    Traditional Hawaiian Luau
This was a better than expected experience. Great hosts, fantastic food and a comfortable and friendly atmosphere. Plus the Rock n Roll show was amazing.

A good traditional show, but overpriced
The dinner buffet was a good selection and the Hawaiian dancers and hula class very enjoyable. It felt a little rushed as we were invited in 40 minutes early to sit and wait for the show. Not a great selection of drinks. The audience was very small but the performers were entertaining and we enjoyed the traditional style. Be aware not all singers were singing live, but the ones who did were good. An enjoyable evening but it felt very overpriced.

    not as expected
the show was OK, but considering the price, we expected much more professional dancers with better coreograpyhy. It was only OK.

    Not great
This was not a luau-just a buffet dinner. Food was mediocre at best and its in a mall basically. Save your money for a real luau

    Great show
The buffet was good, staff was great. But the show….. it was AMAZING… Michael as Elvis was fantastic. He sang some of Elvis’s most iconic songs. As a true Elvis fan…. I was taken back by his performance. All the entertainers were excellent… A+. The dancers, the singers, the fire handlers & the house band…. EXCEPTIONAL! Would most definitely see again.

Skip the dinner and just see the show
The show was very entertaining and a unique look at music over the years including Hula but also influences from Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley. The buffet prior was ok. We aren’t big buffet fans so take it with a grain of salt. The service was ok. The mai tais were good. The table entertainer was nice but not that good. Not sure what the show costs alone but would do that and use the money on food elsewhere.

Include the optional show with the luau
We'd heard, "don't do a luau, they're a rip-off", and while it seemed a little pricey, we also did the optional rock-a-hula show and it was worth what we paid. If you're going to do Hawaii, consider this. Probably not something we'd do with young kids, but as a couple it was a great experience.

“A Fun-Filled Family Experience: Waikiki Luau Buffet & Rock-A-Hula Show”
Our experience at the Waikiki Luau Buffet with the Rock-A-Hula Show was incredible! The buffet was delicious, featuring a variety of Hawaiian favorites, and the atmosphere was lively and welcoming. During dinner, the performers engaged with us, teaching us some traditional Hawaiian dances, which added a fun, interactive touch to the evening. The Rock-A-Hula show itself was a unique blend of Hawaiian culture and entertainment, with impressive performances that had us all captivated. It was perfect for the whole family, with something for everyone to enjoy. The dancers, musicians, and fire performers were all top-notch, making this a memorable night we’ll be talking about for a long time. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Waikiki!

    Surprisingly fabulous!
My brother and I took my elderly parents to the Luau and show based on the great reviews and we were not disappointed! Booking was simple but finding the venue was a little tricky. It is the 4th floor of the Hawaiian centre which is like a shopping area on the Main Street. Once there we were greeted and seated on a long table with others. It was all very organised and on time. We had fresh pineapple on the tables and our free drink (delicious - not too strong) and were entertained with dancers whilst we ate our delicious and plentiful buffet dinner. We were then ushered into a big theatre where we watched a fabulous show which took us through the ages of Hawaiian music . Elvis and Michael Jackson’s performances were outstanding. A fabulous evening for all ages!

After what seemed like years of not going out with lock down, we decided on Rock a Hula for a girls night out, birthday celebration with all my besties. We opted for the VIP front row dinner and show and and we were not disappointed! We were a group of nine, everyone with varying food choices, gluten free, vegan, vegetarian. The staff was lovely, taking care of all our needs and the timing was impeccable. I chose steak and lobster and was very happy! The salad that came before was a work of art. Gorgeous and topped with a lobster tail. I wish I had a photo, (regrets!) The show was fantastic, it was a beautifully produced Vegas level type of performance. The dancers and singers were mesmerizing. Elvis came down to our table and sang to our birthday girl. We were dancing in our seats! We all live here and have been to all of the luaus and seen all the touristy types of shows. Been there done that. From now on, whenever I have someone visit, I’m definitely choosing this over any other show or luau. It was that good! After we finished dinner and Rock a Hula was over, we went to the piano bar run by the show. They had $5 drinks and an old school pianist who played all of our requests, we danced and it was a great way to finish our night.
Just a note, when we were going into the dinner show, I did notice they had a luau option if you wanted. The table settings looked beautifully decorated and the food smelled delicious. Something to think about if you’re thinking you want a more “traditional” luau experience and perhaps want to try some Hawaiian food. Parking was easy in the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center. Being in Waikiki was a bonus, as taking a bus way out to the other side of the island and back makes for a very long evening. A great night was had by all!

This show was so entertaining! Rock a Hula is a really well choreographed, professional show with first class dancers and entertainers. It was non stop action for close to 80 minutes, and the show was teeming with talent. Drinks at the bar were only $10 and although we didn’t eat the diners seemed to be enjoying themselves.

The show itself was a revue through the ages and included early Hawaii, the 1920s, 1930s, etc up to Elvis, then Michael Jackson. There was a dedication to the great Hawaiian singer IZ, and then a sampling of Tahitian music and a magnificent fire dancer. Hawaiian dances were sprinkled throughout, with lots of hula. A great band and the hosting talent of Meleana Brown, the lead singer made for a great show.

The dancers were all really good, and so were the singers. The impersonators nailed their performances. All in all it was a fantastic show and a fun night out. If you haven’t gone to see it, just go. You’ll have fun.

The show is more Cruise Ship Quality than Cirque Soleil but I suspected before buying the tickets, just by viewing their Website. For reference I have seen Cirque’s “MJ One” and this show doesn’t have big Vegas $ behind it, but it’s still a good time as a comparable.

The food is totally Cruise Ship but the service is not so hot. But considering you’re on an island during a pandemic, it’s one of the best entertainments going.

Expect an older crowd, I’d say the average age is retired but that’s the audience they are playing to with Hawaii through decades, Elvis and MJ. Enjoy it for what it is.

What an amazing family show! There is definitely something for all ages. My teenage kiddos enjoyed the fusion with Michael Jackson. You should've seen them when "Thriller" came on; great choreography and showmanship from the dancers. Oh and btw they also have a little museum of items from the artists they feature...we loved that too. I loved the local artist they featured that night and her spin on local music, even her duet to "Somewhere over the rainbow", with Brother Iz! The workers from the ticket booth, the photography and those who helped with seating were pleasant and kind. Thanks Deyvon, one of the amazing workers that night, for a great experience. Overall we enjoyed ourselves that night and would definitely recommend to those who are looking for a luau show, with a fusion of great music and a nice blast from the past (thanks Elvis & MJ)! We're hoping to go again soon and try their music lounge.

Wow, I'm stunned at some of the reviews here, so certainly want to add mine. We thought this was a WONDERFUL show. (We knew better than to eat at a theater, we only went for the evening show.) The Elvis and Michael Jackson performers were outstanding in both voice and dance moves. The local female hostess also had a beautiful voice as did her backup singers. ALL the dancers were fantastic, and the show was delightful. (We also really enjoyed the slideshow 'through the decades" showing Hawaii as it once was and is now.) We definitely received full value in this show. We were only disappointed at how poorly attended it was, and I sure hope that goes away after the pandemic. These performers knocked themselves OUT for our tiny group of theatergoers, and they deserve a MUCH better crowd. The theater needs to do a MUCH better job of marketing the show for them!

Rock a Hula was a pleasant surprise during a 10 day trip to Waikiki for Christmas and New Years. The singers, the musicians, the dancers, and especially the lead singers and their impressions, were all spectacular. We enjoyed the performance much more than we expected. The show is a fun adventure through Hawaii’s musical past, Elvis’s visits in Hawaii, and MJ’s visits. The MJ performer looks incredibly similar, having so many of the mannerisms and dance moves down. Personally I really enjoyed watching the performer as Elvis. I’ve watched a lot of YouTube videos on Elvis, and how he would work a crowd, flirt with the ladies, and stay locked with the band. This guy did it all! He came out in the crowd, had the ladies laughing and smooching while he passed around his scarfs… it was such an entertaining throwback. As well, after the show, everyone hangs around and takes pictures if you’d like. So much fun! I really recommend attending Rock a Hula. You will be entertained and enjoy a very well done show. The sound in the room is top notch too - loud, but not piercing. Everything was clear and audible and the band is great! Seriously - you will have fun. Go! Do some brush up on your Elvis videos and then enjoy how great the performer pulls off the act. We didn’t have the dinner prior to the show, but it looked great when we walked in before showtime. — For those complaining about the price, everything in Hawaii, especially in Waikiki, is overpriced. HELLO it’s a tourist trap in paradise. Stop complaining, go to this show, enjoy the nostalgia and the history of Hawaiian music, and have a great time. If you can afford to be in Honolulu, your life is okay. I promise you will enjoy this :)

I am a local and it’s the first time I’ve ever been to this show. I was hesitant at first because I thought it would be too touristy. I was pleasantly surprised and had the best time with my girl friends. We sang and clapped toElvis and Michael Jackson and the impersonators were fantastic. We had the dinner option for the show and it was sooo delicious and much fancier than I had thought. Great presentation, delicious food, staff friendly and helpful and a super fun show! Highly recommend the show and dinner for sure!

We purchased the show only tickets. We loved the performance. It’s a great value for the price. Reading the reviews on trip advisor, we were a little worried but the show was even better than we expected. The location is in the heart of Waikiki and easy to find. I will definitely recommend this show to family and friends that will be visiting Oahu in the future.

The show was very entertaining and enjoyable. It was a cross between a hula show and a show-show. Very well done.

My biggest complaint (and the reason I can’t give it 4 or 5 stars) is that their accommodations for the disabled are truly lacking. My husband is in a scooter. The regular seats are upstairs and I guess they don’t have an elevator. Because of this, we were led to the ground floor of the theater where people were eating their dinners and sat at a table off to the side, kinda haphazardly. We were off to the side of the stage so we never saw the full affect of the show. When we enquirer about moving to one of the empty tables, we were told they were for people buying dinner. However, no one showed up during the show to sit at those tables.

My husband is a 100% disabled veteran. This show needs to make better arrangements for the disabled. They deserve better treatment.
