- 605JaneD0 contributionsWell worth it!Great experience seeing a variety of important city sights with and end at watching the Tabernacle Choir during rehearsal (which was amazing!) Tour guide was a lot of fun and even dressed in character There is a decent amount of walking and stairs Well, worth it and not too challenging, but definitely not for someone who has A lot of mobility problemsWritten October 25, 2024
- katieoC4787XX0 contributionsFine Experience - Not Fully Worth ItThe tour itself was operated well, however in hindsight the price was steep for what we experienced. I didn't realize the Choir itself is free to the general public so the price is really just for the bus tour. The tour was fine, but not spectacular, so the price doesn't seem quite worth it to be truthful.Written October 23, 2024

He was well informed, a good speaker, and made every segment of the tour interesting. A great value for the money. - Danny D0 contributionsHow Salt Lake City became what it is today.Tour was extremely well managed. All contacts with Viator were handled professionally and expediently. The guide/driver was outstanding. He had a great knowledge of the area and of the history of Utah and the LDS. He kept us interested and informed us of many important historical facts. We had a group of 10 and all were extremely complimentary. I will continue to utilize Viator to enhance our traveling experiences.Written October 18, 2024

The tickets we bought said that the itinerary included an hour at the Great Salt Lake, and an hour at Great Salt Lake Park. Instead we got a very interesting guide that took us straight to the lake and then back to where we were picked up for the tour. Not sure this is worth the money. If the tour guide shared some descent history or included a pass by of the church and the capital building that would of increased my stars to 3.

The tour did the same route and time as always. Sorry that you misread the itinerary. The lake tour is only about the lake. The City Tour is another tour.

Definitely not worth the price as, while the guide was quite nice, the tour itself was simply driving to the lake and standing around for about 25 minutes. The rest of the time was driving on the interstate to get there and back. We could have done that on our own. This should be combined with viewing other sights in the area.

Yes, all guided tours simply do just that. They GUIDE PEOPLE and show them places, things, history, stories and answer many questions. Anyone can research and do all this on there own time. They can drive there own vehicle at there expense, find parking, pay entrance fees. However they are experts and won't exactly know the best places to go. You are right! Everyone can do these things on there own.

Very disappointed, guide did not stop at Saltaire on return from lake as advertised. There are also no stops on way to lake, while description mentions several stops on the way out. Save your money and take the short drive to the lake, park fee is very nominal.

Jennifer, we are sorry you expected to stop at SaltAir pavillion. It is closed to visitor's. In our description of what to expect on this 2 hour tour, we do not advertise stopping there. You are always welcome to request a refund. We want to make sure you feel you were treated fairly. Please contact OUR office, NOT VIATOR. Remember: Viator is a seller of tickets; they do not necessarily fully represent our company and often they do not.

The major bummer is the drought. Other than to be able to say I saw it, I don't recommend this trip. The guide did everything she could possibly done to make the trip interesting, so there is absolutely no faulting how she did.
We saw people actually float in the water, because they said you cannot sink because the lake is at least 13% salt. The ocean she says is only 3% salt. The north side of the lake which we did not see is supposed to be 27% salt.
The Great Salt Lake, although not so great here, is 75 miles x 40 miles, and thus the largest salt lake on earth. The dead sea was something like 30 X 40 miles I think she said.
There are only these little brine shrimp about a half inch long. There are some birds but no fish other than that.

Sorry you didn't like the lake. It is not for everyone as you testify. Others view the lake as one of the wonders of Earth's formation. Their opinions are on the opposite end of the spectrum. As you know, 'the ancients' have said: "It's all in the eye and mind of the beholder".

The lady driver was very pleasant provided an oral history of the area. Drove to the lake let us out to do whatever you wanted to do and then drove us back to our hotels. If you are in Salt Lake City and do not have a car it might be a worthwhile tour. Otherwise drive yourself to the lake and save your money. Definitely was not worth the time or cost.

There is a lot more to the tour than you have described.
It is a 50-mile route, guide narration and entrance fees are included. It would take many hours of research and study to get the same information given in a 2 hour guided tour.
If you pay attention to the narrative, a lot of history and explanation of the scenery is offered.

Great Salt Lake was historically low and there was little to see. Plus guide told humorous stories as opposed to facts about the region. Trip was 1/2 less than scheduled as guide was going to a family reunion. Very dissaponinting.

This tour was a good overview of SLC and its history. The guide Win was knowledgable, informative, and entertaining. We enjoyed getting off the comfortable bus to walk through the capitol building. Being a retired organist, I very much enjoyed the organ recital at the tabernacle.
The tour was the perfect length of time for us who were passing through.

Kevin was informative but the main complaint was his driving. He would accelerate fast and break hard. He would throw us around so we begin to hold ourselves by the seats with anticipating the next acceleration or brake. He certainly doesn’t care about his employers vehicle.

This doesn't sound like Kevin. The roads going to the lake must be double axle because of the rugged road off the highway. Side roads are very bumpy, and the bus has rugged tires. As you know, seat beats should be fastened and that give a much more comfortable ride.

Mallory was friendly and knowledgeable about all things regarding the city’s history and, of course, the Salt Lake and its surroundings! We enjoyed having a person tour guide, air-conditioned transportation included, instead of just driving out to the Lake on our own! Highly recommend it! Thanks Mallory!

Our tour guide Kevin really made this tour interesting and amusing. The 2 1/2 hour tour proved to be the best as most of the Temple Square is under construction so we saw more outside of downtown. The company went out of its way to contact us and offer options when the shorter tour was canceled due to mechanical difficulties and then returning something I forgot on the bus . Great customer service!

Thank you for your wonderful review! We're thrilled to hear that Kevin made your tour both interesting and amusing. We're glad you enjoyed seeing more of the area, especially with the changes due to construction at Temple Square. We appreciate your kind words about our customer service and are happy we could assist with the rescheduling and returning of your lost item. Thank you for choosing our tour!

Is there public transportation to the Great Salt Lake? We are 11 persons and would love to spend the day over there and on Antelope Island. We are not interested in going for one hour. But we are there without a car. What would you recommend to get there and also get on Antelope Island?
Written October 9, 2019
There is no public transportation to Great Salt Lake or to Antelope Island. Both are state parks with entrance fees, Antelope Island is a solid 1 hour of driving from Salt Lake City and has additional fees to drive on the causeway. But no, there is no public transportation possible. If you don’t have a car, take a bus tour.

If we have a car, is this tour worth the money. For anyone who did the tour but could of just driven themselves, do you feel the info/stories/history given was worth the price you paid? We have a group of 6 so I’m looking at 266.00 for all of us to do this tour.

I would drive my self to the lake and save the money. I highly recommend the city tour.

How long is this tour from time of pick up to time of drop? And how long is spent at the site of interest?
Written June 10, 2019
Our tour was just under 2 hours total. We spent under 30 minutes at the lake and about 15 minutes in the gift shop. We felt the majority of the time was spent on the bus.
