KBA overcharge 500usd for nothing in return. book directly with west air and save money!
ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMENDING KBA! BOOKED DIRECTLY WITH WEST AIR, GET SAME SERVICES AND SAVE MONEY! I booked the bear viewing tour to Clark Lake National Park through KBA (KENAI BACKCOUNTRY ADVENTURES), paying a total of $1231.6 per person, including tax. However, on the day of our tour, we were extremely disappointed to find that there was no representative from KBA present at any point. We gathered at the West Air office in Nikiski, and the entire trip was managed and led by the pilot and guide provided by West Air. KBA was a no-show; they did not provide any service or support throughout our experience. To make matters worse, we later discovered that if we had booked directly with West Air, the cost would have been only $750 per person. This means KBA charged us nearly $500 more (almost a 40% markup) for absolutely nothing in return. Their lack of service and transparency is unacceptable, and I feel compelled to warn others about this poor value proposition. I would not recommend KBA to anyone looking for a reliable and cost-effective way to experience the beauty of Clark Lake National Park's wildlife. Save your money and book directly with the service providers.

        Phenomenal Experience!
5 STAR! This was by far the best thing we did in Alaska! Our guide Adriana picked us up from the cruise terminal (w/ luggage) as we disembarked from our final day of the cruise and stored it for us during the tour. Following necessary gear & education we were taken by van to the Kenai Fjords National Park where we proceeded to hike straight up for the next 3-4 hours with breaks for rest, water and of course photos!!! You must bring the raingear for the glacier. We had to take an additional suitcase but was worth it. Once we got the the glacier (loved the crampons!) the views were phenomenal and besides having lunch on the glacier (because we could sit with raingear) the water from it was an exciting part. Only took half the time to come back down. We are ages 60 and 52 and not the best of shape but had been working on cardio before this trip and had invested in the best gear down to great hiking boots and poles are provided. It is a strenuous hike but highly recommend if you are able and given the chance to do it with Kenai Backcountry Adventures and Adriana who clearly loves the land and its history as it was worth every sore muscle after!

        Amazing experience
Amazing experience on the glacier hike. Al was our guide and really made the experience memorable and fun. It isn't an easy hike to get there but not high difficulty either. Need to be in decent shape and able to hike on with elevation gains. Highly recommend.

        Bear Viewing Trip
Went on an amazing bear viewing trip and had Al as our great guide for the day. After a quick flight over to the lake he picked us up and we were headed across the lake to the creek. We immediately saw a bear swimming across the lake en route to the creek and saw so many more when we arrived. Mother bears with cubs, bears fishing in the creek and we were right up close to see it all! Great opportunity for pictures and great memories. Al had great stories and answered all of our questions throughout the day. We cruised around the lake a little trying to find bears in other spots, but the creek was the best place to see them all day. The flight home was great too because they take you through the mountains and over the glaciers. It is a full day in a great place with beautiful scenery, incredible animals and a great crew to help you along the way.

        Definite highlight of our trip!
We were traveling with 2 teenaged boys and my 70 year old mother. Our guide Cohan felt like one of the family on our rafting tour. He was very knowledgeable about both the area and the river. We couldn’t have enjoyed this trip more. A must do in Seward.

Bear viewing trip to Lake Clark National Park
What an awesome experience our bear viewing tour at Lake Clark was. Tatum Cozza and Brandon LeBaron definitely set the standard for wildlife guides and exceeded my expectations. Tatum picked our group up from Seward, and we drove to Kenai. From there, we boarded a plane and flew to Lake Clark. We saw six Grizzly Bears, two Black Bears, and two Moose. Two of the Grizzlies were close to our group, but the others could only be seen with binoculars. It rained most of the day, but we could still see. The only thing that could be improved would be the lunch. I would have liked to have had a higher quality lunch considering the money we spent. Everything else was great, and I recommend this trip to anyone wanting to see wildlife in its natural habitat. B. Mooney Georgia

Epic once in a lifetime experience!
We did the Lake Clark Bear Viewing expedition on my husband's birthday. Our guide Brandon made this the most amazing experience. Ben, our bush pilot was awesome too. The entire experience was first class. Brandon was professional, calm and we could tell he had a passion for the environment and the bears. We felt very safe trekking with him. Lunch in the meadow was wonderful! Hiking through this pristine environment was EPIC! We got our pictures and we were blown away with the quality. We have memories of a liftetime. BUY THE PHOTO PACKAGE!!! Thank you so much for this once in a lifetime experience.

Hilarious guide Cohan expertly navigated the river
Fun river trip with hilarious guide Cohan!! Spectacular views of Exit Glacier and surrounding mountains. Saw several eagles, even an up close eagles nest. Cohan expertly navigated the braided river, lots of wood in the river but we didn't even touch any!

Seward is a must for an Alaskan trop
We rafted on the Resurrection River, hiked up to and on the Exit Glacier and took a whaling / Glacier boat tour and stayed at Windsong Lodges. A totally great experience. Dining was not great, however, Reds for burgers was great. All in all, we’d go back and recommend Seward.

Hiking to and on the Exit Glacier… take this exit.
If you are in decent shape, I would highly recommend this adventure. It will test you, but the views were incredible. The staff was amazing and knowledgeable. Well worth it.

        such a fun experience!!!
This was so much fun!! I would definitely do it again. It was so cool seeing exit glacier and taking a sweet ride through the Kenai. I would definitely recommend doing 4 hours because the 2 hour tour went by so fast! I wish I could’ve gotten pictures at the Kenai sign, so I’m not sure if that’s something you should ask about before you go to make sure you visit it. But I had a lot of fun. I’d never snowmobiled before and the tour guide taught us well & we were in great hands!

One of my favorite activity during my visit to Alaska
We had so much fun in our adventure, a little bit of physical activity, and we even got to see a moose in the wild! Brandon was amazing, he made the tour an unforgettable experience. Funny and entertaining, very patient when we wanted to take 1000 pictures for our memories.

        Must do experience!
We had a great time going snowmobiling, we got to see the Exit Glacier, and went through some beautiful trails. We didn't have time to do the 4 hrs but the 2 hrs trip was a great experience, next time we will come again and do the 4 hour tour.

        Fun experience
Loved my snow mobiling experience! I was in two minds about it, mainly because i was scared, but the intructor/guide really put me at ease. I actually had tons of fun and would highly recommend it to anyone, even someone who's not into winter sports and has never done it before.

We booked the Seward Wilderness Hike (4 hours) and were lucky to get a "private" tour as there were no other participants. So our guide Miles decided to hike with us through the snowy mountains of Seward, adapted to our fitness level. Together we explored new places and at some of them we were sure that we were the first ones there this year :-) Once at the top, there is a beautiful view of the higher mountains behind with a breathtaking view of mountains, valleys and Resurrection Bay. The way long Miles told us many interesting things about the flora and fauna. It was an interesting and fun adventure and worth every minute. Thank you so much for this, Miles!

My husband and I had a great time on the 4 hour Wilderness Hike! Our guide, Ashley, was very knowledgeable and passionate about nature and we really enjoyed getting to hike up into Mount Marathon! We would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to explore more of Seward's hiking trail with a guide who can really enhance the experience! We will definitely check out Kenai Backcountry Adventures again for more experiences the next time we are in Seward!

Sadly we had to cancel this trip due to the fact my husband was sick, it was 43 degrees and supposed to rain. Regardless, I’ve given this trip a 5 star rating due to the ease and expediency of the cancellation and refund policy. While the agent told me it would be 3-5 days to see the refund, it was there within 24 hours. I greatly appreciate this kind of service and was sorry we had to cancel.

In bear territory, I get hesitant to walk on my own when I don’t know the trail points. The guide chose a trail walk along the rocky shoreline of Resurrection Bay that can only be done at low tide. The view is spectacular though the small rock walking both ways can be a bit rough on the knees. We entered through a wooded area but spent the majority of the time on the beach. Jonathan, our very personable guide, did show us a waterfall just off the coast. He provided a great lunch. We saw many people doing this walk as it was a beautiful weekend day in Seward. We may have been able to do this on our own but not knowing the area well, it was great to have a guide to lead us especially as it was sadly our last day in Alaska. We were assured of not getting lost and missing our flight!

I booked a 4 hour Seaward Wilderness Hike Tour (Moderate to Strenuous) with Kenai Backcountry Adventures. I did a lot of excursions in Alaska, and I must say that this hike was the highlight of my entire Alaska trip.

Brandon, my tour guide, took me to Mt. Marathon and made it an unforgettable experience. I didn't anticipate the hike to be this hard with a lot of snow and steep elevation. After 2 hours, I was about to give up but Brandon was so patient with my slow pace and continued to motivate the group to hit the bowl for spectacular views. He is also a great photographer (gave me a couple of cool photography tips) and took amazing pics and videos.
Safety was never compromised. Throughout the hike, Brandon ensured we are safe and he provided a lot of information about Alaska Wildlife, plants, Seaward town and other things to do in the region. I must say that he has a great sense of humor and knows all the secret trails that are way more fun and less crowded to hike. Downhill, I loved his idea of sliding over snow. Has never experienced before and absolutely enjoyed the experience.

I learned about ice climbing that Kenai Backcountry Adventures offers in Winter and Summer season. I am definitely looking forward to experience this excursion with them.

Miles have us a workout as he took us to the source of a water fall on Mt. Marathon. He took us less traveled trails as he pointed out various things (good & bad plants, moose & porcupine markings, moose tracks, what food squirrels eat & how to tell where their territory is, etc.) on the way up & down.
We would stop periodically to view Resurrection Bay.

BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! While planning my trip to Alaska I called Kenai Backcountry Adventures where I met our instructor Kyle. From the very first day Kyle was super nice and helpful. He took the time to understand very well what type of adventure and experience I wanted to get from my visit to Alaska. Besides planning a unique excursion for me and my fiancé he also gave me so many recommendations of other things I should do to make my Alaska experience even more memorable. He even gave us his phone number so we could reach him if we had any questions or wanted more recommendations. This type of customer service you don't find often. Best people ever. I loved my visit to Alaska and I can't wait to go back and experience Alaska in the Summer. 100% worth it!

I went on a one day hiking tour of the Seward coast with Kyle and Isaac. I was looking over my schedule and noticed that I had an entire day of unplanned activities, so I contacted Kenai back country adventures with not very much advance notice. They got back to me very quickly and said they could accommodate me for a hiking adventure! Communication with them was easy. I expressed an interest in wanting to see wildlife and they made sure to be very attentive to such opportunities. We hiked along the coast and saw whales, otters, bald eagles, and sea lions. They took me to many locations that locals did not even know about and it was a very enjoyable day. I also really appreciate their patience with me as I was slow going in some tricky areas of hiking. They were very reassuring and supportive! When I bring my husband back to Alaska I am definitely booking them for a multi-day adventure! Thank you so much for the fun day!
