- Flyingboy580 contributionsNice small museum. It’s a small museum with a tour required. It cost $12. There are some videos to watch which were interesting. The room itself is restored after having other uses over the years. I liked it.Written September 27, 2023

- William F0 contributionsAn Important But Lesser Known StoryThe site goes well beyond just being the place where TR became president; it puts the era of Gilded Age industrialization, robber barons, immigration, and the rise of Buffalo to national prominence into a more meaningful context. - RBE-travels0 contributionsVery interesting and well doneThis is a great museum... very knowledgeable guided tour with a few "movie" or recorded things to listen to. The mansion is well kept and really beautiful. After the tour, there is the entire upstairs to really explore more. We were fortunate that we were the only two on the tour so we could take as long as we wanted. I recommend it!! Easily spend 2 hours because there is a lot to read in the upper area after the tour.Written February 9, 2020
- Jehu7200 contributionsA Great ExperienceI have been there a lot -- and the Christmas season is a great time to go -- the entire house is decorated for Christmas. If you go at another time, it's also great. I am from Buffalo and have learned a lot about Buffalo history visiting this mansion over the last ten years. I highly recommend it.Written December 16, 2019
- Voyager7733360 contributionsA Pleasant and Educational SurpriseI had little knowledge of how President Teddy Roosevelt was inaugurated but a tour of this house explained all of that in quite interesting detail. This tour was recommended to me from a local friend and it was fascinating. It was a wonderful trip back in time to an important and tragic event in US Presidential history. By all means, walk through this house and take the guided tour. It's well worth the time.Written October 8, 2019
- garyconnie45920 contributionsWell worth the visti! The interactive room prior to the tour was fun and informative. Our guide, Del, did such a wonderful job of taking us back to the time of Teddy Roosevelt's inauguration and the events leading up to it. It was also fun to be "President" for a few minutes. This venue is very well done!Written August 18, 2019

Have been a presedential nerd since I was a kid. Love all the history of our presidents and obviously love my city. This place had a great guided tour and I learned some really fascinating new facts about the assassination of President Mckinley I was not aware of as well as new information about President Roosevelt again I was not aware of. Highly recommend this place for anyone interested in presidential history.

We had a couple of hours to kill on a rainy afternoon in Buffalo. Why not finally check this place out.
Our initial annoyance after having fed numerous quarters into a parking meter only to discover the site had a large, free lot in the back was immediately lifted when we learned that our senior National Parks card allowed us free admission.
Our knowledgeable guide first took us into a room with both audios and visuals that sort of catapulted us back in time to give us a sense of Gilded Age America for both the haves and have nots. (The audio with simulated screams at the assassination attempt of McKinley touched a really touched a nerve after having witnessed last summer's attack on Salman Rushdie at nearby Chautauqua.)
From there we were treated to a tour of select rooms in this gorgeous 19th century mansion that the inauguration took place in. Our guide told us that we were free to take pictures but unfortunately rushed us through before we could do so.
We did have an opportunity for a little independent play time on some of the interactive exhibits. I especially enjoyed having my picture taken as I posed as president.
Despite some very minor gripes, I am glad we went.

A very informative museum dealing with the period of the Pan American exhibit in Buffalo in 1901, the subsequent assassination of President McKinley, and the inauguration of President Theodore Roosevelt.
You see the actual room where Teddy Roosevelt was sworn in and the press he received. This was a learning experience and highlighted the importance of Buffalo, New York at the beginning of the twentieth century.

A brilliant site of American history. It is an extraordinary building which is well preserved with original items. It’s hard to comprehend how important the events of Roosevelt were during this national crisis.
To stand in the very room where Roosevelt became President is both humbling and amazing.
There is some free parking on site as time has moved on the city has grown around this house so don’t be thrown off by the new business neighbors
There is a nice film which helps set the stage for your visit
Go enjoy

Lots of information about Teddy, how he came to be President and the things he implemented our country. We watched 3 videos and although our tour guide was very knowledgeable, we did feel rushed thru it. He told us we could take pics, but we weren't in a room long enough to take to many. We were the only 2 in this guided tour and it was the last one of the day. If you're into Presidential history, this is worth your time.

What a wonderful experience! Call ahead or book on line before you go. There is free parking available on site and the price is reasonable. They have a stocked giftshop full of Roosevelt items. The tour itself was extremely informative about the president and other key figures surrounding the assassination and assumption of the presidency. There is even an opportunity to have your picture taken at a replica White House office desk and enjoy interactive video exhibits.

What an absolutely wonderful National Park Site! There is so much information in just one house. One can learn about the Buffalo World's Fair, the death of President McKinley, the inauguration of Theodore Roosevelt to replace McKinley and TR's career as president. There is also some interesting interactive stations in the house. Our guide was really helpful; she gave a great explanation of everything.

This was a definite must see for anyone who has even a passing interest in Teddy . The museum was actually a home where he was inaugurated after Taft had suddenly died in Town . lots of period foto's and facts and items on display and very fascinating . the guided tour was extremely good and made the trip much more worthwhile . the volunteers who take u on the tour were all very well educated and more importantly enthusiastic . takes a few hours to complete . quite a refreshing bit of history . Note: this is not a museum about Theodore Roosevelt . it's about that day in history in buffalo . and in American history . extremely well done . I cant remember the name of my guide but a true local . knew everything and answered all my questions and more !!

I enjoyed the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural tour. It was a combination of recreated and original news clips and shorts, a very nice Pan Am Expo 1901 exhibit and interactive activities. The docent was very knowledgeable. I would have liked the docent to play a more important role in the entire experience. This is not a criticism of the docent but more of the way the tour is put together. The entire tour took about an hour. It was definitely worth the cost of the ticket. But it can be improved on by giving the docent a larger part in explaining the history of the times, in addition to reading about it.

We opted for the tour and found it very enjoyable. The guide pretended to take us back in time to the Roosevelt era. He was very informative and made hearing the historical information fun. The home was beautiful. There was a gift shop in the lobby. Glad we stopped!
