Great Beauty calm waters and very informative
Sep 2019
We were picked up at our hotel and driven to the launch site. We walked a few yards to our awaiting boat. There were about 20 other people on the pontoon and we felt very safe. We started at the foot of the Hoover Dam and journeyed down river. Our guide was very informative and took his time explaining the area. We stopped for a snack which was provided and had some time to go swimming. It was very worth the price and time

Great day!
Nov 2019 • Couples
The river tour is on a large raft that goes down the Colorado River on the release side of the Hoover Dam. Smooth water and great information from the operator of the raft. The employees of the Black Canyon River adventure are very friendly, knowledgeable and friendly.
A great way to spend time outside in the fresh air and beautiful waters of the Colorado River. A very strong chance to see wildlife, we had a herd of Big Horn sheep on the rivers edge!

In depth info on Hoover Dam
Oct 2019
Russell our raft man was excellent he explained the area in detail and gave lots of history on the area and the building of the structure. The raft ride was not much while enjoyable we probably went the length of a football fild in the water. This tour to me was all info about the area

Quality day out
Aug 2019
A Fabulous day out ; timely pick up by a friendly driver , quick registration and then a great day mooching down the river from the awe-inspiring Hoover Dam to a quick beach stop and a dip in the welcoming freezing cold river before disembarking at Willow Beach for the trip home.
Very knowledgeable and entertaining guide , lots of wildlife to spot too - just make sure you drink plenty of water as you're quite exposed on the raft - best to sit at the front so you get the breeze and the spray to keep cool

Awesome day on the Colorado River!
Mar 2019 • Family
We took the 3 hour Black Canyon raft tour from Lake Mead (Hoover Dam) to Willow Beach. This was a great tour.. really fun, super informative, and very relaxing, with amazing views. Our tour guide, Matt was awesome.. we could tell that he loves his job as well as the whole canyon/river area. All staff were very pleasant, helpful and accommodating. Lunch was delicious. Water was plentiful. This tour was the favorite activity of our whole group on our weeklong trip to Vegas and the Grand Canyon. We also enjoyed meeting and chatting with the other folks on the tour with us. Couldn’t have been a better day!

Wonderful Excursion
Jun 2018 • Couples
During a weeklong trip to Vegas, we saw this trip listed in one of the area guides and decided to give it a try. The drive to the Lake Mead RV Village office is about 30 minutes from The Strip. We got there early and had to wait quite a while for everyone to arrive, so we ended up starting the tour about 20 minutes late. They drive you from the village office to the base of the Hoover Dam, where you board a raft for the trip. We took a 3-hour cruise down the Colorado River about 12 miles to a place called Willow Beach. Our tour guide was Jeff, who is very knowledgeable about the history of the river and the dam. The tour includes a zipper bagged lunch and reusable plastic water bottle (which you get to keep), a stop at a swimming area and your entrance fee for the Lake Mead Recreational Area. They provide all of the transportation in an air-conditioned bus which was a blessing since it was 106 degrees the day we went. They provide plenty of water and cool towels for the trip. If you sit near the front or on the sides of the raft you will get wet. It was VERY windy the day we went and pretty much everyone on the raft got soaked. I strongly suggest wearing a bathing suit (we did) under your clothes. We also had a water-resistant backpack with us and put our clothes in there after we arrived at the swimming area. The Colorado River is about 55-degrees in the summer, so it is brisk - even on a 106-degree day.
The tour was great and it was a wonderful way to see the area. We would do it again. The staff is all very professional and run a smooth operation.

No way would I do this again

So we get there. Once there, you get to use the rest room before they transport you to where the rafts take off near the dam. There is one rest room in a building, flush toilet. NOT one men's and one women's. Only 1. If there is a line there then there are 6 outhouses. They are at least clean.
So they then bus you to where the rafts take off, and it includes a lunch. My lunch was a small cooler bag with a water, a small wrap, a package of 2 mother's cookies, and an apple. It was enough. But those that asked for a salad, they got a salad. Without a fork!
So what I pictured was a leisurly drift down the river, looking at the wildlife, the mountain sides, the water. What we got was a lady that talked way too much. She doesn't have a microphone (our boat was full holding about 50) and everytime she wanted to say something - which was a LOT- she would cut the engine and talk. And talk. And talk. Oh everyone was thinking, "please shut up!". Anyways, the rafts are NOT very comfortable. Ours was a 3 hour trip and at 2 hours a bunch of us were saying to each other that our butts were hurting much too bad, our backs were hurting. And some were asking if there was going to be a test at the end because the female guide kept going on about "this beach is called, this beach is called, this line was from the 30's, etc... So if you are looking for an enjoyable time, this isn't it. If you are looking for a ride that seems it will never end and you can't believe you have quite a ways to go. this is it. ugh.
If they cut it down to an hour and a half, which means she doesn't stop the raft every 100 feet, and if she would not talk but maybe 35% as much then yes, I would like to do it again.

We are disappointed you did not enjoy your tour. We did hear from your group leader, " We had a great time, and look forward to doing this trip again next year." Unfortunately the forks for the salads were left off, our apologies for that. First time, that I am aware of, that we forgot those! Again apologies for this error. Your tour guide is probably our most experienced and highest rated guide per our reviews and community. Not everyone enjoys our "fully narrated" tour, so we understand your views but, "please shut up" and "ugh" are kind of rude to say about someone highly reviewed and known for her expertise on this tour. We do acknowledge that you are entitled to submit your views though. Oh, and we do have a few more "in a building, flush toilet" restrooms you must not have been aware of. We do add the port a potties during busy season so the guests don't have to wait as long. We do thank you for taking your time to submit your review.

3 hour pontoon cruise down the COLORADO river below the Hoover Dam
Apr 2018 • Couples
Incredible river cruise through the Black Canyon starting just below Hoover Dam. It takes about three hours with the skipper narrating about the river, the dam and sites along the river.

First, you enter the pontoon just below the dam. Only dam employees and this river company have access to this entrance. You can view the dam just below it. No one else can see it from this perspective,.

It is an easy going ride. Might get you feet wet if you go ashore. They provide a lunch and water. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the construction of the dam and the highlights on the river.

I highly recommend that you take this tour, then visit the dam.

Great Half Day Adventure!
Apr 2017 • Family
We took our teens on the "Postcard Tour" for their first view of the dam and bridge. A short drive from the Vegas Strip to the pickup point where we were met by a friendly driver/tour guide who transported us to the riverfront while providing interesting commentary. We were lucky enough to see a pair of big horn sheep on the road down to the boat! We boarded the boat and enjoyed an informative tour as well as a unique perspective of the structures and the landscape. We were the only boat in the water. We spent a half hour or so on the river, plenty of time to get great photos and see features of the dam that are not accessible from anywhere else.

There was plenty of time to have lunch in the lodge afterwards, which we highly recommend. The food in the cafe was great and spending the hour there allowed us to wait out the traffic that had mounted along drive back to the security checkpoint for the dam/bridge. The traffic looked to be more than a half hour, but we missed it and cruised down in about 5 minutes.
