About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Y7891VQrafaelf0 contributionsAmazing kayaking experience! It’s a must do!! Fantastic experience .. better than expected. Be ready for a little bid of a workout. Unique access and view of the Hoover Damm, kayaking through the black canyon was just amazing.. soaking in the hot springs was the best for December weather.. the staff was super cool, Holmes our tour guide made the experience even better, and antonio who picked us up from the Vegas strip hotel gave us a lot of cool touristic information,Written December 10, 2024
- Traveler5827580 contributionsBeautiful tour of Lake MeadThis was a stellar kayaking tour. Our guide was Holmes, and he was very patient with those of us (like me!) who had minimal kayaking skills. He also provided very interesting and detailed commentary on the surrounding wildlife and topography. He was even kind enough to take our photos as we were exiting Emerald Cove and send them to us. I would definitely book another tour with Desert Adventures the next time I visit Las Vegas.Written November 13, 2024
- mauinoel0 contributionsBeautiful day out on the waterHad an awesome time with Holmes. Always nice to get off the Strip. Hubs was reminded last minute about the Lake Mead area by social media (it's like our phones are listening! LOL) and we were pleasantly surprised to find that we were able to book just a couple of days ahead of time. We practically had a private tour -- just one other gal. Even though I managed to fall and scrape myself up before even getting into the kayak, we had a great day. Part of me wished that we were there a little later to try to see the Emerald Cove when it's more lit up, and the other part of me was happy that we didn't have to wait in line. There's plenty of glimmering green along the edges of the river and I think Holmes was right that the little cave might get the online attention, but there's a lot more to see. I might have to do some more arm workouts to do the full-day trip from the Dam, but it sounds fun and I was impressed by how prepared our guide was -- with snacks, first aid, and a sat phone -- I can only imagine the gear they bring on a multi-day adventure. And, he gave us a great rec to stop in Boulder City to see the big horn sheep that just cruise at the park and have lunch at Cornish Pasty.Written October 23, 2024
- D7983ESwayneb0 contributionsAnother great Black Canyon kayakI organize a work and friends DIY kayak Black Vanyon trip from the Dam to Willie Beach every fall. I ALWAYS choose Desert Adventures. Their drivers and guides are top notch: safety minded, knowledgeable, and always pleasant. We will be back next year.Written October 1, 2024
- dustinr8720 contributionsGreat Solo TripI had an incredible experience with the Desert Adventures crew on my recent kayaking trip. I put in solo at the Hoover Dam and kayaked down to Willow Springs. Even though it was a solo trip, I felt like I was semi-supported the entire way. The team was fantastic, and I want to give a special shout-out to Neil and the other crew members for their awesome lift and support. Thank you so much for making my adventure so memorable.Written August 12, 2024
- tonybU2623NF0 contributionsThe beauty of this place is breath takingVery well organised and spent a full day Kayaking, hiking to hot springs, and swimming. Guide and support team were great and always felt safe in their hands. The trip I was on was slightly different from the one listed. I stayed at Best Western in Boulder City, started the kayaking from the bottom of Hoover Dam and ended at Willow Beach. The scenary was beautiful, we paddled at a slow pace and so could enjoy the views. It was a very hot day and so hats were a must. The dips in the are a great way to cool off and so don't be put off by how cold they say the water is. If you are from the UK then you have likely swam in colder. Overall, the highlight of my holiday.Written July 25, 2024
- tedbW343DZ0 contributionsGo rent an inflatable!!We went the cheap route and rented an inflatable Kayak from DESERT ADVENTURES IN BOULDER CITY. saving us $150. It easily fit in our rental car and included everything we needed. We kayaked to emerald cave after the busy hours of the mid day rush. It was amazing to have the freedom and time to relax on the trip. If you are experienced paddler- go this route! The worst part of the trip was trying to paddle tandem with my spouse. ;). We even brought the kayak back the next day for minimal cost. This rental Saved us a ton of money and the swimming in the small cove was so awesome. 110 degrees outside and 65 degree water. - jessicamS5889BR0 contributionsFun in the Sun - Highly ReccomendedThis kayak tour by Desert Adventures was by far one of the highlights of my trips to Nevada and Arizona. I had Neil as our tour guide and kayak connoisseur and he was an absolute pleasure to have spent the day with! We set off in a small group of 5 people and had many stops along the days long adventure. Neil was a great guide and shared invaluable information as we went along. Despite it being a very hot day, we made the best of the experience and truly made memories together as a group. I’m very grateful for this opportunity and highly reccomend this tour! Shout outs also go out to the Desert Adventures Drivers and Staff who made this experience enjoyable!Written June 11, 2024
- danl3590 contributionsEmerald Cove Kayak Trip: Scenic Paddling with Expert GuidanceMy May 28, 2024, kayak adventure to Emerald Cove was a birthday treat to myself. It was a pleasant experience. Neil, our guide, was a fine conversationalist and shared some trivia about Las Vegas and Lake Mead that was both entertaining and informative. The scenery was beautiful and the several groups of bighorn sheep were a pleasant surprise. Neil also made sure that all safety measures were followed, which made me feel secure throughout the trip. The kayaks were well-maintained, and the pace of the tour was just right—not too fast but engaging enough to keep the adventure exciting. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for a unique way to explore the beauty of Nevada's natural landscapes. It was the perfect way to celebrate my birthday, offering both relaxation and a touch of adventure. Neil’s expertise and the breathtaking views made this an unforgettable journey.Written May 30, 2024
- Curious426395928740 contributionsGreat river paddle! This 12-mile paddle on the Colorado River was spectacular. As an ocean person, I had no idea how interesting a river excursion could be -- hot springs, beaches, caves. Patrick was an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide!Written May 26, 2024
- X7942AWheathers0 contributionsDon't overpromiseWe should have been given a refund and not gone on the trip. The guide told us he knew we would have severe head winds making paddling nearly impossible. We didn't do the promised hikes to waterfalls and hot springs. Other companies didn't take people out kayaking today due to the winds, that's why Emerald cave was empty, unlike other days with better weather when it had a long line of kayakers waiting to get in. Our guide could not control the weather but the company could have been much more ethical and behaved in a way that was more honest and showed they cared about safety and the guest experience. Even the option for rebooking on another date would have been better.Written May 24, 2024
- aakari0 contributionsGreat experience with kayak rental at Willow beachWe rented kayaks to go to Emerald cove, AZ. It was a great experience. Clear communications, smooth process. Desert adventures had the same price as other companies for tandem kayak rentals but the timing was more convenient for us: 10.30 am-2.30 pm. Other places offered 8-9am pick up. It's nice to go later because the Emerald colors appear in the cove only after 1pm. It takes about 1 h to come back, so you can be there until 1.30pm and get nice views.Written April 13, 2024

His deep knowledge of the desert landscape, coupled with his passion for adventure, made for an unforgettable experience. From navigating the Colorado River to uncovering hidden gems, Holmes ensured every moment was filled with excitement and wonder. His attention to detail and commitment to safety truly set him apart. Highly recommend embarking on a desert adventure with Holmes at the helm!Written March 17, 2024
- RedSandMan990 contributionsJust rightWe had an awesome experience. Adam was our guide/shuttle driver and it was everything we had hoped for. So scenic, and peaceful. The hot springs all the way through were a treat. On our way out we saw some Desert Big Horn Sheep next to the water. Having the extra day to enjoy the canyon and paddling was just right. I've used Desert Adventures six different times, and they are always so helpful. Great staff.Written March 14, 2024

Very nice bicycle tour from Boulder city to the Hoover dam. Our great guide Sarrah gave us a lot of interesting information on the area, the dam, the environment. You need to be fit for this tour (not extremely but there are some ups and downs) and we really enjoyed the sportiness of this trip as well. We had enough time also at the dam to do a tour there. So everything was perfect. It was a very hot day but our guide made sure we had enough water and we also got a nice lunch in the end.

Luke and Flip were excellent guides. They made our ride fun. I think they were as excited as we were when we rode over the dam.
Lunch was good also. I really enjoyed eating in the park and seeing the herd of big horn sheep.

I can't believe I forgot to write our review when we returned in Oct from Vegas.....but like they say, better late than never. My husband and I totally enjoyed our day of cycling from Boulder City to Lake Mead & through the tunnels to Hoover Dam. It is a fairly easy ride with only a few hills to climb. The views of Lake Mead were awesome. Hoover Dam is a must if you have never been. Tom was amazing, helpful and informative. Everything about this company we experienced was very professional right from our pick up at hotel in Vegas. A company vehicle was waiting for us at the top of Hoover Dam to drop our bikes off. Then we walked a short distance to Hoover Dam where we enjoyed our lunch that had been waiting for us in a cooler inside the vehicle. When you think sandwiches, nothing that great BUT we have to admit the sandwiches were delicious. There was only one other person on our tour so we had a little more freedom and were able to walk to the new bridge which has amazing views of the dam. Would totally recommend this cycle excursion. One other thing. We have rented bikes on many vacations and these are the best bikes we've rented. They were newer bikes and kept in very good condition.

Had a fantastic easy bike ride to the Hoover dam, only a couple of very easy hills to climb with the majority all down hill, if you want an off the beaten track visit to the hoover dam this is your trip, stopped off in lots of places getting a different view. Seriously worth the money and time.

Our guide, Antonio, was like a real life ‘Sherpa’. And believe me, we needed his skill, knowledge and instinct. We chose the bike ride without ever considering the potential extreme temperatures. We set out at 8:30am on well-equipped bikes. The ride is mostly downhill and flat but there is one incline that will get your attention. I walked it as I needed to ‘pace myself’ with energy exertion. The ride meanders over all kinds of different surfaces, none of which were difficult to negotiate. There are varying gorgeous views of the mountains and Lake Meade from high above. The tunnels we road through were impressive and full of history. Our guide was impressively informative. We learned a lot about the history of Boulder and the process of building the dam. We took plenty of water breaks and we had plenty of extra water thanks to Antonio. On a side note, we arrived at desert adventures with a flat tire on our rental car. I decided not to worry about until after the outing. When we returned to Desert Adventures in the shuttle van, IT WAS FIXED!!!!! Customer service you ask? Outstanding!! Antonio had arranged for it to be fixed for us. When I say he was a good guy, he took GREAT CARE OF US! We enjoyed the ride very much. Next time we might choose spring time instead of summer but, ah what the heck, it made for a better adventure. Oh, and the dam, well that kind of speaks for itself but having a PRIVATE GUIDE TO NARRATE YOUR TOUR AFTER A 15 MILE BIKE RIDE, PRICELESS. The lunch is the real deal. Very delicious sandwiches with a fruit, veggie with dip, and a huge cookie for dessert. No complaints whatsoever. There you have it. We would definitely recommend this adventure as our family of four (57, 52, 17 and 16) enjoyed it very much. Thank you Antonio and Dessert Adventures.

Hi there,
Wowza! What an adventurous day you had with Antonio! Thank you for the amazingly kind words. What can we say, we love our guests and want you all to have a great time. We will share the love with Antonio and Joe, our warehouse manager that changed your tire for you. Both are truly good guys and we are proud to have them on our staff.

At the end of April, myself and my wife went on the mountain bike tour of Lake Mead & Hoover Dam.
Day started off with our tour guide for the day, David, collecting us from our strip hotel and bringing us out to start our tour in Boulder City, about a 35 min drive from the Strip.
We loved the quick little tour of Boulder City, with David providing some really interesting facts about the history of the area, streets and buildings. From there we arrived at the shop, and after a quick stop, left again to travel just 5 minutes up to our starting point. What followed was hours of amazing views, experiences. Majority of the trip is downhill, with some fast sections for those who want a bit of a thrill. Plenty of water and snacks were also provided. We spent time in the Lake Mead visitors centre before heading up the old trail, taking us through tunnels with crazy beautiful views of Lake Mead. Along the whole trip, David was amazing, his knowledge of the area and of the flora, fauna and history of the area is brilliant. By the end of the day, David was more like a friend than a tour guide. So easy to get on with, we didn’t want the day to end! Would thoroughly recommend this trip and recommend David as a guide. Was amazing to see the area by mountain bike, and even better to be shown around by David. Paul and Michelle, Ireland!
