Ama surf school is vey welcoming and has very amaizing surf instructors. Would highly recommend the surf instructor Dinu, very professional, friendly and always in a good mood, 10/10.

We were there twice with our son and it was amazing. Our son got his own instructor. Seneth did a great job, very patient, friendly but top professional. The hole AMA team was so helpful. Communication over WhatsApp was very easy. Would love to come back. Highly recommend AMA Surf School!

Me and my sister had a great day at AMA surf school. The instructors were all very helpful and approachable. We turned this into a full day at the beach with AMA giving us a sun bed to use and a surf board was available if we wanted to practice what we’d learnt. I would highly recommend this surf school to everyone as the instructors were so accommodating and even as first timers we were able to stand up on the board with their help. The complete beach day.

Great experience and great service. We had the chance to spend almost a full day at the school having first a wrap up group lesson with professional instructors and after a free time surfing. The area is fantastic and we had fun for all day enjoying also a barbecue nearby. Nice discover and strongly recommended if you are in the area and you want to enjoy the bay.

Amazing surf lessons! We enjoyed learning how to surf as a family of beginners ! Very friendly teachers, one for the each of us!

I had both solo and joint lessons with my friend over a week period with Ama Surf School. All of the staff were very welcoming and friendly, they made us feel right at home! We started with beginner lessons with Akila, we went through the basics and these were drilled each lesson to ensure our positioning was correct. Akila was super nice, funny and patient with us. He made us feel safe and well looked after whilst in the water. We progressed onto a hard board quickly and were catching lots of waves in the white wash on our first lesson. We learnt how to turn and how to control the board. Akila celebrated our progress and was genuinely happy when we succeeded. I progressed onto the intermediate lessons in the green waves. Ama explained the process, the types of waves, currents and how to paddle before I started my sessions. I had various instructors who were all super friendly, encouraging, patient and I felt totally safe with them, they knew when you push me a little more and understood my capabilities in the water. I would totally recommend Ama Surf School to anyone visiting Weligama. Thanks guys, see you next season! 😊

Extremely professional. We went 2 days in a row and our instructor, Sammy who has been teaching for 15 years was very careful at the theoretical part. The lesson started with a bit of theory and exercices for pop off then we went in the water. In the water he paid very good attention and noticed our mistakes & kept giving us tips on how to overcome the difficulties we had. On the second lesson he talked to us about the main mistakes we made the previous days and helped us work on them on the shore. When we went in the water we did even better than the previous day. Needless to say that we got up on the board starting the first day. Will be back next year! If you go, ask for Sammy.

We were in Weligama for a week and took 5 surf lessons. After a short time we could already stand on the board and after only 3 lessons we were able to join in with the advanced surfers and switch from the softboard to the hardboard. It was great fun and the one-to-one supervision was really great so that we learnt quickly. Many thanks for the incredibly great experience

These guys truly deserve their title as the greatest in Weligama! I can’t believe how much they’ve taught me in such a short space of time! I thought I’d be lucky if I stood up once during my first lesson, but they had me riding waves from the very beginning ( and it’s such a rush!). I feel especially fortunate to have met my coach Dinu. He’s extremely professional and always paying attention. What’s more, he knows exactly how to push me to achieve my personal best and as soon as I do something wrong, he lets me know what I need to do to fix it and it works! I also feel super safe out there with him as he’s always looking out for me and positioning my board so that I’m not hit by big waves or other surfers. Finally, they’re all such a welcoming and friendly bunch that I’m really going to miss them and this lifestyle when I leave! Cheers for the most amazing few weeks everyone :)
