About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- anit9700 contributionsDisappointing! The 26 Glacier Cruise we did the day before in Whittier was much better than this: their boat was better, their service was better and the narration and the glaciers and wildlife were saw were better (though the sea lions we saw here were great!). Quite disappointed by this cruise. The boat was not as comfortable to begin with: the seating was cramped, the boat was cold, and the restrooms were only accessible from outside, which was really inconvenient on a cold and rainy day! There were only 3 restrooms that had to be shared between too many people (the 26 Glacier Cruise had 9 and they were inside the boat). The lunch was okay, and there was no complimentary tea/coffee/water on the boat. The Aialik glacier was not as good as the Harvard glacier that we visited on the 26 Glacier Cruise. And of course, we saw no whales. You can't blame them for there being no whales, but you can blame them for raising expectations with their advertising and pictures in their office! Sorry to compare everything with the other cruise, but that set the standard.Written September 15, 2024

- vmarz460 contributionsOrca boat rideKnowledge of captain was amazing. We learned so much about the Kenai Fjords! How he got all those animals to show up was a grand mystery, especially the orcas and otters!Written September 13, 2024
- mailforsjb0 contributionsTrip Canceled without noticeAfter we stood in the rain for an hour waiting to board, we learned the cruise had been cancelled hours before. THEN had to stand in long line if we wanted our money refunded. An email or text would have been greatly appreciated. Poor communication. Couldn’t tell you about the tour. We never made itWritten September 13, 2024
- bjoeh10 contributionsDefinitely an excellent experienceWe took the national park tour on Sept. 8 and saw stellar sea lions, harbor seals, puffins, humpback whales, jellyfish, eagles and even mountain goats - not to mention the beautiful glacier we visited as well. Great trip!!!!Written September 12, 2024
- atw05300 contributionsAn afternoon on the Alaskan ExplorerGreat experience sailing and taking in all the beautiful scenery. Enjoyed the animals we saw too. Lunch on Fox Island was very good!Written September 12, 2024
- tlf6100 contributionsAmazing cruise thru Kenai FjordsThe cruise was on a large catamaran with indoor seating. You could go outside along the deck if you wanted. The ship captain narrated and was very good at spotting wildlife. We saw a whale, sea otters, and puffins. The landscape was beautiful when we reached our destination, Holgate Glacier. They offered a nice deli lunch. You could buy soft drinks or alcoholic drinks if you wanted. The only negative was the weather. It was 45 degrees, windy, and misty the entire day.Written September 10, 2024
- akaska600 contributionsFun TourThis tour was really fun, we got to see a lot of wild life. However just know you will be on the boat the whole time except for Fox Island. You will see wildlife from afar. The tour boat has binoculars, but if you have some I would recommend to bring them. Definitely not much walking involved, so be prepared to be on the boat a majority of the time. The Prime Rib dinner was absolutely amazing, It made Fox Island a worthy stop.Written September 10, 2024
- 845tonip0 contributionsnice trip ..lots to see ..glacier is amazingwe saw lots of wildlife and even a whale this late in the season..glacier is amazing and caught some small ice calving and heard the cracking ..wish we could see more. Boat ride was good ,Captian tried to keep us out of the too rough water.Dress warm , rain jacket, hat, gloves if you plan to be outside while the boat is movingWritten September 10, 2024
- HHess190 contributionsVery scenic boat tour with glaciers, wildlife, and good food.We had a great boat tour in August 2024. The captain/narrator was such a good speaker on the microphone and found mountain goats, bald eagles, humpback whales, sea lions, seals, and puffins. One highlight was cruising through "the spires." The rock formations were really cool, and it clearly required skilled driving to squeeze through the boat through there. Getting up close to the glacier and watching it calve was also a highlight. Our tour included lunch and dinner. Lunch was good, we appreciated a hot meal since its a bit chilly out there. Dinner was served on Fox Island and it was fantastic, but it took a while to get all the passengers through the buffet line so we didn't have much time to eat. I don't think they're offering that specific tour anymore, but I think any tour with them would be great.Written September 10, 2024
- RickyATL0 contributionsAn awesome scenic and wildlife experienceIn order to see Kenai Fjords National park, you have to go on the boat tour. You get to see beautiful scenery, glaciers, Islands, rock formations. Also you get to see wildlife, bald eagle, otters, sea lions, and lots of whales.Written September 10, 2024
- sholmes9710 contributionsWonderful glacier and wildlife cruiseThe Kenia Fjord Tour cruise was great! They made sure we were comfortable and safe. Then they made sure we saw as much wildlife as possible, giving us ample time to enjoy each sighting. Then they made sure we had lots of opportunity to observe the glacier up close. So much knowledge was shared by the captain. They serve a great lunch with a yummy surprise at the end of the tour.Written September 10, 2024

This was an excellent 5 hour cruise of Resurrection Bay. For starters you park for free in their lot which is about 1/2 mile from where you board the boat. Their shuttle transports you to the pier. Our tour was 5 hours from 12 noon to 5 p.m. They recommend checking in and getting your boarding pass an hour early. We spent the time until boarding looking in the shops near the pier. Be sure to pick up a free "Kenai Fjords Wildlife Guide" in the gift shop as it will help you identify much of the wildlife you will see. The boat (Nunatak) was very comfortable, and passengers were not crowded together. The crew was most pleasant and informative. Water in the Bay was very calm so no worries about becoming seasick. The scenery was beautiful with snowcapped mountains, glaciers, and interesting rock formations and crystal-clear water. You can take photos both from inside the cabin or outside on the deck. We saw a lot of whales as well as many birds such as puffins and eagles. The whales seemed to attract large numbers of birds which was often a key of where to look. After about an hour at sea we landed at Fox Island for lunch. The lunch was much more than we expected. It was served buffet style and included salad, rolls, potatoes, a corn dish, salmon and chicken as well as a beverage. The dining area was very well maintained. The stop on Fox Island was for an hour so there was time after lunch to explore and take photos. Boarding the boat again, we cruised through an area with many otters and sea lions basking on the rocks. The cruise was one of the highlights of our Alaska visit and I would highly recommend it. Seward is about two hours from Anchorage but it is well worth the drive.

The captain and crew were amazing. The stop at Fox Island was nice.
5.5 house was the perfect amount of time. The captain spent a lot of time when a whale was spotted. Everyone on the boat had a good views of the whale and were able to get many photos. Thank you.
The warm cookie on the way back to the dock was a nice touch!

Great cruise aboard the Nunatak with Captain Emma. The Bay Cruise was perfect with almost all of the wildlife viewing without the rough waters sometimes you experience in the open ocean transits with the Park tours. Captain Emma's narrations were very informative and we saw lots of Orcas.
The visit to Fox Island was a perfectly picturesque cove and pleasant dining facility with an hour to hang out on the beach.

The cruise and lunch were great. Saw orcas, humpbacks, porpoises, puffins, and lots of wild birds and glaciers. There was a big show at boarding to wear masks. However, there was a big family group with multiple kids who were not masked throughout the cruise. The kids were running around with colds and snotty noses. Some of the staff were not masked either. Seriously felt unsafe.

Captain Chris knew how to locate the marine life! We saw sea otters, Dahl porpoises, sea lions, humpback whales, puffins and many more birds and animals. We enjoyed lunch on the boat and dinner at beautiful Fox Island. It was so much fun seeing all of the different animals. Captain Chris shared his knowledge of Resurrection Bay ecology and history and a lot of information about the animals we saw. A relaxing and amazing day!

Even though it was overcast & drizzly, the excusion was excellent. The staff was friendly and very welcoming. We spent an hour on Fox Island, which is plenty of time to eat, browse & buy in the gift shop, and hang out by the bay.

Seward is a rainforest and often, especially this summer, we have had those drizzly days. Luckily for us the beauty of the area sells itself. Thank you for traveling with Kenai Fjords Tours.

We got to see glaciers and whales and had a fabulous lunch. Also like the free RV parking and shuttle.
It was a cloudy and rainy day so much of the scenery was hard to see. The weather wasn’t the fault of the company or crew. I’m sure the trip would have been more enjoyable had the weather been clearer.

( We took this excursion in 2019 and thought I'd give a review now since we had such a wonderful time. And I can't imagine that it's changed) The Whale watching was outstanding. Lunch on Fox Island was great.. Our captain was outstanding with all the info about Resurrection Bay and areas to and from Fox Island. Will definitely go again!

The boat was clean and in good repair; the staff friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The food provided at the lodge on Fox Island was very good and plentiful.
Our trip started very overcast but cleared after lunch to provide for great sealife watching. Our captain was able to find many different areas hosting sea creatures for us to observe-sea lions, seals, sea otters, puffins, a number of other birds, and we were able to see a whale breach and dive a couple of times!
With the great weather, sea life viewing, interesting information shared, it was a great trip! And the free warm fresh baked cookies were a nice bonus! Thanks guys! I highly recommend the Resurrection Bay with Fox Island tour!

The morning started out foggy, and I was nervous we weren’t going to see anything, but boy was I wrong! We saw humpback whales, lots of puffins, bald eagles, sea otters, sea lions, harbor seals, and more. The lunch was surprisingly nice on Fox Island. The warm cookies at the end were a nice touch too. I think 5 hours was just the right amount of time.
