- Gricelda H0 contributionsIan is definitely the best tour guide I have met in this island. He knows history, he is fun and unauthentic. From the moment we met him @ 7:00 am in the morning (because he is very punctual) he made our day. We were all confused about what shuttle we should ride and he knew our name and greeted us with a sincere smile. Eight hours later he still had a great attitude, he knew were everyone came from, he has an amazing memory, recommend us places and gave us tips to enjoy our vacation. My self and my two friends were impressed from the minute we walked in to the office and met Joey the day before. North Bayshore Bus has prices that are totally worth every dollar we paid for. The shuttle was super clean as well. We are definitely booking with them our next trip to Hawaii. Thank you for making us feel as part of your family Ian 🙏🏽✨Written November 1, 2023

We had fun on this tour! Our tour guy Tim was great, he was very knowledgeable about the history of Hawaii, entertained us the whole time with jokes. The only reason why I didn’t give them a 5 star was because during lunch time he took us to the polysian culture market and there’s was many option to eat, though he only gave us one option to a very specific restaurant. We would of wanted to have more options since he dropped us off, we could of. Another thing he failed to tell us was that the walk to the waterfall was like 30 mins. So make sure you do your research. Other than that it was great! Thank you!

Paul was such an amazing tour guide! He was very funny, made sure that we saw everything that we wanted to as well. His narration of the tour added so much and was very fun and informational! He made sure to know everyone personally and made sure that we had enough time to do everything we wanted without crowds. Paul went above and beyond with this tour and I greatly enjoyed my time with him. This tour itself let me see so much of Hawaii that I would not have seen otherwise. I highly recommend taking this tour if you want a good time in Hawaii with great narration and great sight seeing!

I cannot express my gratitude and appreciation for “SEFO” from north shore beach bus. He arranged unforgettable tours for my family for a sunset Catamaran snorkel trip, Pearl Harbor Tour, North shore and Hanauma bay. He was kind, easy to talk to and truly tried to meet my families needs while keeping the excursions affordable. He is a STAND UP man who wasn’t pushy and had our best interests in mind. He never tried to upsell, or take advantage of us in anyway as many excursion companies will do. If you want to have a blast in Waikiki and deal with a trustworthy company and local expert look no further than “Sefo” at north shore beach bus.

The tour was excellent and our guide Ray was excellent as well. He provided a lot of background on both what we were seeing and the culture and lifestyle of Hawaii as well. He was very flexible and accommodating in making sure we got to stop and experience the great beaches and sites of the North Shore. He made a long day go by quickly. The beach stop was refreshing, and the stop for famous Leonard's donuts enjoyable. The shrimp lunch was casual but tasty. We hit a little rain in the morning but that did not dampen things. The tour provided flexibility with the stop in the North Shore town where we could choose paddle boarding, kayaaking, shave ice and shopping, or a nice cozy happy hour with the locals. The stop for macadamia nuts was a good idea, since they were fresh and so different from the packaged and processed ones we get on the East Coast. My only negative was the stop at the Dole Plantation. It seemed like every tour bus on the island was there, so it was extremely crowded and hassled. The setup was focused on separating the tourists from their money. The fresh pineapple was good, but the "famous" Dole Whip overrated. Omit this stop and make this trip a "five."

Mahalo nui loa for an awesome review of our tour! We appreciate everything you've shared! There is so much to do, and see, and taste all in the short time you're with us! We hand pick each stop to optimize our guests interests & experience. The Dole plantation is our last stop before the ride back to Waikiki. It allows views of the mountain range that Japanese war planes flew under radar and attacked our military base near by. It also ties into the plantation days that makes Hawaii so rich with different cultures. There are many buses that will stop for that last island treat and use the restroom or washroom after a long day. We are stoked to know you tried just about everything! Take care & aloha!

We had a great tour today seeing all around the island. The only disappointment was there was no waterfall which we were really looking forward to seeing. Couldn't go swimming because there hadn't been any rain. Bon Jovi was a great tour guide very knowledgeable and went the extra mile to please us.He made us all feel very welcome which made the tour even more enjoyable. We would highly recommend him to other people looking to go on a tour.

Aloha! Mahalo for your review of our tour & team member Bon Jovi! It's important for us to know our guests feel welcomed and you enjoyed your time with us around the island. Sometimes Mother Nature puts on a show, and sometimes she's quiet. We appreciate your understanding of this balance and our apologies for any disappointments you experienced on our tour. We hope you learned about our island's history, people, and tried some awesome local foods too! Most of all we hope you made some beautiful memories with your loved one! Mahalo & take care!

Tiho was an excellent tour guide. He was very knowledgeable about the island and had us laughing the entire trip. You get to see and do so much on this tour. We stopped at the Halona blowhole and we’re able to take in the breathtaking views of the waves crashing against the cliffs. We tried different flavors of macadamia nuts and tried macadamia nut Kona coffee at the macadamia nut farm. I highly recommend the cinnamon coated or caramel coated macadamia nuts, they are delicious! We ate the best shrimp I’ve ever had in my life at Fumi’s Shrimp Shack (get the garlic butter shrimp, you won’t regret it!) We stopped for a fun photo op at the China Mans hat. At Waimea Valley, we walked through a breathtaking botanical garden/forest filled with beautiful flowers and trees and hiked 25 minutes to Waimea Falls where we swam beneath the waterfall (it is $20 to enter Waimea Valley, but I highly recommend it). We ate authentic Dole whip at the Dole plantation and learned how to pick the perfect pineapple. We went paddle boarding in Haleiwa and saw two sea turtles which was an awesome treat! (It’s $20 to paddle board or kayak with an instructor, but it is also well worth it). We watched surfers catch the barreling waves at the Banzai pipeline. Throughout the entire trip, you are able to take in the awe-inspiring landscape that is Oahu and listen to the history of the island. There are also plenty of stops for cool photo ops. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see the island, but doesn’t want to rent a car.

If you want to see fast many interesting places without renting a car, reading guide and doing all navigation by yourself - this is the trip for you. Mini Bus came on time to do all pick ups, our small group was well organized so each stops we left on time. Between stops Noah (the guide) explained everything with great details including historical, spiritual and economical aspects of the specific place. Lunch (have $18 cash per person ) was excellent (verity of shrimps or chicken meals). I enjoyed the trip.

Had so much fun on the tour with my wife. We went to all of the sites listed and had enough time to really enjoy them. Our tour guide was Tiho and he gave us a ton of information throughout the trip. The macadamia farm had a free coffee sample and different samples of the nut flavors. We decided to goto waimea falls instead of the beach and had fun swimming at the base of the waterfall. The lunch we had was %100 worth every penny of the $15 dollars. We both had butter garlic shrimp and it came with corn, a pineapple chunk and rice with garlic butter. We ended the trip at the dole plantation and had the dole whip with a cup of pineapple. We spent around $45 dollars per person to do some of the excursions. I would highly recommend doing this because it will take you to many places you may not otherwise visit.

I really dislike writing negative reviews but I wanted to write an honest description of the tour here because I use these reviews to make my decision as I am sure others do as well. First the good, the pick up was timely, the bus was clean and comfortable, the bus driver Tiho shared a lot of facts/history which was interesting. In prior reviews I have read that there is a guide and a driver on the bus but we only had Tiho. For the not so good - the whole tour was so rushed!!! We were running and rushing everywhere. Not just on the quick photo stops but even at the two main stops. The lunch stop was very early, which may have been to avoid long lines so I am ok with that but then we had only an hour at the Waimea Falls hike (one of the two main stops). We ran up the hike and back with no time to admire the beautiful flora along the way or swim in the waterfall. We were rushed at every step only to find out that we were too early for kayaking and had to spend 45 mins at a random shopping center to kill time. When we got to kayaking it was well organized and the company that provided the kayaks was great. The guides were very helpful but again no time to stop and enjoy the beautiful beach. I realized when we got back that we didn’t even have a picture of our son on his first kayaking trip (there was no time to stop even for a breath.) There were two other stops at the Macadamia Nut farm and the Dole plantation, these are purely commercial stops. I didn’t mind supporting a local business at the Nut farm and we sampled coffee, macadamia nuts and bought some delicious goodies. It would have been good to see something here or learn about the farm but it was just a shopping stop. The kids loved looking at the chickens in the back so over all it was not bad. The final stop was at the Dole plantation and It was just for the ice cream not for looking around or exploring. It also ended up just being a shopping stop. There were long lines to get in and more lines inside for the pineapple ice cream and gift shop. I know they can’t help the crowds but just know that you will will be spending an hour waiting in lines for the pineapple whip (which was good but we also later found it at the diamond head crater hike and other places) and not doing anything else here. I understand there were two buses that day, I am not sure if the other bus has a better experience but ours was not so great. I certainly would not recommend for families with young kids, if they end up needing to use a bathroom at one of the stops or need an extra bit of time to finish their lunch you will be the last one getting back to the bus and will get a stink eye. We feel like we wasted our money and more importantly a beautiful day in paradise being scolded and chased around the island.

Aloha,
We are so sorry to hear your positive and negative feedbacks on your tour yesterday. We want to let all the guests who signed up or will sign up our tour that we are providing the tour everyday in Pandemic restrictions. As you know we have too many visitors in Hawaii, which we appreciate so much. On the other hand wherever we go to restaurants, tourists' spots, Luaus and etc, there are always long lines and sometimes if we are late, there is no chance to get in.
As you remember, before we start the tour from Waikiki, our guides politely ask to be punctual at every stop to avoid the long lines and make smooth movements of our activities and stops. Based on the conversation with your guide, your family was not on time even for Waikiki hotel pickup and even though you mentioned the Macadamia Nut farm was just for shopping, your family was almost 10 min late to the bus. Other guests in the bus gave your family stinky eyes for being late, not stinky eye from our guide.
Regarding the Waterfall Hike your family were given 1 hour 15 min not 1 hour, and some times due to huge number of visitors to Waimea Waterfall park, our guide gave everyone a caution that you may not have enough time for swimming under the waterfall and he gave you option that if you don not like this, you can choose to go to the Waimea beach for swimming a little over an hour. Dole Plantation closes the entrance around 4 30 PM so the tour bus needs to be there at least 3:45 pm to give everyone for enough time for Dole whip. As we all know due to Pandemic there is always extremely long line especially at Dole Plantation. This is the reason why our guides politely request all the guests be on time to the bus.
I want you to understand that we are not perfect, but we are doing our best to have our guests enjoy the best of Hawaii under the given restricted situation. As you read the other guests' reviews on the same tour with your family, they expressed sincere thanks to your guide and they said they will definitely recommend this tour to their friends and family. However, we will take your feedbacks to improve ourselves better. I appreciated your positive feedbacks.
Aloha

We had a great time with our tour guide Kurt. He was very fun and funny and made our experience pleasant. He was also very knowledgeable. We stopped at a few scenic stops including the pipeline etc. the bus was sparkling clean (disinfected 2x a day) and Kurt provided a lot of information while also driving us safely. I was nervous that I would feel carsick as sometimes I do but actually I felt completely fine. The two best stops for me were the beach stop where we spent an hour frolicking in the clear blue waves and the SUP/ kayaking stop where we rented a double kayak. While we were double kayaking, we saw not 1 but 3 sea turtles up close who just happened to be passing by. The place where we stopped for lunch was tasty... neither my partner nor I happened to have cash on us so Kurt kindly lent us the cash. He really went above and beyond to make sure we didn’t go hungry. We usually don’t buy too many souvenirs but when we tried the coffee flavored macadamia nuts on the macadamia farm we had to buy some. There were some slight changes to our itinerary and Paul was kind enough to call us and let us know in advance. Kurt threw in some bonus stops where we were able to have fun as well. A lot of times I see just old people on yours but this tour attracted a mixed group of some youngsters and some middle aged folx as well. Hawaii is beautiful and rental cars are expensive so this tour was WELL worth the investment.

I noticed that with larger tour groups, you need to show negative covid test within last 48 hours or vaccination card and ID. However, I did not see that requirement for this tour. Wondering whether there is a requirement or not. Thanks.
Written November 9, 2021
No, we did not have to show either vaccination card or negative test. But we were required to wear masks.

Does this tour include swimming at Waimea Falls and at beach stops? I understand that there is an entry fee to Waimea but wasn’t sure how much time was allotted at each stop. Also, if swimming is possible, are there changing facilities or do you recommend wearing a swim suit. Thank you!
Written September 28, 2021
You only get about an 1.5 hours at this location. So you have to hike the trail (depending on fitness level & amount of photos you take) and then if you get in the water - it would be a short dip because you have to allot time to make it back down. It’s a possible feat, but I would suggest wearing your swim gear so that you can make it a smooth transition. There are changing stalls, but it’s a busy spot. Hope this helps.
