We booked the Seward Wilderness Hike (4 hours) and were lucky to get a "private" tour as there were no other participants. So our guide Miles decided to hike with us through the snowy mountains of Seward, adapted to our fitness level. Together we explored new places and at some of them we were sure that we were the first ones there this year :-) Once at the top, there is a beautiful view of the higher mountains behind with a breathtaking view of mountains, valleys and Resurrection Bay. The way long Miles told us many interesting things about the flora and fauna. It was an interesting and fun adventure and worth every minute. Thank you so much for this, Miles!

In bear territory, I get hesitant to walk on my own when I don’t know the trail points. The guide chose a trail walk along the rocky shoreline of Resurrection Bay that can only be done at low tide. The view is spectacular though the small rock walking both ways can be a bit rough on the knees. We entered through a wooded area but spent the majority of the time on the beach. Jonathan, our very personable guide, did show us a waterfall just off the coast. He provided a great lunch. We saw many people doing this walk as it was a beautiful weekend day in Seward. We may have been able to do this on our own but not knowing the area well, it was great to have a guide to lead us especially as it was sadly our last day in Alaska. We were assured of not getting lost and missing our flight!

BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! While planning my trip to Alaska I called Kenai Backcountry Adventures where I met our instructor Kyle. From the very first day Kyle was super nice and helpful. He took the time to understand very well what type of adventure and experience I wanted to get from my visit to Alaska. Besides planning a unique excursion for me and my fiancé he also gave me so many recommendations of other things I should do to make my Alaska experience even more memorable. He even gave us his phone number so we could reach him if we had any questions or wanted more recommendations. This type of customer service you don't find often. Best people ever. I loved my visit to Alaska and I can't wait to go back and experience Alaska in the Summer. 100% worth it!

I went on a one day hiking tour of the Seward coast with Kyle and Isaac. I was looking over my schedule and noticed that I had an entire day of unplanned activities, so I contacted Kenai back country adventures with not very much advance notice. They got back to me very quickly and said they could accommodate me for a hiking adventure! Communication with them was easy. I expressed an interest in wanting to see wildlife and they made sure to be very attentive to such opportunities. We hiked along the coast and saw whales, otters, bald eagles, and sea lions. They took me to many locations that locals did not even know about and it was a very enjoyable day. I also really appreciate their patience with me as I was slow going in some tricky areas of hiking. They were very reassuring and supportive! When I bring my husband back to Alaska I am definitely booking them for a multi-day adventure! Thank you so much for the fun day!

This company arranged a nice hiking outing for us. The guide (Todd) showed up on time and met us right at the cruise terminal. He was very knowledgeable, had a route picked out for our skill level, and was fun to hike with. If you are looking for an alternative to a cruise shore excursion, look into what they have to offer.

On August 8th my husband and I went on the Seward Wilderness hike with Isaac. It was a great hike and wonderful day. Isaac was very knowledgeable about the local envirnment including plant life and animals. The hike included both forest and beach. The lunch that was provided was good and took into account my specific dietary need of avoiding lactose. We espcially appreciated Isaac, our guide. who was pleasant, competent and very concerned that we enjoy the day.

We arrived by ship and the available shore excursions were either boring or overpriced. Instead, we booked a hike through Kenai Backcountry and had a great time. Our guide met us at the ship and we went for a hike at the Exit Glacier. Our guide was prompt, informative, and very nice. It was nice to be able to get out and stretch our legs.
This was a much better option than being herded around in a typical ship shore excursion.

Mom and I went on a day hike up the mountain overlooking Seward, took all day but the views were well worth it! We got plenty of great photos and got to see all the different terrain types going up. It was a difficult hike but not bad compared with the half marathon we had recently run. Nice lunch at the top. Cut a little cross country on the way down, we didn't have to but Todd was very helpful, taking the risk himself to help us. There's an awful lot of backcountry and beautiful space up there to see!

My mom and I visited Seward last week. We knew we wanted to take a wilderness hike but didn't know when. We wanted to wait until we arrived to see weather and find out the plans of the other travelers we were with. With that being said, at the last minute we contacted Kenai Backcountry Adventures to see the availability. They were great! They got us in the same day and gave us a custom experience, it was just my mom and I. Kyle picked us up where we were staying, which was awesome. During the hike Kyle went at our pace and gave us a choice on where we wanted to go. He was very knowledgeable about the area where we were hiking and even talked about recipes for the salmon and halibut that we were fishing for the next day. My mom and I were both very impressed with the friendly, professional service we received. We highly recommend.

We had an awesome time on our Seward Wilderness Hike with Ashley! She was super friendly and knowledgeable, and made sure we got the most out of our time. We were disappointed that our Exit Glacier adventure wasn’t able to happen because the road to the trail hadn’t opened up yet, but switching to this hike was definitely well worth it.
