    What to Expect
After morning port pickup, climb aboard a comfy van and begin your 2-hour sightseeing shore excursion of Sitka, located at the edge of Baranof Island, one of the last stops of Alaska’s Inside Passage. Cross over the O’Connell Bridge and head on to Japonski Island, and hear from your informative guides about Sitka’s role in World War II.

Change up the scenery with a visit to Sitka National Historical Park. Admire the historical and cultural treasures of the Tlingit and Haida totem poles that stand in the forests of hemlock and spruce. Enjoy a peaceful stroll along the Indian River, and if you’re here during the salmon season, learn about the wondrous life cycle of the salmon.

Next, travel south on a scenic route along Silver Bay and arrive at the Fortress of the Bear, the largest bear reserve in North America. The habitat takes in orphaned bear cubs to live in a naturalized setting. Meet the caretaker staff and witness brown bears at play, from a fun and safe distance of 25 feet (8 meters) away.

Other popular landmarks you’ll see during your shore excursion include the Sitka Sound Science Center, Alaska Pioneer Home, Sheldon Jackson Museum and St Michael’s Cathedral.

Then, enjoy transport back to Sitka port.

    Worry-free Shore Excursion:

We will ensure your excursion ends with ample time for you to return to the Sitka Cruise Ship Dock for your ship’s departure. In the extremely unlikely event your ship has departed, we will arrange for transportation to the next port-of-call. If your ship is delayed and you are unable to attend this activity, your money will be refunded. See our terms and conditions for full details.

We had a pleasant resident driver. Six people were booked, but only four (my crew) made it, so there was plenty of room in the transport. The Raptor Center was great, although, had we made it 45 minutes later, we'd have seen witnessed a speaker addressing us with a bald eagle on

Met our guide and fellow visitors outside the easily found Harrigan Centennial Hall. There were only 6 of us which meant it was easy to ask questions and hear all the answers. Our guide made the tour interesting throughout and she also made it personal by telling us about her

This was a ego trip for the guide who spent the majority of our time driving around Sitka to all the places where SHE had some connection, ie, the area where she learned to drive! By the time we actually got to the Bear Sanctuary, we had very little time to enjoy watching the

This tour was fun and informative. The brief hike in the rainforest was spectacular. We saw a bald eagle and thousands of salmon lined up in a river getting ready to spawn. The bear refuge was fascinating as we saw both black and brown bears playing and feeding. Our guide was
