The stunning beaches, crystal-clear waters, and vibrant marine life create an unforgettable experience. Whether you’re looking to relax in the sun, snorkel among colorful fish, or indulge in delicious local cuisine, this island has something for everyone. The welcoming atmosphere and friendly locals add to the charm, making you feel right at home. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to explore this hidden gem; it’s the perfect getaway for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike!"Written September 30, 2024
- irinietac0 contributionsTivua island tripOverall the experience was a great one. However, it took an 1 hour of boat trip thus making little time in terms of experience on the island. The service was great and the crew members talked and laughed with the with the guests.Written September 25, 2024
- Brookewilson110 contributionsFun day outAwesome day out! The staff were very lovely and had a good sense of humour - there is plenty to do on the island itself and you can do the activities at your leisure. Would recommend the glass bottom boat as it is interesting to learn about the coral reef system around the island. We had a great time and found it was the perfect amount of time on the island to not be too exhausting of a day out. Would recommend!Written September 22, 2024
- FrankieF320 contributionsThe best day cruise in FijiI've done a lot of day trips in Fiji, Mexico (Mayan Riviera) and Caribbean islands, but this was one of the best! The sailboat was stunning, the food delicious (best we had in Fiji), the island/beach was immaculate and one of the loveliest I've seen in Fiji (just like the movie The Blue Lagoon), but the best part was the people! The crew is absolutely lovely, as they go out of their way to ensure you're having a great time! Also, this was by far the best snorkel we did on our trip, and that's saying a lot because Natadola beach snorkeling was fantastic, but here the fish are 4 times the size and we even saw reef sharks, manta rays, and one octopus!Written September 18, 2024
- Climber112664113140 contributionsTivua Island, a definite winnerThis experience was fantastic! Entertainment and food made the boat trip fun. Tivua Island was paradise. The lunch was delicious and generous. The staff made sure that everyone was entertained while we ate. There was so much to do on the island as well. The boat ride back again was fun with entertainment, singing and cultural experiences. All of the staff were friendly and welcoming. Would definitely book this tour, everything about it was fabulous.Written September 15, 2024
- Guide259080254370 contributionsBeautiful sunset dinner cruise with singing, dancing and cultural showGreat experience cruising out on the water, watching the sun set, being entertained by the crew singing and playing guitars and everyone dancing. Complimentary drink on boarding, followed by very tasty canapes while staff played guitars and sang. Dinner served inside, then a cultural show on deck as we sailed back to the marina. Great fun and value for money. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.Written September 3, 2024
- Traveler952490 contributionsGreat cruise, wonderful staff and captainThe cruise was lovely but it is the staff that make it, they are so lovely captain Peter came to greet and chat to everyone, the tradition dancing was great. I would recommend to anyone visiting FijiWritten August 22, 2024
- bcline990 contributionsA must see! This was one of the best things my daughter and I have ever done. The island was absolutely beautiful, the food was delicious and the boat journey was picturesque. And these weren’t the best thing about this experience. The staff was absolutely phenomenal. Jay, Eva, and so many more made this the best excursion of our vacation! Vinaka!Written August 18, 2024
- Explore552420402350 contributionsIsland delightWhat a magic day. Delightful entertainment with guitars and singing. Jay knew a song from many other cultures including Korean, Italian, Aussie, and New Zealand...amazing. The lunch was a delicious feast of salads and BBQ meats. Jay's optional talk on the use of native plants for medicinal purposes was very interesting and his display of crafting baskets and bowls from palm fronds was fascinating to watch. The waters were a perfect blue and so calm. The sand on the island is made of tiny pieces of crushed coral so reef sandals are advised. Talking with the live in Marine biologist brought home how essential it is to look after our oceans to try and rescue the coral before it's too late.Written August 12, 2024
- Explore552420402350 contributionsVery worthwhileThis cruise was a wonderful experience. The sunset was beautiful to see and listening to the staff singing and playing guitar was a delight. The range of food choices for the dinner was great and the lamb curry was delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed the Fijian dancing by the male staff, and everyone on board were smiling and friendly. A really lovely experience.Written August 12, 2024
- N8762RZmarianaa0 contributionsParadiseAmazing experience in paradise. Can't say enough great things. Completely worth it. Great atmosphere and service on the boat and off the boat. The food they cooked up for us buffet style was amazing.Written August 10, 2024
- JaqJack0 contributionsYasawa Islands are beautiful, but its the staff onboard that made our experience amazing.Amazing experience. The staff onboard truely made our experience that much better. The islands we visited were beautiful and the snorkeling was amazing. Swimming in the caves, visiting a local school where the kids sang to us & showed us around, Lovo dinner at a village was delicious. We had a balcony room which was nice to sit & watch the sunset. It was hard to say goodbye to all the staff as they had become like family to us.Written August 9, 2024
- erinbZ6695QX0 contributionsAwesome family dayFrom the moment we arrived until we got back on our transfer bus, we felt like we were with family. Great music and entertainment on the boat. The crew was beyond welcoming and made it a point to get to know our kids names. The island is beautiful, the lunch was delicious and the snorkelling was fun. The spirit of Fiji was very much alive on our cruise today. Special thanks to Iva and Biu for making it such a fun day.Written August 3, 2024
- 836sangeunl0 contributionsBest experience!Beautiful island. Lunch BBQ was so delicious, people are so friendly, activities were so fun. I really want to go again.Written July 28, 2024
- KerryJcom0 contributionsOverpriced with tired, old and inadequately stocked facilitiesAs everywhere in Fiji, the people were lovely. Unfortunately, this is where the positive ends. I do NOT recommend this trip - spend your money elsewhere. The food on the cruise ship on the trip over and back consisted of instant coffee, pre-packed lamingtons, pre-package biscuits and tea on the way over. Cash bar. On the island, the activities were poorly provided for. There was one 3-person sit on top kayak with one kayak paddle and one stand up paddle-board paddle and two stand up paddle-boards with a paddle each for the entire boatload of people to share. The bar was out of all snacks, towels (for which they'd charge $35 if they had them) , souvenirs and if you were unlucky enough to forget sunscreen, they were selling it for $45 for a small bottle (they had two left). And ours was a morning trip - it's not like they could say the previous visitors had purchased it all, it was just unprofessionally planned. The glass bottom boat needs some major repairs - it was leaky, the glass was scuffed up, the awning needed repair - shockingly old. There was no guidance on where to snorkel and most of the coral is bleached out from rising sea temps due to the shallow waters around the island, so it wasn't great once you did learn where it was most interesting (under the jetty to the right). None of the crew were designated as lifesavers or first aid providers. If you paid for a private cabana - $99 - you got a quieter experience. But they only booked them on the boat over, which meant larger groups had to seek out and drag over extra seating as each cabana only equipped with two chaises and two chairs. Wish we could get a refund - it was such a disappointment.Written July 25, 2024

Captain Cook Reef Endeavour 12 day trip
February-March 2019
Overall rating - 4 stars
Pros
snorkel daily on inner reefs
visit remote villages
unique experience due to remote island visits not covered by most tours
Cons
Cyclone Winston in 2016 damaged many coral reefs, lower ratings due to damage
(We have snorkeled for 25 years, so I was critical on reef reviews. You may give higher ratings.)
Snorkel review
Most snorkel trips last 45 minutes in the water
Rating is based on coral variety, size, area, general health
Large launch seats 40, has 8 step ladder for climbing aboard after snorkel
Small launches seat 16, have 3 step ladder
Captain Cook private island - not a snorkel site, sand island just offshore
Makogai - snorkel - 3, visit abandoned leper village - 1
Taveuni water fall hike / lunch - 4, snorkel - 5
Wailagilala - snorkel - 1, coral sand - 5
Vanuabalavu - snorkel - 3, tour inlet islands - 5
Oneata - Sunday church service in the village - 5, snorkel - 4
Fulaga - tour inlet islands - 5, snorkel - 3, fish - 5
Vuaqava - inland hike to lake (skipped), snorkel - 2
Kabara - snorkel - 5, fish - 5 village visit to school performance - 5
Totoya - village visit to school performance - 5, snorkel - 3, fish - 4
(on the school chalk board: what has 4, 6, 8 legs? what has backbone? what swims? what walks?)
Kadavu - snorkel - 3, fish - 5
Food/drinks/service
FD$1 = US$0.50
Drinks are FD$7.50 for beer, FD$27 for tropical drinks, FD$65 Pinot Grigio, soda FD$7
Food is buffet for breakfast and lunch and some dinners. Good quality and moderate variety.
(This is an adventure tour, not a gourmet food experience)
Service is 5 star. Staff has been selected for friendly, courteous service. Several knew our names by end of voyage. They also perform in sing and dance shows after dinner.
Reef Endeavour
Built in 1995, 130 guest capacity, we had 75. Purpose built for island visits.
Huge stern hydraulic launch platform that lifted boats out of water for boarding.
We had Ocean room on level 3 (level of bar and pool) with door to perimeter walkway. Cleaned daily, new towels if desired. Bathroom for one at a a time. Nice, clean, roomy bedroom. We had bow area room so anchor drop and recovery was a surprise the first few days.
Prior to C.C. tour, we stayed in the Yasawa Chain at Waya Island at the Octopus Resort for 4 days/nights. Reef is 5 star just wade in and swim to it. We had ocean view Bure with AC. Great sandy beach, pool, many lounge chairs/swings. Popular with the backpack millennials who use the swift ferry to travel between islands in the Yasawa's. Good food with limited menu. Friendly staff. You feel very remote when you look out to sea.

The Captain Cook ship "Reef Endeavour" is in desperate need of a renovation. Everything is old, worn out and rusting. A/C in the room could not be adjusted in temperature or speed. The spa on the top deck was not working. Bathroom hand basin was installed at an angle. Shower head had minimum water coming out. Roller blind kept falling when pulling it down for the night. Carpet had worn out patches. Door was leaking air. Underwater coral was mostly the hard type with very little soft coral and anemones. Lots of bleaching and damage from previous cyclone. Go elsewhere to see good underwater scenery. However, the staff were excellent and food was great.

Bula Ray, so sorry your experience wasn't as you expected, with two years of closed boarders, it has been difficult to get supplies. Things are now starting to move and all will be replacing the carpet and spa soon. Global warming is causing changes but I have just cruised to the remote north and the soft corals were gorgeous, the bleaching is there but still plenty to see. I will pass your great comments about the food and staff on to our team.

Amazing trip to the most remote locations on the planet. This is nothing like those hideous gigantic plague ships. It’s intimate and enables you to undertake one of a kind experiences and interactions with isolated local communities. You can choose to be busy all day or take it easy with a cocktail by the small onboard pool or at the beach.
If you are undecided about cruising after covid don’t be with these guys.
Staff and management take covid protocols very seriously both prior to and while onboard. There is a nurse on board just in case. So feel reassured that even though you are literally thousands of kilometres from civilisation you are safe on this little ship with its phenomenal crew who you will treat you like family.
I would take a cruise in Fiji with these guys over a 5 star resort any day. You cant beat the experiences and excellent food prepared by Head Chef Jackson and his team. ( + deserts to die for from Toto). All dietary requirements and food allergies catered for.
Thanks CCC Fiji for a wonderful return to travel post pandemic. Can’t wait to come back again and again.

Kapow..From the initial welcome on board to the final day this cruise was filled with beautiful cultural experiances...visits to villages...school concerts...amazing snorkling, diving, fun filled evenings..The crew were warm and friendly with smiles that brighten any room. Many on board were return cruisers which is a testament to the cruise.. This holiday was memorable and would love to do another.

This 12 day cruise goes to islands that receive few visitors so the villages are more traditional which is good for the soul. The cruise ship is comfortable (if you're looking for luxury you're on the wrong cruise) with great food, but even more special are the staff. which is why we regularly visit Fiji and it's islands. Always helpful, they make a trip special. We dived every other day- Cyclone Winston's damage is evident but the reefs seem to be recovering- there was still plenty of sea life to see. Because Suva's decompression chamber is out of action our dives were limited to 18 meters but that didn't detract from our time under water. The dive at Wailagilala Island was spectacular for the clarity of the water and the bluest of blues- amazing. The dive costs were reasonable- similar to other areas in Fiji. We had a great dive master in Bill but we felt that the two dive masters on board were stretched to cater for 13 divers and two additional taking their PADI course- the boat took only 6 divers at a time (and then with only one divemaster). There were two dives a day and it pays to register your dives on the first day- pages are set out for each dive day, for you to register, as they fill up quickly. We had a cabin (the least expensive) on the lower deck forward of the dining area and found it handy to everything, not noisy , and adequate for our needs. A leaky shower head was attended to immediately. The ship is older and needs some maintenance (happening in February) - the route around the Lau group is distant from the mainland so the ship needs to be fully self sufficient. There was one large glass bottom boat, two additional landing type crafts, and an inflatable dive boat- all enough to move people to shore- on Fiji time of course. Visiting the villages and the schools is a highlight- take plenty of books, school items etc etc as they are gratefully received. Fiji makes you slow down so relax enjoy the journey and experience a great adventure. (The ship travels again in March to the Lau group- onyl two trips a year).

Had a great time on this cruise simply because of the staff. They are always happy and laughing and are a pleasure to be with. Did not do any diving or snorkeling as I live off the Great Barrier Reef and am spoilt for great reefs. Also intended to relax which is easy on this cruise. The ship is in need of a refit. Stringers are missing off steps and the metal steps get very slippery. The door to the bathroom does not lock back, nor does it close properly. The radio did not work so announcements were missed. The visit programme is well organised and excellent. TIP. The ship appears to be shallow draft and does roll from side to side. To get a good night’s sleep turn the bed east/west away from its north/south configuration. Gave this 4 stars because the ship desperately needs refitting. Give the crew and the associated programme 5 stars.

If you want to visit Fiji as it was, see places where tourists are uncommon, and to do so at a moderately relaxed pace, this may be the trip for you. If you are totally fixated on everything running to time, or to having your favorite breakfast provided on the last day of the trip, maybe this isn't the trip for you. Every day as a new adventure, snorkeling and diving is scheduled every day, as are village or island visits. Occasionally low tide means you might have to wade a little from the tender, and some of the islands have mosquitos, but each one is different and in many ways fantastic. Sunscreen and "village wear" are required, as is bula wear and a sense of humour. So, this cruise was great fun, it had magnificent staff, and gives a quirky twist to cruise life. But is IS FIJI not home and things are different there.

How lovely?! Thanks ScubalOver for the great review. Every Lau cruise is an adventure, the communication at these remote islands is very difficult so things dont always run to time but it is always an adventure.
