- renickc20240 contributionsGlad we made the tour anyway....Tory our Trolly driver was exceptional . However, we booked a tour on the open trolly and received a generic closed window trolly. It was difficult to see unless you were in the front seat. The seats looked large and clean on the pictures.. They were clean but not large. My husband is 245 lbs and jam 130 lbs. My shoulder was overlapped by his. A little tight. Glad we made the tour anyway.Written August 29, 2024

Within the 1-1/2 hour tour, travelled around to the mansions and other fancy houses on Bellevue Avenue, along with going by Brenton Point. Parking was really easy at America's Cup Avenue next to the Newport Marriott. Seats were very comfortable as well. Would do this again.Written June 10, 2024

A beautiful day with no crowds in Newport. Our group was all accounted for early so off we went with Troy, an experienced, friendly guide who shared a wealth of info while at the same time adding his own sense of humor. The trolley was very comfortable and Troy managed the sometimes narrow streets with no problem at all. Would recommend that anyone visiting the mansions download the app for audio tours and bring needed devices for a video tour of the mansions visited.

Troy, the tour guide, was wonderful and had a great sense of humor. The Breakers is a beautiful mansion and definitely worth the tour. The only downside was the parking was the parking at the terminal which is $2.50 per half hour-$17.50 total for the time we were there. Parking is reduced if you use the free shuttle to $5 for the whole day. So, if you can utilize the free shuttle prior to going on any tour you can save some money and be able to stay and take in the town without the garage fees piling up.

Russ, our driver/guide, made this tour an absolute pleasure. He had a great sense of humor and was very knowledgeable about Newport, including it's history from founding to present day.
He pointed out all the sights, gave us history and information about each one, and stopped whenever possible for pictures.
When we got to the area with all the mansions, he described when it was built, the family that built it (and how that family made its money), and how that mansion may have changed hands over the years.
The tour inside the Breakers tour was well worth the additional charge over the cost of the 90-minute cityguide! Book directly with the company to save money.
I recommend this 3-hour tour very highly and you'll be fortunate if you get Russ as your driver/guide!

The event began in a bus depot where we were met by our Driver Troy. He was personable and professional. After boarding the bus, we started to tour the City of Newport. The bus was comfortable and air conditioned for the tour duration. Troy made sure that he mentioned what side of the bus the location he was telling us about was pointed out. He was engaging with all on the bus and even picked out a few individuals to include in his conversations.
The tour of the Breakers Mansion was slightly overwhelming due to the size and luxury of the era this was built. Comfortable shoes are a must, as the inside/outside part of this event takes a good 90 minutes to do the complete tour of the Mansion. There are also a multiple number of gift shoppes to select merchandise in.

We did the Gilded Age Mansions trolley tour (which included admission into the Breakers mansion) and it was well worth it! Our guide was very friendly knowledgeable on both legs of the tour, sharing interesting information about all of the houses and other sites on the ride. We got an hour and half to spend at the Breakers mansion, allowing plenty time to tour the mansion, as well as browse the gift shop and grab a coffee in the Welcome Center before being picked up to return to our starting point. I would definitely recommend this tour, especially if you have never been to Newport and want an easy way to enjoy most of the city!

We enjoyed the tour very much. "Breakers" is spectacular. The 90-minute stop went by very quickly but was long enough to view the mansion and the grounds. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and an "aspiring" comedian which made the tour seem too short. The drive along Ocean Drive showed us many of the beautiful homes in that part of Newport. Will do the tour again if we return to Newport.

There is a convenient parking garage right next to where the tour starts from. The trolley itself was easy to find and our guide was very informative and enthusiastic. You get to see most of the mansions around Newport and even stop at the Breakers for an appropriate amount of time to do the self guided tour and walk around the property. Trolley brings you back to the starting point where there is access to the free (during the summer) city bus if you want to go and tour more of Newport by yourself after the tour. Overall a great way to see most of the sights quickly if you’re doing a day trip to Newport.

We loved the tour and guide, Carlos. Carlos was very funny and knowledgeable. We especially loved that on top of there being an age minimum for this tour, they started out by asking people not to take phone calls or talk loudly to each other on the tour. It happened to be raining on the day we had booked our tour, before we took off they offered people a refund if they wanted to book another day but no one chose that option. We still saw everything on the tour despite the drizzly weather! This was a great way to spend a rainy day in Newport without having to walk or drive around in the weather. Would absolutely recommend you do this tour on your first day in town so you have an idea of other things to revisit later. The pick up and drop offs were perfectly on time and we were given the perfect amount of time to see the Breakers and take a spin around the gift shop before being picked back up. Well worth the money!

Driver (let’s call him George) narration was entertaining and informative. The tour had a good amount of road time and allowed ample time for the walking tour of the Breakers. My only disappointment occurred when disembarking. Our driver collected tips but tossed the cash on the dash. He was engaged in conversation when I passed him tip money. His hand was out, he didn’t make eye contact or acknowledge my gesture and kept talking to another guest.

Dear Tina, this is Carlos (George), your driver/guide. I want to thank you for sharing your positive experience on the tour while expressing your resentment about your tipping experience. I want to offer you my sincere apologies for not being able to do eye contact with each client getting off the trolley because one client was asking me questions at the same time. I do want you to know that your business first, and then your tip are very much appreciated by me and our company. May the good Lord keep on blessing you and your family for such great love ❤️!!!!

Can my Aunt bring her walker? It folds up.

When she gets to the Breakers, there is a small elevator for her and an employee to access the upper floor. It is the original elevator to the house. Very small. Room for 2 total. My travel companions used the stairs.

If we wanted to see breakers today could we exchange it for another house tour ?

We had no trouble getting in the Breakers July 4 week, but I also don’t know about exchanging tickets. You can easily see two in one day, though.

Does the 3 hours include the Breakers tour. We have a 11:30 tour and need to be on the cruise ship by 5. Any problems?
Written October 22, 2022
The Breakers are included in the 3 hours. You should be fine from a time perspective.
Written October 23, 2022
Do you know if the 1:00 pm tour will get you back to the cruise ship in time if it’s scheduled to leave at 5.
Written September 7, 2022
Tour is 3 hours and they keep to the time exactly so should give you time to rush back to the cruise ship. Just make sure you dont plan another tour or visits after this one. Traffic in the city is light but keep 1 hour to be safe for travel time.
