Emily was very informative! I loved the way she told the story and how she seemed so enthused to be doing so! She made everyone on the tour comfortable and seems to know a lot of people that live in the neighborhood (which is great as they all spoke to her). My husband was very impressed with the information, as this was an eye opener for him. He was glad that I suggested we did this tour because he learned a lot of details that transpired before his time. I highly recommend this tour to those visiting Atlanta and to those that already live in Atlanta as you learn something new everyday!

We had an excellent experience with this tour. Emily was our guide and she made the past come alive with stories and tidbits of interesting information. She is obviously passionate about the information and she had a way of putting events into context that gave clarity to key events. She could have easily cancelled on us as my husband and I were the only people on the tour, but she proceeded just as if a larger group had been present. Truly worthwhile!

This tour was terrific! We learned so much about the people and events of the Civil Rights Movement and also Atlanta's history. But it was NOT just a dry history lesson! Our tour guide made the people come alive and helped the events of prior years come to life and fit into the timeline of our own lives. I was especially fascinated to learn about Mayor Hartsfield. Also, I had just read Senator Warnock's autobiography, so to see many of the places and learn about people that I had read about brought a new dimension to the experience. I would HIGHLY recommend this tour! (Note: I am from out of town and took the tour with my adult son who is a resident of Atlanta, and the tour was fascinating for both of us!)

The MLK walking tour was AMAZING and I have to give all the credit to Joy, our guide. The tour itself was a few hours of non strenuous walking through the historic Old Fourth Ward neighborhood- it allowed me to experience the history in a better way than riding a bus or in a car would be. You make stops along the walk to discuss different people in history that made Atlanta, and the world, a better place. Joy brings along a flip book of the people she’s discussing. So, it’s not just a stop, “look at this building” and walk away to the next kind of thing. It’s a stop, “look at this historic building and let me show you the face of the person I’m telling you about” kind of thing. It was integrated to give it more of a personal feel. She also has an iPad she brings out at different points to play historic clips or speeches, which gave me chills, and made me really feel in the moment. It was just “different” in a GOOD way, than other tours I’ve been on. I can’t recommend this walking tour enough!

Our tour guide, Leigh, was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable! She took time to get to know all of us on the tour (10 participants) and created a warm relationship between us! We learned so much, not only about Martin Luther King, Jr. but about others instrumental in pushing for Civil Rights. When places are open again once the pandemic resolves , we will go back to learn more. Totally enjoyed the tour!

This tour was a wonderful way to contextual MLK’s life and the role that Atlanta played in the Civil Rights Movement. And tucked in were fun historic tidbits and pop culture reference. Our tour guide Joy was warm and engaging and made the entire experience interesting and fun. I would highly recommend this tour.

Wow! Where do I begin? This tour exceeded my expectations for our group of young local teens. Emily was was engaging, funny, and brought to life the excitement and struggles of living in Sweet Auburn. She highlighted our local heroes, the rich and beautiful civil rights legacy of Atlanta, with unique touches like the Madame CJ Walker Museum. This tour is way more than the usual facts about Dr. King’s life. Prepare to be amazed!

We thoroughly enjoyed taking a walk along MLKs home neighborhood starting at the park honoring his legacy. Our group of 6 learned so much history from our well informed and enthusiastic tour leader, Arielle. MLKs story of inspirational courage and the role Atlanta plays in the civil rights movement is so important to our understanding of the current voting rights struggle. Go take this tour to learn and share the story. Thank you, Arielle. Excellent tour choice on a cloudy day.

Emily out guide made everyone feel at ease. She was a great storyteller. Her background in theater was very apparent! History came alive as we walked along Auburn. We would not have had the same experience or learned all of the significance of many who worked for progression in civil rights. She also gave us tips for our visit to Atlanta. My 18 and 14 year olds enjoyed it- kept their attention & kept them involved!

We had an absolutely incredible experience with Lee as our tour guide. She was so engaging and fun to listen to…her delivery was phenomenal! We had two kiddos with us, 8 & 9, who enjoyed the tour just as much as mom and dad. I would highly recommend this wonderfully moving experience to anyone looking for something engaging, educational, and incredibly moving while visiting (or living in) Atlanta!
