This was a phenomenal tour. Malika is funny, vibrant, and extensively knowledgable. We loved our tour with her and learned so much. This was by far thr best ghost tour I've ever been on. I highly recommend. If I had more time I'd do it again. You're missing out if you don't make this experience apart of you New Orleans trip.

Met at the gate of Louis Armstrong park for a wonderful walking tour.
This tour was amazing. The tour guide Malika from Anansi’s daughter deserves all the credit for that. Her story telling showcased the amazing amount of research that went into her narrative. From art to music to religion to history… it was all top notch!

Best ghost tour in New Orleans
Don't miss this amazing tour of New Orleans! We booked this as part of a 40th birthday celebration and everyone in our group enjoyed this evening. Malika is a fantastic story teller. I learned so much in 90 minutes about New Orleans culture, history and Vodoo. I can't wait to come back and take the other tours!

      Highlight of our trip!
Easily the best thing we did in New Orleans. Malika was incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and just plain fun. We loved our conversation with her, were fascinated by the information, and left feeling we had a MUCH deeper understanding of the music and history at the heart of this fascinating city. Can't recommend highly enough!

      Do this tour!!
Excellent tour, highly recommend! The tour is well-researched and you get really good historic context to the stories. Super entertaining tour guide and appreciate telling the real and truthful history without sugarcoating it. Hope to do another of their tours next time I’m in town. Love that they provide resources for additional self-study!

      Creepy yet educational ghost tour!
I booked this tour for my partner and I for our first trip to New Orleans. We wanted a tour that centered Black stories and this tour exceeded our expectations. Malika is a compelling and talented tour guide. She guided us through the French Quarter and didn't just tell stories of ghosts, but instead she gave valuable historical/cultural context for the era with the perfect amount of creepy haunted intel. Book this tour, you will not regret it!

      Amazing and knowledgeable
Wonderful and very educational and in depth. You can tell Malika knows what she is talking about and is passionate about the history of Voodoo and how it shaped New Orleans. I wish this was a sit down lecture with PowerPoint slides to be honest it was so interesting and I wanted more!

      Great tour in New Orleans
My family and I did the Voodoo tour with Eshé and were impressed with her knowledge and overall engagement. I’d recommend this tour to anyone who is interested in learning about Voodoo and New Orleans.

      Thank you Malika!
Malika is absolutely amazing! You need to do this tour. This was the only thing we booked in advance for our trip, and so glad we did. The Blackest Ghost Tour is exceptional.

So nice, I did it twice.
The tour was excellent. The "blackest" ghost tour was a spin on words. I assumed the word referred to the tour being about the darkest horrors. It actually means that the tour includes black history information related to the ghosts in the area. The guide was very informative and open to the questions from the tourists. She also added her own personality and that made the tour feel relaxed. It was so nice that I also did the Voodoo history tour a couple days later.

      Fact checking American Horror Story
My girlfriend and I went on The Blackest Ghost Tour with Malika. We go on at least one ghost tour whenever we visit a new city, and this is one of the best tours I've been on. I learned a lot about the history of New Orleans, some of the sites with the highest reportings of experiences with the dead (including a picture of some of the apparitions), voodoo, and the complex history of race and ethnicity in the city (including some clarity on creole & cajun, free people of color, plaçage, and challenges to the idea/myth I heard several times in my first day in New Orleans that slavery was more humane in New Orleans or Lousiana more broadly). It also helped clear up some things from American Horror Story. The tour has nuance and gives the scoop on ghosts without being sensational. Skeptics might appreciate some of the euhemeristic interpretations of vampires.

Best tour we have ever been on!
WOW WOW WOW!!! My family and I had the privilege of experiencing the Blackest Ghost Tour with Malika as our tour guide. We were wowed from the moment she began her storytelling until the very end. To be able to see New Orleans through the eyes of its people and its Black history is a gift that we do not take for granted. Malika was patient, her story-telling accessible, and her deep love for what she does, palpable!!! We are counting down the days until we are back in New Orleans, and readying to experience the other tours Anansi's Daughters has to offer! Immense gratitude for the love and knowledge shared with us.

This was an amazing tour. While not as “fun” in the traditional as some New Orleans tours, this was by the best tour I’ve been on in the city. Eshé was incredibly knowledgeable about Vodou and its influence on the history of the city. I would gladly do this tour again and encourage anyone who has come to New Orleans for thé typical fun the city offers to spend a couple sober hours on this tour.

Eshe was an incredibly knowledgable and gregarious guide, giving insight into her fascinating culture and beliefs, and relaying the historical events that led to the evolution of Voodoo. She was wonderfully warm and funny, injecting her personality into the tour as she debunked a lot of the sensationalised myths of Voodoo. I especially enjoyed the truths about the voodoo dolls. The tour was based solely in Louis Armstrong park, walking around and stopping at various points to discuss the Congo square and the religious importance of the flora and sculpture. An enjoyable, informative and fun 2 (and a half) hours.

The tour was amazing and super interesting! It was a cold day but I didn’t feel it because I thought everything was so interesting. Seriously, I will make sure that everyone I know going to New Orleans make sure to have this tour. It was the highlight of the trip and Eshé is an amazing storyteller. She weaves the complex history of voodoo and New Orleans so beautifully into the whole tour and leaves you wanting to know a whole lot more. It was definitely one of the best tours I’ve ever been to and a true privilege 🙏

This tour covered everything I wanted from a New Orleans tour. Eshè answered our questions, provided additional insight, spoke with power about her personal story, and tied it all together with the history of NOLA.

We learned, laughed, and had our eyes well up with tears as Eshè guided us through NOLA’s complicated history. I’m happy to have met her, been apart of one her tours, and learn about her people’s history.

Five star experience. Five star guide. Five star information.

    Thank you.

The Nola Voodoo Tour was an interesting journey through the history of New Orleans. Eshe was a knowledgeable guide, who brought the city's voodoo/vadun culture to life with a perfect blend of personal storytelling and historical facts. Offering a unique and engaging way to explore the city's rich cultural heritage. The tour was quite lengthy, so just be aware of giving yourself plenty of time. However I would still recommended it for those seeking a more authentic history lesson that debunks Hollywood's depiction of Voodoo.

LOVED this tour! I could have listened to our tour guide, Eshe (so sorry I don't know how to add the accent mark on my laptop) talk about the history of the city for the entirety of my trip. I didn't even bother with any other tours because this tour was so authentic and would have put all others to shame.

My friends and I had an amazing, authentic experience on this tour. High Priestess Eshé was a superb storyteller and gave great insight into the history of the city, the Haitian revolution, slavery in New Orleans, and the origins of voodoo.

We left the tour feeling deeply moved and more educated. I honestly cannot recommend this experience enough.

I’m so glad I booked this tour! Eshe was a wonderful tour guide that gave a historically accurate and authentic overview of local voodoo. Eshe was great at checking in with folks about questions and addressing common myths about voodoo. It was also nice to keep the tour within the park with it being so warm outside. It sounds like they are hoping to open a shop within the next few years. I highly recommend supporting their tours to promote local women who actually practice voodoo and so gracefully share their knowledge.

We’re so glad we booked this tour, and not a tour based upon hyped Hollywood version of vodou. Eshé was an amazing tour guide, sharing the history of peoples in New Orleans, the origin and meaning of vodou in the area, and the untrue stereotypes that, unfortunately, so many still believe and profit upon. We truly appreciated her openness of personal stories and answering of all questions . Our teenage son was even intrigued by the tour, which says a lot if video games or videos aren’t involved!

This tour is an absolute must-do in New Orleans! We are tourists, but even locals would benefit from the experience. Our guide was Eshe and she was incredible. She was informative, personable and went above and beyond to ensure all questions were answered and that everyone in the group had an opportunity to engage if they chose to. We learned so much cultural history in N.O.; clarified ATR & vodou information; made recommendations for authentic spots in the area; and the list goes on. We are so grateful we chose this tour and will definitely book it again when we're back in N.O. because no 2 tours are ever the same. Thank you Eshe and Anansi's Daughters for providing such an amazing tour!
