Do not use this company- poor communication and unorganized
Took the silfra snorkeling tour that was combined with lava tunnel. Very unorganized, absolutely NO stop for lunch, pickup at hotel was one hour late, and the drive to silfra the driver did not want to stop us at restroom just down from where we put on Dry suits… she did end up letting us use restroom as several people needed to. The driver to silfra told everyone on the bus we would be in wet suit Not a dry suit (which wqs not true) so this caused panic on the bus. The guide in the lava tunnel was great, the guide in the actual snorkeling part of silfra was good. I could not recommend this company to anyone though.

Waterfalls, Glacier walking, hot geothermal baths and sheep
The 8 day Highlights Hitter tour is actually the 6 day ring Road tour with 2 additional day trips added at the end The 6 day Tour was excellent- Nick was our guide and he was fantastic. We saw so many waterfalls, so many sheep, walked on a glacier and enjoyed the Myvatan geothermal hot baths- so many things we would never have accomplished trying to do it on our own. Great to have a guide like Nick getting us there, and most excursions were covered (whale watching, ice cream at a dairy but not riding the Icelandic horses for example) Food and lodging was great-lunch spots for bread and soup not to be missed. And Nick continually pointed out spots that were used in the series Game of thrones and other TV/movie sets. Elisa for the Snaefellnes peninsula was very good and again got us to places we would not know to go look for. We saw an Arctic fox! The final day was Super Jeep in the highlands- we were a little anxious about how rough a ride it would be. Martin and the SuperJeep were great and the ride was smooth. More beautiful waterfalls and then a walk through lava fields- other worldly. We saw so much more than we could have done on our own in an 8 day time frame- busy but amazing. Given we were in the vans so long, the guides were excellent about bathroom breaks. Only criticism is the hand off for the 2 Day excursions on day 7 and 8 could be smoother- our guides were surprised we were travelling with luggage, but they worked it out. Highly recommend.

Wonderful day with Mateo in the super jeep.
We enjoyed a wonderful tour with Mateo visiting out of this world scenery including lush waterfalls, stunning volcanic craters and hiking lava fields from unique base camp. Mateo was attentive to his guests and made sure we had an enjoyable and pleasant day. He was knowledgeable about the places we visited. We had a great adventure in the highlands of Iceland. Thanks Mateo!

      Multi-day driving tour of Iceland
Truly memorable trip around the entire island of Iceland with Diddi. What a phenomenal guide! This trip involves a LOT of riding in a 19 passenger mini-bus, and Diddi made it exceptional by sharing all his knowledge of Icelandic history and culture. He also went out of his way to share some wonderful surprises, like a side trip to a puffin nesting ground, a visit to an Icelandic horse farm, and so much more.

Fantastic hut-hut Lauguvegar trek w/ Mikko & Arctic Adventures
Amazing hut-hut trekking experience w/ Mikko and Arctic Adventures. Mikko is a wonderful guide, incredibly thoughtful and made sure everyone had a great experience. The 2nd day of the trek is quite challenging, and the river crossings were never “fun”, but Mikko helped everyone, was very patient, and had a great sense of humor. Pay attention to the packing list provided in advance. It will help you to be well prepared for the experience.

      Landmannalaugar jeep tour
Absolutely recommend this tour. We debated between many avenues to get us to the Highlands without renting a 4x4 and we chose right. Matej was our guide and he was great! You stop a lot along the way at some beautiful sites. The super jeep was comfortable and not too many people. If you are on the fence about spending 12 hours in the Highlands, just do it you won't regret it!

      Stupendous Silfra Snorkeling Tour
Had an unbelievable time on the snorkeling tour. Justin was a great and funny driver who made the drive there enjoyable with fun facts. Dominika was knowledgeable, kind, and made everyone feel safe. The tour was outstanding. Even though the wetsuit experience and acclimating to the water was intense, Dominika got rid of any anxiety so I could enjoy the stunning views of the fissure.

The guide was very professional and also extremely attentive to the group - constantly checking out how people were coping, without making us feel incompetent! This hike was somewhat demanding and very exciting at least for me, first time on a glacier and wearing ice hiking gear. Still, I felt safe and the experience was great. The guide also shared a lot of information on the glacier, so I at least also learned a lot. This was truly a hike I will always remember. Overall, I liked the company’s professional yet relaxed style and respect for the unique environment they operate in.

On a windy summer day, we were happy the tour was not cancelled to start with, but as the hike evolved, the tour proved to be the best I've taken so far in terms of landscape and professional attitude of our guides- I have been a few times in Iceland and visited different ice versions, but never a glacier itself. I was fulfilling a personal dream to walk on ice, so I was pretty thrilled, still the team at Skaftafell working with Arctic should be praised for their excellent job. We were divided into two sub-groups after leaving the transfer bus and I was lucky to hike with Eric, Esa and Clara in a group of 9. The feeling of safety and professionalism was my main concern, because I was going with my partner, who is not as keen on ice as myself and had some apprehension about the whole experience. We were watched after at every step of the way and never felt unsafe, because the 3 amazing guides were continuously taking care of us, even tying our laces or fixing the crampons on our shoes, while paving the way forward. The sturdy crampons were a big plus and altogether, the equipment was excellent. And we had 1 guide per 3 hikers...Moreover, what I truly enjoyed was to navigate the glacier (baby steps) with 3 young and fresh people, who are experienced glacier guides, confident and inspiring, friendly and encouraging all the way. I was delighted to hear so much exciting information about the formation of Vatnajökull, the different features of the landscape and its very particular behaviour (I had no idea) from 3 enthusiasts of this very unique geological landscape. I recommend this tour whole-heartedly, not only because ice rocks, and rocks are often ice in Iceland, but mostly for the opportunity to do this specific hike with that group of talented people! Thumbs up for Arctic Skaftafell, by all means. And thank you, Clara, Esa and Eric for the great afternoon!

Fabulous experience hiking the glacier with Arctic Adventure guides. We appreciated that our group of 20 was broken down into 2 groups, with a separate guide for each group. Although we had hiking boots, we had to rent theirs (not expensive) so that crampons could be attached. These boots were not as comfortable as ours but did the job. We are reasonably fit (regular exercise), and this hike was definitely "moderate" and not easy due to many ups and downs, as expected. Fantastic experience overall. Thank you to our guide, Jan!

We absolutely loved the Glacier Explorer experience. Lots of time on the glacier itself and we heard the glacier cracking while we were there, a really unique experience! Kate, our guide, was brilliant, so informative and chatty. Thanks for teaching us the “angry cowboy” walk on the ice 😜 would definitely recommend to others and make sure to be curious and ask lots of questions. One of our favourite parts of our trip!

We are a party of 3 and booked 11: 20 am Glacier Hike. It was easy to find its hunt in the prk. It turned out we were the only participants in the group and received a private tour. The guide was an extremely nice gentleman (forgot his name). He was very caring and paid extreme attention to our safety. He would use ice pick to carve out spots for steps so it we would not slip. He was also very patient with all questions. We had a really nice experience. The lady who drove the bus was also very nice and willing to talk to us and answer questions. By the time we completed our trip, the next group (3 pm) was much larger. Everything was good including weather and the guide. I would recommend this to other friends.

I’m not one who likes to book tour groups often, but hiking a glacier could not be missed on our trip to Iceland and this was honestly one of the best experiences of my life! If you’re on the fence about booking this, just do it. You won’t regret it. My parents (in their 60s), my best friend, and myself (an avid hiker in my 20s) all agreed this hike was a once in a lifetime experience. While this is touted as the moderate option of their glacier trips (Glacier Explorer), it wasn’t too strenuous at all and our guide was incredibly kind and in tune with what everyone in the group may need for pacing. I’m sure all of Arctic Adventures’ guides are top notch, but I feel fully justified in saying that Ollie truly was the best. From what we saw of other groups and guides out that day, I’d say they all agree as well. Seems like he’s kiiiind of a big deal or something
He was so knowledgeable about the geology and history of the glacier, he was attentive and meticulous in his work to ensure that every one of us felt safe at all times, and he made us smile and laugh the entire trip. There wasn’t a question he couldn’t answer and he fell right into our sarcasm and banter throughout the day. This is a day we will never forget and in large part, that’s thanks to Ollie for being the incredible guide he is! I cannot recommend this tour enough!

Everyone left raving about the hike despite the challenge. Unanimously agreed that we have never had a more courteous, patient and thoughtful pair of guides. Henrik and Stew not only carefully guided us up the glacier but also stopped to share anecdotes, take pictures and keep the entire trip fun for the group. Even the injury did not dampen the mood. Special thanks to Henrik for the the full 2 hour step by step escort down the glacier. Safe to say we couldn’t have been more thankful for the genuine thoughtfulness, humor and attention of both our guides. To say that it was an amazing experience, is an understatement.

This is something that you need to live once. We had a great experience hiking the glacier. However, I didn’t like that we had to hire hiking boots for an extra cost because ours weren’t hard enough. Also, I would have appreciated more interesting facts about the glacier during the hike.

Dear Torralboaslaj, Thank you for taking the time out and posting us a good review. We are happy that you have enjoyed hiking the glacier and had a great experience. Proper hiking boots are very important. You need to have proper hiking shoes with ankle support so you could put on crampons (metal spikes that we attach to the soles of your hiking shoes) These enable you to walk on the glacier ice without slipping. That's why you must have proper hiking boots. It's for your own safety. Once again thank you so much for your review and we hope to see you soon again so we could explore more of Iceland together! Warm wishes from Iceland.

This glacier hike was so amazing! The hike it self was really fun and the glacier and scenery was absolutely beautiful. Our tour guide, Henrik, was great. So knowledgeable about the area and provided a really fun experience. Our group was about 8 people so that was nice. I would recommend bringing a snack in your backpack or something, it’s about a 4 hour hike up on the glacier, there was time to take a break and eat.
