- Head to the Revere Bell in front of the Salem Visitor Center, where the tour begins. Set off on a light walking tour of the historic town center with a guide who is also a historian and paranormal investigator. Your guide will quickly delve into the history of the 17th-century Salem witch trials. Stop at Old Burying Point Cemetery, where you’ll find a witch trial judge's tombstone. Then, learn about the story of the slave Tituba, who was accused of practicing voodoo. Later, visit the Witch Dungeon to hunt for specters. The guide will help you search any photos you take for evidence of paranormal activity, such as orbs, apparitions, and ectoplasm. See, too, photos taken at some of Salem’s most haunted sites, and learn about how ghost hunters do their work. The tour takes a horror-story turn with New England vampire folklore and documented cases of blood-drinking, before finishing up back at the Revere Bell.

About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 550cristinaw0 contributionsDr Vitka is greatDr Vitka is a great tour guide! We had a blast. Learned so much about the history of Salem. He was kind, professional and entertaining. We were skeptical about one story he told us about an elderly man who killed and ate parts of his wife in MA but on the way home, we looked ot up and it was true! Would recommend for sure!Written September 2, 2024
- brittanyo9210 contributionsSpooky and EducationalSuper fun and spooky experience! We are locals and enjoyed bringing our daughter for her first time really seeing Salem. Our tour guide, Mike, was super enthusiastic and a wealth of creepy knowledge. Great twist to the history of the Salem.Written August 12, 2024
- tanyasK4862ET0 contributionsThe Scared and the SkepticalDr Vitka is an amazing guide. He is knowledgeable and communicates the history clearly and with zeal. I really like when guides want the tour group to ask them questions and relate their stories, which Dr. Vitka encouraged his group to do. Most of our group was eager to learn more due to his open and confident demeanor. Dr. Vitka was also aware of everyone's paces. He included times where the whole group could catch up, gave consideration to traffic and safety, and found places where we could sit momentarily. I loved the content too. Bridget Bishop's story was my favorite. It definitely did not feel like 1.5 hours! You will walk a lot, so keep that in mind if you have any mobility challenges. Sorry my photo is so blurry, but it's proof I was there! Tl;dr: Guide has all the knowledge and group management skills to make this tour fun.Written June 5, 2024

- Libberiffic0 contributionsInformative and fascinating, highly recommend!Dr. Vitka was great! You can tell he loves what he does and takes his craft seriously, And that is exactly who you want to be giving you a ghost/paranormal tour of Salem. He was kind enough to hang around at the end to answer our many questions. We loved getting his take on the darker side of Salem’s history and present day and had great insider suggestions of other things we should do during our stay. Highly recommend!Written November 14, 2022

The tour was captivating from the start. Our guide kept our attention and had a real talent for storytelling whether relating historical events or superstition! He also gave several tips on local places to visit and answered every question asked of him fully and with much theatrical flair. We really had a ton of fun on this tour I highly recommend it!

I've been on several ghost tours around the country, & this is the best one I've ever been on! Dr Vitka was incredible from start to finish, with extremely engaging storytelling & a great ability to set a spooky tone/atmosphere throughout. He mentions that his company has taken the time to do their own extensive research & makes sure that the stories they tell are the most accurate & true to fact in Salem. This made the tour even more enjoyable, as I was happy to learn the real history of Salem as well as compelling ghost stories of the area. I can't recommend this tour enough!

I highly recommend Mike’s tour. He is articulate and delivers the rich history of each location in question with vivid detail and proper speed. Be sure to take a lot of photos with flash during the night tours. You might capture something ... spooky.

Our family took the night tour and it was great! The tour guide was entertaining and informative, Dr. Vitka. It is definitely more of a haunted tour which we enjoyed. We had done many other tours and visited many museums during our stay and Spellbound was a definite favorite. It was exactly what we were looking for. It also lived up to the spookiness. We were with our 10 year olds and they were spooked but also loved that part of it. Highly recommend this tour for those interested in haunted locations and ghost stories.

Very personable and knowledgeable guide who is able to recount stories and history of the city in an engaging manner. The tour lasted approximately two hours and was well worth the money. If you have already visited the Salem Witch Museum, you will be familiar with many of the characters discussed. My two teenage daughters also really enjoyed it. I also did the same tour eight years previously and enjoyed it thoroughly then as well. Hopefully our next visit from the UK won't be another eight years in waiting!

What a fun and informative tour of the darker side of Salem. Dr. Vitka's delivery is exciting, in depth, and educational. He is an artful story-teller, and his tour is a must-see when in Salem. Dr. Vitka spent additional time after the tour entertaining participants' tales of ghostly encounters and sharing personal stories and experiences. We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend this tour!

Dr. Vitka is seriously the most amazing tour guide ever! He is the BEST story teller and had all us completely mesmerized with his stories! This is the original witch/ghost tour in Salem so they have tons of experience and he is an actual ghost hunter so he had lots of knowledge. We asked a million questions and he had answers for all of them. We did a trip of the New England states and this one of the funnest things we did. Take his tour, it’s so much fun!!

The tour guides are great, don't get me wrong, I have nothing bad to say about them, but these companies totally take advantage of you with the tours that they offer. Especially the way they advertise them, they are soooo misleading. This was my first time visiting Salem and I had relied a great deal on the reviews that were given when I was looking to book things to do during my stay and I am really disappointed how nobody spoke the truth. So I am going to speak the truth for any future visitor looking for honest feedback.
You don't SEE anything at all on this "tour", all you do is LISTEN and walk in a group for an hour and a half. The tour guide will point our where things "used" to be, but now they are something else, so you essentially see a modern structure in place of something that stood 300 years ago. You view a cemetery from behind a fence, and can't see anything because it is dark. You are not allowed into the cemetery, another misleading activity that the company wants you to think that you are doing while on this "tour". There is nothing scary on this tour and their are certainly no ghosts, it is simply a history lesson for an hour and a half walking around in the dark looking at where things "used" to be. I suggest you sightsee on your own, you see more.
Please do not fall prey to the words "Voodoo, Vampires and Ghosts", the only thing accurate in the title of this tour are the words "Walking". I can't even call it an actual "Tour". A tour is where you would actually view something.
