About the operator
- gloriappangman00A great historical tour of SantaFeI would highly recommend Ana’s walking tour. It is an easy walk for everyone, young and old with breaks along the way. Ana knows the history of Santa Fe well and I learned so much . She has also written several books if you care to explore further. She is personable and knowledgeable and her love of Santa Fe is evident. It is a town rich with history and she gives a great overview. This is THE walking tour to take. Thank you Ana for sharing your love of Santa Fe!
- Lindadavismoon00Visiting Santa Fe for a week vacation. We had a fantastic tour with Ana. Superlatives apply…I highly recommend her for your Santa Fe visit.
- danielmD5335TB00The Best Private Tour of Santa FeAna is not just an experienced historian, but also a fascinating storyteller. We learned so much about her home town of Santa Fe, it's history and architecture, and a lot of surprising facts about the connection to Igor Stravinsky and Ben Hur - I'm not going to spoil it. But just as important, she was very thoughtful of my mother who turned 90 during our visit and has limited mobility and heat tolerance, and was able to adjust the tour so we could all enjoy it. She has also authored a number of books available on her website and you get one if you arrange a private tour. I think we may need to get a couple more. I would definitely recommend this tour for anyone coming to Santa Fe.
- CaliforniaTraveler3700Walking Tour of Santa Fe HistoryI made a plan with Ana Pacheco, a former historian for the city of Santa Fe, a native, the author of several books, and, most important, a well-organized businesswoman and clear speaker. We were part of a group of six on a walking tour of about two hours. Our reservation was for two at a reasonable per person rate, and we were joined by four others. I especially appreciated Ana's humanism in understanding the city's historical development. This was definitely one of the best walking tours I have ever taken, and there have been plenty.

Ana weaved an exciting story that provided context for Santa Fe. I get to appreciate the place as a result. I didn’t expect the tour to be in vehicle most of the time. The plus side is I got to venture further afield. And if you prefer to be driven around town then this is ideal for you. I gave it a 3-star because I got to appreciate Santa Fe more through the story that Ana shared. But the pacing was fast for me, like getting fire-hosed. Ana has a great deal to share, but personally I would have preferred a slower pacing both in receiving the information about Santa Fe and when moving around town. Much of the time were spent staying in a single place listening to Ana’s story with printouts as visual aids. For those who prefer to be talked to, then you’ll appreciate Ana’s expertise. I prefer a slower paced communication than feels personable, thus the 3-stars.

A very informative and engaging tour. Ana is an excellent guide as a Santa Fe local with deep knowledge of the history of the city and New Mexico and plenty of funny stories of growing up in pre-gentrified Santa Fe. She also has great recommendations about where to eat and what to see so I recommend taking her tour at the start of your trip.

Ana was marvelous! She is local person with extensive historical knowledge. Rather than reciting dates and facts she puts everything into context in time and place. Terrific! Could have spent the whole day

Anna was a superb guide in all facets of her tour. I am a veteran tour guide in NYC and have hired many Guides and have taken Tours all over the world and Anna rates among the best. She is knowledgable and engaging, knows how to relate to her clients, interweaves her family's history into her tour. She is a historian with multiple books on Santa Fe history. She manages the tour extremely well, even being aware to keep her group in the shade on the hot sunny day we toured with her. She is never dry academic but her content is solid history related to the greater themes of American and Southwest history, geography, anthropology,, topography. Her opinions are clear but never dogmatic.

Our family did this walking tour with Ana Pacheco and it was great. She did a great job, shared a ton of information about Santa Fe and different types of history about Santa Fe. She has a good sense of humor. Kept it interesting. Great introduction to Santa Fe.

Ana is the best guide I have encountered. She is knowledgeable, professional and witty. The fact that she has family history to Santa Fe and she is a local lends more credibility and poignancy to her stories. We really enjoyed her tour! Anyone coming to visit Santa Fe should sign up with Ana for a tour!

We always take guided walking tours when we travel and I used to be a tour guide myself, so when I tell you this was one of the best we’ve ever experienced, it’s high praise. Ana, our guide, has written multiple books on Santa Fe history and she was fascinating. I am NOT a history buff whatsoever, but Ana was so dynamic and passionate that I was completely sucked in.
She suggested reading Willa Cather’s “Death Comes For the Archbishop,” which my husband read while on the trip and said he wished he read it prior to coming. We hadn’t planned to visit Los Alamos, but after taking Ana’s tour, we revised our itinerary to go there and I’m so glad we did.
I learned so much that was interesting not just about Santa Fe history, but US history. She told us we’d learn how important New Mexico’s history was and she wasn’t kidding.
If you visit Santa Fe, this tour is an absolute must.

If you’re contemplating a walking tour of Santa Fe, I guarantee that you’ll have a terrific experience with Ana Pacheco. Ana’s enthusiasm is irrepressible and her knowledge and love of Santa Fe is quite apparent. She weaves a tale that goes far beyond standard facts and figures. The history of Santa Fe is unique on so many levels and my wife and I left the tour comparing all of the interesting things we learned. We really loved this tour!

Ana’s tour was exceptional! In addition to visiting importing and historical sites in Santa Fe, the history and background she provided was informative and educational. This is unequivocally the best tour I have ever had anywhere and I would not hesitate to recommend Anna’s tour to anyone visiting Santa Fe…. plus, Ana is immediately likeable and funny!
