every rung you climb. The scenery is out of this world, even for Otago, which is no small feat. Everything you turn around, you discover something new to look out over. We went up to level 2 with a group of 4 others and two guides and then proceeded with one of the guides up the final section to the top of level 3. Level 3 is much more of a challenge than the other 2 but if you're up for it, it is by far the most spectacular and you really feel like you have achieved something by the time you get to the top. I proposed to my partner up there which was amazing and our very patient guide Tanguy took a heap of pictures. The helicopter ride down was short but the perfect way to top off one of the best days of our lives. Thanks a ton team!Written June 1, 2024
- lachlantm0 contributionsBest via ferrataOriginally visited Wildwire in December, returned with mum and dad. Second time round, even more awesome! We met out guide, Dolce, harnessed up then in to a training boulder before beginning the climb. Very relaxed pace, the views were awesome and the route second to none. Dolce is absolutely amazing - one of the best guides, very supportive of dad who just did the first level, and celebrated the rest of the group throughout the trip. Also, a shoutout to Yasmin - thanks for all the help organising this trip! Thanks again Wildwire!Written May 1, 2024

I would do this again and again if I lived nearby! The Level 1 via Ferrata was challenging but so much fun and I felt really accomplished when I finished the level. If you're up for it, you may have a chance to take on Level 2 when you complete Level 1, for an additional cost. Our guide was patient, knowledgeable and professional and the owner was very welcoming. I highly recommend this experience if you're in the Wanaka area!

This is the absolutely No 1 thing to do while in Queenstown and Wanaka districts, before you do anything else.
It was so safe and so easy, just like they say, if you can climb a ladder then you can definitely do this level 1.
I was sweating more from the weather than the actual activity. You adrenaline junkies should do at least level 2 to get your workout fix. ( we plan on doing level 2 on our next trip out to this beautiful part of the country ).
Our guide Ben so was calm and helpful and put me at ease so I was never afraid.
We did do some pretty scary climbing when looking back at the photos.
Too good, thank you Ben and the Wild Wire Wanaka team.

This was the best activity I did on my visit to NZ and it’s suitable for all abilities, I had never done anything like this before, but you can choose between three levels. It’s exhilarating with incredible views and photo opportunities. Our instructor Ben really made the whole experience for us, making you feel safe and pointing out extra things along the way. Thank you for a great experience!

Just an amazing experience! The staff were do helpful right from the booking (and sorting transport) process. My nearly 9 year old was a reluctant starter, but very quickly found his groove and Alex, the guide, was so amazing with him - particularly as he couldn't quite reach some of the points needed. Alex was super helpful and made it a breeze. For me it was a highlight of our adventure trip and I would definitely recommend it!

What a blast. Completely new to climbing but received excellent and reassuring instruction before heading up the Level 1 Waterfall Climb.
Lovely Yasmin guided us up and before I knew it I was hanging hands free off a bridge!
I’m a Wanaka local and have been non stop recommending Wild Wire to all my friends.
Will be back to give Level 2 a go.

We did the Level 1 climb as a family of four (kids 13 & 11) and absolutely loved it! We all would have upgraded to the Level 2 climb but our youngest was under the minimum weight. I’m not a fan of heights but didn’t have any issues as you’re so busy concentrating on what you’re doing you don’t really think about the height. Plus we all felt completely safe with the harness etc. We would definitely do this again and cannot recommend this highly enough! Thanks for an amazing adventure!

From the time of booking, Wildwire was excellent to deal with. Their responses, reminders and organisation were tops. We were a group of 15, all climbing to different levels. My friend and I - both in the 60-76 age range were the oldest - but were encouraged and looked after the whole way. Definitely recommend

Hi I am wondering if the Beginner Waterfall Climb from Wanaka would be good to do in September - weather wise ? Would it be too cold / slippery ?
