We arranged a customised private tour with WZ tours Fiji. We wanted to check out the Temple and do the markets and Garden of the sleeping giant. We weren't interested in the mud pools (even though the mud is supposed to be great for your skin).

We totally enjoyed the day with our private driver (sorry not sure of his name, My hubby called him O'Neil but I don't think that was his name but it was pronounced similarly). He was fantastic, polite, patient and very knowledgeable. First stop was the temple. He had wrap arounds for us to wear as it was a requirement to enter the temple. It was a really humbling experience for us to learn of another religion (we knew very little about) Our guide was brilliant! No photos allowed inside the temple and you had to be bare foot. We did take photos outside though. which we were allowed to do.

Next stop was the markets in Nadi Town. It was a food market only as it was a Sunday and everything else was pretty much shut except for a souvenir shop! Sunday is a sacred day in Fiji. They had beautiful flower arrangements and I couldn't resist buying one at $15 so big and colourful! Hubby tried some Kava as well.

After the markets we headed to the Garden of the Sleeping Giant. which was a bit out of town down a dirt road. You arrive at a bure and a guide walks you down the garden path showing and naming the beautiful orchids and tropical plants, trees and palms along the way. It was a bit hot! Part of it seemed like rainforest as it cooled down considerably. There was no breeze at all so it got quite hot. We arrived back at the entrance and were given a nice cold tropical fruit drink which was really appreciated.

Our costs included all entrance fees and the fruit juice. We were very happy with the tour, our guide and the vehicle was modern and very comfortable as well.

I would highly recommend this tour if you want to avoid the crowds.

This tour was great we got to see the hindu temple, visit the local markets, go to the souvenir shop, walk around the garden of the sleeping giants, and take a dip into the mud pools. This tour was absolutely awesome because not only did we get to do all of the things we really wanted to do in 1 day, but we got to really dive into Fiji’s culture and learn things we didn’t know about before. Although the tour was amazing our tour guide Sam truly made this experience like no other. We learnt so much about him & his culture, and he was so patient with us the entire day while we looked around & learnt the Fijian ways! He truly made our entire trip like no other and we will absolutely be back to hopefully see him again next year for another tour! He was an absolute legend and we cannot thank him enough for making our last day truly perfect.

Excellent overall tour of Nadi and surrounds. Knowledgeable tour guides with a happy outlook. Stop in Nadi to buy souvenirs was a waste of time. One shop, fairly pushy and not cheaper than anywhere else. You can do better at your resort shops. Mud baths are fun but run down. Garden tour was very good with amazing flora. Definitely worth a look.

Really productive day.. the first thing is the Hindu temple which was beautiful. Then you do the market tour and the garden of the sleeping giant. The tour in the garden was exceptional. Then we do the mud mask and then wash it off in the thermal pool. Perfect for anyone who wants to something else in the afternoon like a sunset cruise. You get back at 2 if you are in denarau island. Enjoy this !

We were a bit reluctant to do this Tour but after checking around with a few guests/friends and with the assistance with the Rosie Tour desk in the lobby, we decided to experience something extra ordinary. Well we did not have any regrets after this trip and if only we had time, we would go for the second time. But anyone out there, DO TAKE THIS AWESOME deal where you go to the local market, visit the largest Hindu Temple in the South Pacific as we have been told by the Driver/Guide, a bit of shopping experience - and you don't get hassled by other vendors or shady characters on the main street, then it is a drive to the Garden of Sleeping Giant well known for its Orchids etc then WOW the Mud Pools and Hot Spring. It is in the middle of no where but with the great mountain backdrop and all is natural around this area. Very genuine interesting Fijians who carry on with their work while we enjoyed out. Very relaxing! We had a great sleep after this adventurous and soothing trip. MUST TO DO WHILE IN FIJI! And not overpriced. A great personalized tour by this company. Well Done! Vinaka

Just spent the day with Anil (apologise for the spelling) our tour guide and had a wonderful day visiting Nadi temple, local souvenir store, local school, village tour, garden of the sleeping giant and the fabulous mud bath and hot baths. We had youngsters with us who were thoroughly entertained by the sights and Anil. Would highly recommend this experience of Fiji

We booked the afternoon tour to see the garden of the sleeping giant, hot springs/mud pool and were blown away by how incredibly personable and knowledgeable our tour guides were! Wasim and Junior stay true to the tour company's motto and make you feel like friends and not tourists. We felt relaxed and entertained the entire trip! We would recommend this tour for anyone looking to have a great time!
Thank you Junior & Wasim!

We went on the 2pm tour that had us see the Hindu temple, the Tappoo tourist trinket store, a fruit and vegetable market, the orchid garden and the mud bathes.

With the exception of the store (which was nicely air conditioned), every stop on our tour was quite interesting. Our guide, Junior, was fantastic and both he and Wasim (sp), the driver, were friendly and helpful. I wish all tour guides were like these two!

At the market, we learned about local fruits and vegetables and had the opportunity to try kava (try it, it's not that bad). The trip up to the orchids and the mud baths was a bit bumpy but nothing too intense. Nor was the walk in the gardens overly rigorous.

The bulk of our time was spent at the mud baths. Do bring your camera; Wasim will happily take a picture of you covered in mud (make sure to apply just a thin layer). It was a fun though very low-key experience (it's literally in a farm field). I recommend taking advantage of the gardens' more modern washrooms before you visit the mud baths (they do have changerooms/bathrooms at the mud baths but there a bit more rustic).

Also, if possible, try to do the tour on a day that doesn't have a cruise ship in port. On the day we went, our small tour of five people were the only people at the baths, which made it a great experience. We were told though that on cruise ship days, the baths can be absolutely packed, which can't be pleasant.

Our brochure said that the tour would take roughly 3.5 hours but ours clocked in closer to 4.5 hours (though it felt much shorter). The brochure also says to wear strap sandals but we didn't find that to be necessary. Do make sure to bring a towel and maybe don't wear your favourite swim suite; the mud can be a bit tricky to get out.

We had the best day with these guys our guides Junior and Wassim were excellent both friendly and funny the made our trip very enjoyable. It was great to get out of the resort and see some of Fiji the Temple was beautiful. The markets in Nadi and Kava tasting was a fave especially for my husband who got a taste for Kava. The garden of the sleeping giant was beautiful and peaceful but is a bit of a walk around so wear comfy shoes. Our guides knew their stuff and were informative and entertaining. Of course the highlight is the mud pools the mud is great and leaves your skin feeling soft and cleansed the heat of the last pool was bliss on the muscles. This is a great relaxed tour and well worth the price take cash if you want a massage at the mud pools although I didn't have one I have heard that they are amazing and so much cheaper than the resorts.
