This tour was disappointing because it was more about everything else and very little about whales. In fact we only saw one whale, kind of. We took a whale watching tour later in our vacation and it was superior to this one.

Response from Lindsay M, Public Relations Manager at Gray Whale Watching Cruise
Responded Aug 21, 2019
Thank you for your review. We appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns. Early in the season, the main hope of every gray whale watching cruise is to find and view these specific whales. As with all wildlife, their arrival to Alaska is varied and unpredictable. Our captains do their best to find the whales, but unfortunately, they may not be here everyday. With four hours on the water to search, we spend much time trying to find whales, but also want to highlight other wildlife and landscape viewing opportunities as we come across them. As the season progresses, more whales and more species of whales arrive and, during peak season, whale viewing opportunities are high which likely explains why later in your vacation you saw more whales. Thank you again for the feedback and we hope to cruise with you soon!

It was a misty magical mysterious day with low ceiling clouds and velvety water in the bay. We saw hungry birds and lazy sea lions, as well as one vain, preening sea otter.... then Mandy threw her lucky mermaid back to the sea (a small painted stone meant for that purpose). The…
