- 1Matanuska GlacierStop: 2 hours At 27 miles long and 4 miles wide it is Alaska's largest glacier accessible by road.  It also is boasts one of the most accessible areas to walk on of any glacier in Alaska.  Marvel at ice that formed 10,000 years ago high in the Chugach Mountains. Your day will start with a magnificent scenic drive along the Glenn Highway with stunning mountain vistas and plenty of time for photo stops. Next we will drive to the toe of the glacier to dawn our ice cleats and helmets to and begin exploring the glacier by foot. Each day is unique due to the dynamic nature of the glacier. We generally spend two hours and walk three miles on the ice. Finally, we will stop for lunch at a local eatery with stunning views of the glacier. This is a once in a lifetime bucket list opportunity to explore glacial ice!Read more

- Inspiration63851000Waste of time and moneyWaste of money and time. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly, but the tour was nothing to write home about. Don’t waste your time and money and maybe just rent a car and drive around instead.
- Jet72621600SIMPLY THE BEST!My group of 12 had an evening departure from Anchorage and we were looking for something to do to pass the time so I booked a private tour with GREATLAND ADVENTURES. Wow, did we hit the jackpot with Jonathan! He was amazing, so knowledgeable, personable and wanted to make sure the tour included our interests. We left Anchorage with a great experience and a newfound admiration for the town. Thank you Jonathan for making our final memory in Alaska the BEST! I highly recommend GREATLAND Adventures and I hope you get Jonathan for your tour!
- annmU5269II00Great Tour of AnchorageFantastic Tour of Anchorage - our tour guide, Matt, was excellent! He catered to our group - answered all of our silly questions. We were able to spend more time at the places that we wanted to explore. We were a group of six of different ages and mobility abilities and this tour was perfect. I HIGHLY recommend this tour for a family or friends group
- Jessg828100Tour of AnchorageExcellent way to learn more about Anchorage! Our tour guide was very pleasant and a wealth of knowledge. She focused on the things we were interested in and showed us this beautiful city that we didn’t know existed from only being at our downtown hotel. Highly recommend!
- Chris P00Great way to see Alaska to Seward. We were picked up at 9:00am by our driver Bill. He had a big van/bus and it was just us. Bill was friendly and knowledgeable. An Ohio transplant that’s been in Alaska 28 years. His love of the state and the job shined through. We drove through various areas of Anchorage and made several stops for pictures. We made our way to the Alyeska Ski resort and rode the Tram to the top. It was great. We had lunch up there and then we were on the road again. We stopped at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center and saw our first Moose! Several bears and other native wildlife. It was an enjoyable stop. The Seward highway is gorgeous. All along the water with endless mountains and several glaciers. We took a quick drive through the two downtown areas of Seward before being dropped off at our hotel.
- Panebianco300Cruise Transfer AnchorageLet me just say we are glad we did the cruise transfer outside ship. Jacob was awwwwweeeesssssooommmmee ! He picked us up at terminal and took us to spots not many people visiting get to see. It was great he also was from Florida and was very open to go off grid. We had a great time and Jacob was so knowledgeable about Alaska in general and a plethora of information about Anchorage. So if you decide to visit Anchorage definitely forgo the cruise ship excursion and use Greatland Adventures.
- Bryan P00Great Adventure thanks to MattThree generations and Matt made it great for each one ! Made sure we were all comfortable with the program and adjusted so that all people enjoyed it !
- kmwalker3300No end to what you can see with the right guide.Bill was outstanding as a guide. Knowledgeable and informative, but never superior or insulting, he seemed excited to share this amazing part of the world with us. We sent many places with Bill, starting in Anchorage, then to Alyeska, Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, Seward, Talkeetna, Denali and even glacier hiking. Those places would have been great with an average guide; they were amazing with Bill. I would recommend him for any size group, any age group. We ranged from 10 to 86 years old and he made everybody feel great to be there. Patient with our questions, always on-time. Can't say enough good about our experience. We hope to return and if we do, he'll be the first call we make.
- Ann D00Anchorage Tour A+Our tour with Dawn was amazing - she was warm, funny, and best of all, knowledgeable of all thinks Anchorage and Alaska. She picked us up promptly at the cruise ship shuttle drop-off and made sure that everyone could hear and was comfortable before starting. Thank you for making our time in Anchorage memorable!
- Passport4566464339700Anchorage SightseeingOur private driver was so nice and knowledgeable. He grew up in Anchorage and knew not only the city but also the history of the area. So enjoyable and time went so quickly.
- jessbecause80800Bucket lis worthyI didn't think glacier hiking was on my bucket list until I went on this adventure. Highly recommend since this glacier if very accessible by road. It was cold (-2 degrees F) but with the hiking, the body does warm up... eventually. There was a small crevasse that I was not about to squeeze through so that was the one thing I didn't do on the tour. Otherwise, just to see up close and personal the different shapes and patterns of ice was incredible. A little pricey but it does come with transport and lunch.
- adrien88202300Wow!Where to begin? Bill is an incredibly, knowledgeable and engaging guide that loves to share his passion for everything Alaska has to offer. Our tour was overflowing with interesting facts about the rich history of Anchorage and the surrounding areas. The entire tour is phenomenal, but a few highlights include Earthquake Park, Seaplane Base, Beluga Point. By far my family's favorite stop was at Chugach State Park -The view was absolutely breathtaking (photos don't do this place justice)!! Alaska has a story that needs to be told and Bill takes that challenge head on! If you're looking for an experience to share with your family, and create memories for a lifetime, this tour is a must!! Thank you again, Bill!!!
- P3815VIdanas00Greatland Adventures Northern Lights Tour was GREAT!We had an amazing night hunting the Northern Lights with Greatland Adventures in Fairbanks. Kevin, our guide, was the absolute BEST! He contacted us beforehand asking if we had any questions and then went out of his way to make sure each one was answered. What made the outing even more fun was his enthusiasm. His excitement to see the lights raised everyone else's. When we arrived at the cabin Kevin made sure everyone was comfortable. His attentiveness never faded, either. On top of making sure everyone had what they needed he took amazing pictures -- of the lights and groups - multiple times throughout the night. Going beyond what was usually offered, he even recorded and sent a GoPro time lapse video to us. Sensitive to the group's needs he didn't rush anyone and gave ample time to wrap things up. Thankfully, we had an amazing night and didn't need to drive far but if we had Kevin would've make the trip worth it. Even at 2:30am he stopped on the way back and gave us one more chance to capture the amazing lights. Booking with Greatland was easy, affordable, and worth it. They had great customer service before we even booked - returning my calls and sending details on tour options - and that service lasted even after we returned. Thank you Greatland and Kevin for such an AMAZING trip!
- Dan W00Greatland was incredibleWe went in two tours. Both were incredible. Highly recommend booking one of you're coming to Alaska. We will be coming back for sure.
- t0mmy0700Aurora borealis tourLife changing experience. I am thankful a was able to see the lights and Jacob did a great job at teaching us how it works and making us feel at home

Our Matanuska Glacier Hike was fun. It was a long drive, but it was well worth the trip. We hiked around the glacier and got some great pictures learning about what it felt like to hike on ice. Our guide, Matt was a nice young man , but was not as forthcoming with information about the history and geography as we had hoped. In fact, much of what he talked about was his friends and his band in which he plays guitar. Either way, it was worth the trip and Greatland Adventures was easy to work with. We have always tried to work directly with the actual Tour Operator instead of an intermediate booking agency, simply to have a direct connection to those that have the actual experience with a trip. Dillion and Stephen were particularly helpful in answering questions we had before the trip. We would recommend this trip as well as Greatland Adventures to friends.

Hello Dale,
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave some feedback for us! It sounds like you had a great day overall, which is our goal! In addition to passing along all the kind words, I will definitely have a content review with our glacier team. It's always nice to have a refresher with everyone once in a while.
As a small "family" run operation we greatly appreciate your direct booking business! It's always a better experience for guests and operators to have a direct connection.
Thanks again, and we hope to adventure with you in the future!

We did an amazing hike on the Matanuska Glacier with Greatland. The transport, hiking, and guides Matt and Bill were fabulous. They did such a good job of tailoring it to our diverse little group. The were funny, knowledgeable, patient, and knew all the right spots to take the best photos. I would recommend Greatland to any visitors to Anchorage. A must do!

The hike on the glacier was awesome. Sean was such a good guide making sure we saw all the best sites and stayed safe. We were a party of four and all agreed this was the best tour we did while in Alaska. The total party was 6 so the small number made the tour so much more enjoyable. I would highly recommend.

My group had a great time with our tour guide Phil. He is very knowledgable and very flexible. He gave us plenty of time to enjoy the glacier. He went above and beyond our expectations to make us feel comfortable. You will definitely be in good hands if you have Phil as your tour guide.

This was a great experience! It's crazy to actually be able to walk and climb on a glacier!
Our guide, Matt, picked us up at our hotel and drove us out to the glacier. We were very lucky to have him to ourselves! He was extremely knowledgeable and we really enjoyed spending the day with him. He picked us up at 8 am and we returned at around 4.

We had fun and learned a lot about Alaska trees and glaciers on our way to Matanuska. Steve Jack and Christian were professional and fun and safe. We really appreciated their humor and energy and knowledge on this tour. We got some great pictures and laughed a lot! Amazing experience!

My family and I did this tour with Matt, who was an amazing guide! He was very prompt for hotel pickup, and he stopped for bathroom breaks and picture opportunities on the way to the glacier. He was knowledgeable about many things to narrate the entire day, and he took nice photos for us too once we arrived. He also was able to adapt the tour based on our party’s different physical capabilities while on the glacier, which we appreciated. We loved not having to worry about transportation, and there were the nice touches of having water and snacks available to us too. Lunch was delicious — I imagined it would be a boxed lunch but we sat down at a local eatery in Palmer. Highly recommend this tour! If I return to Alaska again, I would definitely book another tour with Greatland Adventures!

This is an amazing experience! Our tour guide, Bill, was knowledgeable, kind, courteous, and helpful. We were so lucky to have a private tour on a sunny day. It reminded me of spring skiing day. It was nice to have lunch with a view and yummy pie.

Everything was great, starting with the scenic drive, then the glacier hike and lunch. We even saw mama moose with a baby from the restaurant after the hike.
Highly recommend the company! As someone who has never been to Alaska before I felt taken care of and well guided from the minute I booked the tour. They answered all my texts and calls, of which there were plenty.
