Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- U7925EPjenb0 contributionsAwesome snowy Christmas experience! The whole tour was awesome. Our guide Karen had so much local knowledge and took the time to allow us to stop and see the snow - a novelty for us Aussies. Leavenworth was everything we hoped with snow on the ground and everything. Thankyou Karen for being such an awesome guide and the gluten free snacks were very appreciated and delicious!! As was the hot coffee and tea on the hike!!!Written December 3, 2024
- daveaP5936VJ0 contributionsAwesome Guided Trip to Mt RainierWe took the day trip to Mt Rainier with Karen and it was awesome! Karen is so knowledgeable and made the trip so much more enjoyable for us. Getting picked up at our hotel in the morning, having coffee, snacks and lunch for us allowed us to focus on the trip. We were so pleased how it turned out and would do it again for another trip! Thanks Karen!!Written November 21, 2024
- TexasJennieLH0 contributionsWonderful tour! Our tour guide Sammy was an absolute delight, very knowledgeable and personable. My friend and I appreciated that the tour took us to wineries that were a bit off the beaten track. Snoqualmie Falls was a beautiful destination. The food provided for lunch was delicious and healthy and there were also plentiful snacks and non-alcoholic beverages available. All in all, it was a perfect day.Written November 5, 2024
- rockthered370 contributionsExcellent tour, supremely fun!We had a fantastic time on this tour. Brent was an outstanding tour guide; we got to see some absolutely beautiful old growth forests, beautiful waterfalls and vistas, and learned a ton about the ecology of the area. It was entertaining, fun, informative, and a fantastic way to see the area. I’d do this again in a heartbeat and can strongly recommend it if you’re visiting the PNW and want to see the area in all it’s glory.Written November 4, 2024
- thomasoZ8032ZV0 contributionsIncredible Experience of Mount St. Helens!!Brent Maphis, Naturalist Guide, took our tour group on a mind blowing excursion of Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument. The trip was worth every penny as it opened my thoughts to nature and the majestic power that the 1980 volcanic eruption of Mount Saint Helens caused. Yet, the damage of the 1980 eruption was replaced by new lakes and greenery. If you are open to seeing nature in a new way, and are willing to have your perceptions of the incredible force of the Mount Saint Helens 1980 volcanic eruption enhanced a thousand fold—then this tour is for you! Wow is all I can say! Brent Maphis, Naturalist Guide, did a spectacular job gently guiding the tour group toward a new and fuller understanding of the incredible Mount Saint Helens Volcanic Monument. Way to go to Evergreen Escapes and Brent Maphis on a job well done! Bravo!Written October 30, 2024

- ash20480 contributionsSeeing the park through Kayla's eyesWe toured the park on an overcast, chilly, rainy day with Kayla as our guide, and she made it so delightful that we forgot about the weather. She made sure everyone was comfortable and could hear any narration regarding park information. She was informative and passionate about the park and was able to answer any questions posed by the group. We will definitely request her when next we visit the Seattle area (we are from the Dallas area).Written October 26, 2024

Its my second trip with het (Mount Renier was the first). Despite the rain and some snow she managed to show us all the eco systems of the park including the Pacific beach. Good lunch good spirit! This is about our Olympic National Park tour with our guide Karen. Just like our last tour we had a great time! Karen was so knowledgeable and made our day awesome! - lisakohn60 contributionsA group tour that was personalized at the same timeBook your Mt. Ranier tour with Evergreen Escapes and you will be so glad you did. Our guide, Kayla, was a knowledgeable guide and welcoming in every way. She helped our crew "click". She gave us choices for how much we wanted to hike and what attractions we wanted to see. Our lunch was delicious and made to order for dietary restrictions. At the end of the day, we were sad to see our group break up and this is all thanks to Kayla and her warm, positive energy.Written October 7, 2024
- josephbD3243MT0 contributionsAmazing day!Evan was our fabulous guide on our exploration of the rain forest and lake/ocean views of Olympic Park. Very informative with breathtaking scenery under different conditions of light and weather. Evan’s interest and curiosity about what we were seeing and experiencing made the tour memorable. Highlights were views of salmon battlingupstream against white water and the changing views of Lake Crescent as the light and weather changed. We even saw a rainbow. Evan made an extended day enjoyable and fun and the lunch and snacks were first rate. Highly recommend!Written October 6, 2024

Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. The food was insufficient and needing to be shared AND not flavorful. I was told we would have sandwiches. We had to share a very small quantity of overdone chicken and some vegetables. There were no condiments. I ate too little Bc I was good insecure ie that there would be enough for the whole group! For >250/head!!!
The website said 3 mile hike and our guide changed it last minute to a 1 mile hike- not ok! It ended up being more than that Bc our guide decided that it would be a good use of time to chase back and forth after one person who did not stick to the group. Let’s have a plan in place in advance in case this happens.
We spent little time in the gorgeous Mt Ranier Bc of wine tasting in dry unattractive area in Eastern Washington. The winemakers were lovely. My suggestion is to pick 1-2 beautiful wineries close to Mt Ranier and eliminate the long drive that put pressure on the poor guide to take nature time and exercise time away from us.
Im particular and for this price point, I expected to get at least the exercise and sandwich. I don’t like sharing food. I don’t like eating less Bc I have to be concerned that the company bought poor tasting and insufficient food. Growing up, my mother made sure there was always plentiful food when we had guests: The rule was - have 1.5x more than the amount of food you think you ll need for the number of guests. Please adhere to this for more success next time.

I just wanted to leave a review and let everyone know that Jan is the best! She was extremely attentive to all our needs and incredibly sweet, taking the time to go above and beyond with our delicious lunches, snacks, plenty of water, and desserts! Jan really does care about her people, making us feel right at home and comfortable right from the start. She is very knowledgeable as well, teaching us something new at every rest stop and at every trail. I loved our experience with her and hope that you pick her to be your guide -- you won't regret it! Thanks Jan :) <3

We had such a lovely day with our tour guide Marjorie and the other people in our group. My boyfriend and I decided to go on a last minute trip to Seattle to celebrate my birthday. With last minute planning, we were able to book the Mt. Rainier National Park day trip with Evergreen Escapes, and I'm so glad we did. Pick up was right on time from our hotel and then we made some other stops to get other members of the group. Marjorie was so friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful, and answered all of our various questions throughout the day. She let us know the plan of events for the day and was clear on how much time we had at each spot.
We had multiple stops on our trip, all manageable shorter hikes. We had breakfast by a lake, which included coffee/tea/hot chocolate with some scones and banana bread. Then we were on our way to other stops, walking through the forest and seeing waterfalls. Our lunch stop was so beautiful, with amazing vistas where we could see Mt Rainier too. Also, we loved the food - two different chicken options, tofu, pasta salad, and also a fruit salad. Then the best surprise ever, Marjorie brought out a cake (and candle!) to celebrate my birthday! I was SO surprised. It was also a delicious berry cake. We weren't able to eat it all so made friends with a party next to us to share. After lunch, we went on the final, longer hike of the day to see amazing wildflowers and of course, Mt Rainier. Marjorie let us know the amount of time we had for the hike, in case some of the group went faster or slower, you could plan accordingly and go at your own pace.
After the last hike, there was another sweet treat (yum!) and then the drive back to Seattle. I highly recommend this tour if you're looking for a smaller group and day trip from Seattle to get into nature, with delicious food/snacks/beverages all planned for you!

From beginning to end, this was a fabulous day.
We were collected by our tour guide, Owen, a very bright, smart, friendly young man who welcomed us onto the minibus at our pick up location. Two other guests were already on board, who introduced themselves and then we collected the remaining participants from nearby hotels. Pleasant conversation flowed during the journey to Mount Rainier.
During the ride, Owen gave us lots of interesting information and was very personable. At our first stop, he put together a breakfast table with hot drinks and cakes by a beautiful lake.
When we reached our destination, part way up the volcano, the view was utterly breathtaking. We all collected snacks and warm jackets and set off on a hike up the mountain, discovering wildlife as we went along. After our descent, we returned to the bus to be driven to another very attractive location for a delicious lunch. There was another guided walk through ancient woodlands, where we learned about the fascinating local fauna and flora.
We had one final stop and another short walk to see the twin firs before we set off back to Seattle. It was such a stunning location, we could have enjoyed staying in the area for weeks!
Getting so close to Mount Rainier was an absolute treat and a big highlight of our trip to the Pacific North West but what really made this day special was the great atmosphere that Owen created. He was so kind, cheerful and helpful throughout the day. He was also an excellent driver and we felt very safe having him at the wheel, especially on some of the more precipitous roads!
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this trip to anybody visiting the area.

This was hands-down the perfect tour for Mt. Rainier National Park in my opinion.
We were a small group of 8 people and our tour guide Marty created a fun, personable atmosphere. Of course it's a bit of a drive, but he provided plenty of interesting facts along the way and generally was very knowledgeable about the area, park, history and nature.
We had a breakfast stop (included!) in a little park in small town surrounded bybeautiful scenery.
Later, in the national park, Marty actually found a gorgeous spot where we could have lunch away from the crowds, just our little group. The food was delicious and an actually proper & healthy meal with a cute table setting - exceeded my expectation for sure.
Most important tho, there was actually plenty of time for a nice hike in park for breathtaking views of Mt Rainier. We were blessed with a sunny day and amazing scenery. We also got to see some waterfalls on the way back which allowed for some more small hikes. You actually get to enjoy the outdoors on this tour which was wonderful.
It was the perfect way to get to experience Mt Rainier on a day trip and I would fully recommend this tour if you're a nature lover.

Our guide, Karen, was very knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. She is an excellent driver and tour guide. She navigated the mountain roads very well and she was able to answer all of the questions that were asked. We were provided a picnic breakfast of muffins and coffee cake, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. The picnic lunch was much more than we expected and consisted of chicken, cauliflower salad, sweet potatoes, tofu, and a variety of beverages. It was my husband's 80th birthday and we were given a surprise of a chocolate birthday cake! The tour was unrushed and we were given ample time to stop and enjoy the surrounding beauty and take photographs. I highly recommend this tour. You will never regret spending the money to see such beautiful and majestic scenery!

I went on this tour with my friend in early October and we were treated to amazing weather for the experience.
We were picked up from the hotel around 07:20 by Evan who was extremely informative and friendly. We then spent the next hour going around the rest of Seattle picking up the remaining members of the group before setting off on the 1 hour 30 minute journey to Mount Rainier.
Once at Mount Rainier we did a 4 mile hike which was not too challenging but was a great way to see Mount Rainier a little closer. We were also fortunate to see both a Black Bear and Mountain Goats!
We then had a delicious lunch, followed by a trip to Silver Falls, which again was a great spot before we headed back to Seattle.
Overall, the tour is designed for those of all fitness so if you are after a long, challenging hike up Mount Rainier look elsewhere but if you are after a leisurely hike with a great guide, I would strongly recommend this trip.
Thanks again Evan!

Our naturalist guide, Sarah, did a great job of leading us safely around a variety of breathtaking vistas, from mountain overlooks to a powerful, cascading waterfall and a peaceful lake trail. This is our second trip with Evergreen Escapes, and we found the company to be well organized and attentive to group comfort on both trips. Each time, the naturalist guides were highly educated professionals who shared their knowledge enthusiastically, creating a warm, welcoming experience.

A wonderful day. We chose this tour because we had planned to do Olympic and Mt Rainier National Parks as part of a bigger trip to Seattle. While Olympic was relatively easy to navigate and plan for, Rainier proved a bit trickier. During the planning process, I learned that there would still be feet upon feet of snow on the ground at Rainier in May, which made me unsure of which areas of the park would be open and how to safely navigate the park. This tour took away all of that stress and allowed me to look forward to our time at Rainier with no worries. The 5 stars all go to our guide, Sean, who was incredible and very accommodating. As one of our party left the van at the end of the tour he commented to Sean: “you were made for this.” And I have to agree! Sean took us on ~5 hikes/walks, with one being a snowshoe hike up the mountain. He offered the group two options for snowshoeing, one flat/easier and another uphill. When my asthma was giving me some trouble up the hill my fear was that I would hold the group back needing to go slower, but Sean was encouraging and patient. He assured me that I could go at my own pace if needed, and provided the perfect amount of breaks and support for the entire group of varying skill levels to make it up the hill successfully. He is also incredibly knowledgeable and even made the long drives entertaining with ice breakers and riddles. He deserves 6 stars! Gear and plenty of delicious food were provided throughout the day, as promised. Snowshoeing for the first time was a very fun adventure! I felt very safe and confident learning this new skill with Sean as our guide. The mountain and park were beautiful.
My only negative: the van is a bit cramped for a 2+ hour car ride. I am 5’10” (though I will concede I have long legs) and my knees were uncomfortably pressed against the seat in front of me for the duration with no room for movement. Unsure if this can be improved upon given the need for a smaller van to maneuver the mountain. This is my only suggestion, as everything else was truly fantastic. I would highly recommend this adventure to all! Thank you Sean and Evergreen for a great last day in the PNW!

Hi Sarah,
Thanks for sharing your experience! We are so glad to hear our guide was able to take away all the worry to allow you to really enjoy your time in the park.
As you mentioned, the smaller van is needed to maneuver around the area, but you are welcome to switch seats during your trip. This will also help get different perspectives of the park while you're touring!
Cheers,
DJ | Evergreen Escapes

The tour was an excellent way to spend a Sunday evening in July. The 10 plus hours was not as long as one would think but the long drives to the park, the greenery that was on each side of the road, and the tour operators openness in sharing, and encouraging us to share, our stories helped opened up conversation and made us more of a social group.
The views were stunning. The snow capped magnificent mountain never seemed to leave us regardless of where we were. The hikes were good, easy with some challenge and allowed us to feel the atmosphere, and the day.
The food I have to say was delicious. It exceeded my expectations and at the end, and on way home, I was full.
I highly recommend this tour.

There were several stops where we hiked. I think the longest was 1.5 miles. There are inclines and one trail has a lot of tree roots. None were overly difficult for me as i walk daily. There were two people that had difficulty, though. They were able to enjoy the tour but chose not to walk the two more difficult trails. The guide was able to help them determine whether they should try it. Hope this helps!

We plan to take the tour around Xmas time. Will it be icey and dangerous on the mountain? I am mostly concerned with safety since I will take two teenagers…thank you in advance!

Very interested in booking the small private tour of Mt. Rainier. Not great with steep mountain descents and drop-offs especially without guard rails. I expect winding roads and switchbacks but nothing approaching hazardous or dicey. Thanks in advance for your answer.

I was really pleased with the tour I took with Evergreen Escapes. The guide was great and took us to all the hotspots. All food, snacks, liquids provided. The group was small and they pick you up and drop you off at your hotel. I was there over the July 4th holiday and it was beautiful.

Hello, we are looking to attend on March 19th. Is this considered the winter trek? If so, what all does this consist of and what kind of weather should we expect?

Hi! My daughter and I took this tour yesterday! It was unbelievable! Eric was our guide and 4 others joined us. The weather was perfect, it was a clear blue sunny day. Check the weather for the day you go. Erik was knowledgeable and entertaining. We travelled to Mt Rainer and made several restroom stops and also a stop to have coffee and some bake goods on the way. I can not say enough good things about Eric. The depth of knowledge and detail about the area that he shared was fascinating.
When we reached our destination at Mt Rainer we geared up with snow shoes and spent 2 hours on the Mountain. I didn’t want the day to end. There were people in Short sleeve shirts on the Mountain...again, check the weather and go prepared for cooler temps. You can always take off layers. The lunch was delicious (if you do not eat meat make sure you request vegetarian) if you don’t request, there was plenty of other options. The food was delicious. Eric, can you share the recipe for the rice and the chipotle sauce? :)We set up a blanket and ate picnic style , again, no wind, warm temps and clear blue sky. After lunch we made a few stops on the way back to Seattle, one stop was a short hike through a forest where Eric provided more entertaining stories and factual detailed information on the forest itself. I can’t say this enough, this day was exceptional. Request Eric if you can!!!! With all the closings due to the Virus, this is a great way to get out and enjoy nature!!! Did I say I highly recommend this???

Dear visitor
I visited Mount Rainier during summer time. It was awasome! Not sure you can make it during Winter time. Should ask the travel tour agency.

Am i going yo be really hungry if I cant eat dairy or gluten?
Written January 21, 2020
Yes you will, but I would suggest to call ahead because the tour company is very accommodating and I'm sure they would provide a safe option. You will also have plenty of space in the van to bring along plenty of safe snacks for yourself as well. Most of the in-between stop snacks contain gluten (cookies, pretzels, etc.)
