About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- monaleavitt0 contributionsAmazing! My husband is interested in purchasing an E-Bike so our vacation to Tucson we booked a E-Bike tour. Michael, our tour guide, was very helpful in teaching us how to operate the bike. We are not bike riders, but we found E -Bikes very easy to use. Our tour through Saguaro National Park was amazing and Michael is an excellent guide who is extremely knowledgeable about the park, it’s history and plant life. It was an enjoyable experience that will be talked about for a long time and we have pictures! Thank you!Written January 23, 2025
- Vacation168636398490 contributionsGreat E-Bike Guided Tour!National Park with Krista was absolutely incredible! From start to finish, Krista made the experience both educational and entertaining. Her deep knowledge of the park’s unique landscape, wildlife, and history added so much to the journey. She shared fascinating facts and stories with a great sense of humor, making every moment enjoyable. Krista was also fantastic about letting us set the bike pace, ensuring everyone in the group felt comfortable and could fully enjoy the ride. The e-bikes were easy to use and allowed us to cover more ground than we ever could have on foot, while still feeling connected to the beauty of the desert around us. I can’t recommend Tucson E-Bike Adventures enough—especially Krista! If you’re looking for a fun, active, and memorable way to explore the Sonoran Desert, this is it. We’ll definitely be back for another tour!Written January 15, 2025

- ronnak3730 contributionsE-Bike through the desert! Just Do It!The ride with Rochelle through the desert was an outstanding experience! Before heading out, she taught me how to operate the bike and I practiced. During the excursion, we made several stops along the way for a few minutes, and Rochelle shared information about the plants and animals that live in that environment. It was so much fun to ride with the power of the e-bike, through the magnificent desert landscape. I was able to enjoy everything around me! I highly recommend this excursion with Pedego!Written May 5, 2024
- Adventure677165156880 contributionsNice day on bikes. We rented some electric bikes from James at Pedego. The shop is right on the loop so super handy. We were checked out and in the bikes in about 29 minutes after arriving. The Pedego bikes worked great and the instructions were very good about where to go and how to safely ride the trails in Tucson. We ac a nice 2 hour ride and dropped the bikes Al back at the shop. It’s a great way to see a part of the loop.Written May 4, 2024

- Earlywalker0 contributionsPoor fit on the bikeI rented an Interceptor ebike so I could keep up with my hubby on the Loop. The young man who rented the bike put me on the 24" Interceptor, and when I did the test ride in the parking lot, I had difficulty getting on the bike. The handle bars and seat were too close together. I told the guy that, and he said, "No, it's perfect for you." I should have been more assertive and insisted on a bigger bike than this one, but I took it anyway. Bike operated well, and I was able to keep up with my husband, but had trouble mounting and dismounting safely anytime we stopped. We did ride 36 mi and it was a beautiful day. However, my wrists hurt most of the way back because the handlebars were too close to me, bending my wrists awkwardly. My elbows were next to my body, preventing good control of the bike.. My tusch hurt because I couldn't sit far enough back to create distance between me and the handlebars. I told the young guy at the shop all about this when I returned the bike. Instead of being apologetic, he said, "Next time we'll have to put you on a bigger bike." Sorry, I won't be renting from your shop again.Written March 24, 2024

- kfwsuisse0 contributionsA MOST UNHAPPY EXPERIENCEOur friend who lives in Tucson suggested we rent E-bikes during our recent visit from Europe. James attended to us and was rude, impatient and insulting from the outset. My husband mentioned he had to be careful of the sun. James’ response: don’t come to Arizona ! He presented us with 2 bikes and again shouted at my husband as he tried to mount the bike, incorrectly in his eyes. I was then presented with an overload of information regarding speed, gears, accelerators etc. but worst of all, my feet could not touch the ground. I went around the parking lot once and was admonished for not having changed gears and when I indicated I wasn’t sure what to do, he spat back: I've told you 3 times!! I replied I must be very stupid and made a second attempt around the parking lot. Getting back to the start, I stopped, braked and immediately toppled over because my feet did not touch the ground. I knew I had hurt my wrist and a couple of hours spent at Urgent Care confirmed a fracture. A subsequent visit to the orthopedic hospital now finds me in a cast for the next month. Needless to say I would not recommend this shop.Written March 16, 2024

The tour was great! My husband and I learned a lot about the park and all the wildlife and plants that inhabit it. Mike & James were so accommodating and were always checking to see how comfortable we were with our bikes and asking if we had any questions. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone that would like to traverse the park to see the many different sites it has to offer as well as getting a good workout. The bikes were awesome too because you put in as much effort as you wanted. Thanks again for the wonderful experience guys!

I had an absolutely amazing experience on my e-bike tour! My guide was incredibly knowledgeable, and it was clear how passionate he is about Tucson and its stunning surroundings. Throughout the tour, he shared fascinating facts and stories about the area that truly brought it to life. His enthusiasm was contagious, and he made the entire experience enjoyable and educational. The e-bike made it easy to cover more ground while taking in the beautiful scenery. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Tucson—it’s a fantastic way to explore the area and learn from someone who genuinely loves what they do.

There were four of us ladies (age 60 to 67) and we did the half day Saguaro National Park East tour. Our guide, John, was EXCELLENT. He was patient, kind, encouraging (varying abilities) and very informative on the area's history and nature. The bikes were a blast, and John certainly made the whole thing more fun. Although we would have liked the option to purchase a gel seat, we all give this experience a full 10!

Nice park.
Can be viewed while driving and that may be better.
Great area for cyclists riding through the park but not as visitors riding e-bikes viewing the park. Cyclists frequent the park and the area is more suited for such a ride. This may also be the case due to the heat. I visited at 10am and the temperatures were nice at 60-65 degrees. After riding for 30 minutes, it did start to feel warm and it can get hot quickly.
As stated by Suzanne A and Abby R, not sure about the professionalism displayed by James, the owner. I found him to be callous and inconsiderate. As others stated, the e-bikes are of average standard, at best. Not the quality one expects for the high price charged.
Our group was four riders and one guide. This was manageable. I would find this tour to be difficult with six or more riders.
Overall, do not recommend. Customer care is lacking. I am familiar with e-bikes but did not find the operator to show consideration for rider care or comfort. The focus is taking payment and having the waiver signed and less so on the experience. Our guide (Carol) was considerate and showed compassion.

I signed myself and my mother up for this e-bike tour, thinking that the point of e-bikes is accessibility to otherwise inaccessible spots. Unfortunately, our guide, Scott Hotchkiss, did not seem to care about accessibility or inclusion at all. He had very poor leadership skill and he was incredibly rude to my mother. He purposefully left her behind throughout the ride. Scott made rude comments about her ability to participate, stating that the group should all go in front and leave her behind "so the rest of us can enjoy ourselves". He also made us feel unwelcome by saying this ride was not for beginners. If that it the case, please make that more clear on the website, I did not see that verbiage anywhere before signing us up. (The website also does not say the tour includes some single track riding, and Scott did not prepare the group for this, either). He was not welcoming, nor did he provide sufficient instruction prior to our ride, making us feel unsafe and scared. Luckily my mother is a good sport, but she did come away with a few injuries, not that Scott noticed or cared. The bikes were fine, the landscape was gorgeous, but unfortunately the lack of appropriate leadership was detrimental to our experience. I do not think this company is bad, but I would recommend thoroughly screening and training the guides so that other people can avoid this unfortunate experience.

We sure appreciate your input regarding the ride, as her experience is certainly not what we’re after. As a result, we have made our tour description more clear, and have included better bike option alternatives and guide training to make sure more people have a better experience. Thank you, once again.

This was a wonderful experience! The bikes were in great condition and easy to learn to ride, the route was scenic, the owner, James, was very welcoming (even showed me the nearby javelina while we were waiting for others to arrive), and the guide, Mike, was fantastic -- friendly, accommodating, and able to convey a wealth of information in a conversational way on our periodic stops. He also took photos and videos of us, which he air dropped to the group. This is a great way to experience Saguara National Park East, and I highly recommend this adventure!

I took a morning tour with James through Saguaro National Park. James called me the day before the tour to check my height so when I arrived at the meeting point on the morning of the tour he had a bike perfectly suited for me ready to go. I'd never ridden an e-bike before but James gave very clear instructions and tips on what peddle assist speed to travel so it was very easy and so much fun. Our tour started at 7:30am and finished at 10:30am. It was a lovely time to do the tour and not too hot. We had a small group including a Tucson resident and she and I both enjoyed the ride and the stops along the way including a rare cristate saguaro. James was an excellent guide who shared his knowledge about saguaros, the local wildlife and Tucson including tips on where to buy the best Sonoran dogs! I highly recommend Pedego Tucson and in particular their tour of the Saguaro National Park. Thanks so much James I loved the tour and it was one of the highlights of my trip to the US.

Both of the guides on this trip were GREAT!!!!!!!! I would recommend this trip for anyone that has any interest in the Southwest. We were given a very intimate ( only 8 people) tour of the Saguaro National Park. They both offered great information ranging from Biology to Geology to Geography. It was all offered in a friendly way. It was clear that our guide loved doing what he was doing. Keep up the great work.
