- T2644RSlaurac0 contributionsLegendary Tours did not disappointThe bus picked up up within the time frame expected. It was comfortable seating and clean. - alimc19670 contributionsBeautiful house with a dark historyFantastic trip. The bus picked us up on time and the driver was very informative. The tour around Laura Plantation was led by Lindie, she was amazing, an impassioned historian with a wealth of knowledge about the property and its past inhabitants. I learnt alot and would highly recommend this plantation tour.Written August 28, 2024

Definitely worth the price and a day well spent learning about our country's not so wonderful history.Written February 26, 2024
- Sue B0 contributionsRecommendIf you don’t have a car or just don’t want to drive, we recommend this option. Our driver, Edward, was friendly, a good driver, and informative. His commentary on the way out was interesting and fun. Our tour guide at the plantation, Krystyn, was also excellent, both passionate and informed. All the staff we met were helpful and willing to answer questions about the plantation.Written January 11, 2024

They would not refund my money because they said i had given them the wrong email. They had my cell they could have confirmed. I'm very disappointed 😞. I had to pay twice for a tour . Not good businessWritten February 27, 2023
- Shayweezyfbaby0 contributionsEnlightening and Insightful Self Guided Tour of Whitney PlantationVery insightful self guided tour of Whitney Plantation. I love that this plantation specifically focuses on the lives and testimonies of the actual slaves and not just their masters. The information is powerful and so very sad but also enlightening at the same time. Our bus diver Edward did an excellent job of telling us about the landmarks an history of New Orleans and Louisiana during our drive to the plantation. Also appreciated that he stopped along the road to let us take pictures of the other plantations as well. I’m not usually into self guided tours, but this one was extremely well organized, and Legendary Tours did a great job.Written February 24, 2023
- alexal5170 contributionsLegendary Tours was great—highly recommendLegendary Tours was great. They had availability when other tours did not. I called and spoke to a staff member who was very helpful. She discussed the different tours, then would have changed which tour I had registered for over the phone. The driver picked me up on time. He was informative and friendly during the drive, but not excessively talkative, just the perfect amount. He pointed out sites and gave history as we passed them. The bus was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. We arrived early in the day, so we had one of the earliest tours. There were only 5 people in my tour, with me included. The tour that was starting as we finished had about 25 participants. So getting into the early tour was nice. We had plenty of time to tour the property. I could have easily picked up some food to go, but I didn’t need to eat there. There probably wasn’t enough time to sit and eat at the restaurant with a waiter, but that didn’t seem necessary. I do wish I had done the Whitney tour. I opted to do the Oak Alley tour because of the availability to get food (I was traveling later that day), but I didn’t need it, and there were no grab and go vegetarian options. The big house tour does focus on the owners. Growing up in the North, it’s hard to reconcile wealth and owning other people. I did appreciate the fact that the last owner realized her role in history and donated the house. But out of my conscientious objection, I did not take any pictures of the house, just of the slave quarters. There is a self guided tour of the slave quarters. There was also a guided tour of that area, but the time conflicted with my scheduled big house tour. So, from my perspective, if I were doing this over, I would absolutely use Legendary Tours as my choice for transportation, but I would recommend going to Whitney (which gives much more of the slave perspective, but is only self-guided) instead of Oak Alley. Legendary Tours is definitely the company to choose. Thank you.Written February 1, 2023
- gscar350 contributionsGreat Tiem with Outstanding Guide/DriverWe took the tour of the Oak Alley Plantation. The plantation visit was very good, but the trip to the plantation was great. We had a funny and informative driver. He was on time and on point. He gave you enough information to be interesting, but not so many details you lost track. I would use the company again.Written November 23, 2022

Highly recommended company and tour.
Very good communication - we got a call the morning of the tour and a call from our driver when he was a few blocks away. We were picked up from our hotel. Our driver Edward was very gracious and gave us a humorous and informative tour of the sites along the way to Whitney Plantation. We passed by a few other plantations on the way to Whitney and Edward made a quick stop in front of each for a photo, letting us know what tv/movies were filmed there.
At Whitney we were dropped off and given our lanyards, audio tour handheld devices and headphones. You walk along to each site and type in the number of the site for info on what you are seeing. There is plenty of seating along the way. You can enter The Big House, a slave cabin and Antioch Church. We found the tour very well organized and informative Excellent gift shop with a very good book selection, postcards, jewelry and handcrafts, etc.
Highly recommend Legendary Tours and the plantation, which is the only one to give the perspective of the enslaved.

Edward, our tour driver, was exceptionally knowledgeable and provided fascinating historical insights about New Orleans and the surrounding areas throughout our ride. His skilled driving and engaging conversation enriched my experience and stimulated my curiosity. I had been eagerly anticipating a visit to Whitney Plantation, and it certainly did not disappoint. The thorough research, visual representations, and powerful first-hand accounts from the enslaved Africans through the audio tour made for an incredibly impactful experience. Whitney Plantation is a must-visit for anyone seeking a deeper understanding of history. Cecilia

While visiting New Orleans, my husband said he wanted to take a plantation tour and there are a few available about an hour outside of New Orleans. We found this one on line and even found a small discount code. I was not sure what to expect, since I usually one of the larger chain tours. Let me just say that this company did NOT disappoint. They were professional and prompt and courteous. We were called the morning of and given a pick up time of 8:05am, while our driver did arrive slightly after that (New Orleans traffic is super unpredictable), it was well within the 8-8:30am window were quoted. We boarded a clean bus and proceeded to pick up additional passengers and were shortly on our way. As soon as we hit the highway, Edward, our wonderful guide, began telling us all sorts of history and stories along the way. Some of the topics were difficult to cover, but he did it with tact and diplomacy, while keeping it real. We got a chance to drop off other tour first and so saw extra plantations, filming locations and mansions as a bonus. Edward pulled over briefly for us to take pictures and kept moving in a safe manner. When we arrived at Whitney, we were warmly greeted by the staff, given our headsets and participated in a very moving, informative self guided/self paced tour. There is a small gift shop with snacks, drinks, books and gift items at great prices and an indoor exhibit that you should set some time aside for. We had 2 hours to see everything and I wished we had more time. It is a slice of American history that everyone should see. Edward picked us up promptly at 12:30 and we headed back to town, he even took a different way, so we would not hit as much traffic. When he began his drop offs, he informed us we could get off anywhere we liked and so many of us took advantage of this and enjoyed the French Quarter. It was a wonderful tour, tour company, tour staff, tour transportation. I cannot say enough... Take this tour- with this company.......

This was a very moving experience. Self guided audio tour of the plantation with a focus on the experience and suffering of the slaves. There are first person accounts of the experiences of the slaves who labored at this sugar cane plantation. Stories past down through the generations are described in graphic detail. This is a place all Americans should visit to really begin to understand the suffering and inhumanity that the American slaves went through in the early years of the republic. They also do a good job of describing what life was like on the plantation after emancipation. There is also a beautiful monument depicting the children who toiled and died on the plantation. Very tastefully done. Really an unforgettable and eye opening experience.

My family and I really enjoyed this tour. It was about an hr drive to the plantation and Edward shared lots of great info and historical facts about the city not only to the location but even on the way back. We had 2 hours at the plantation and it was more than enough time to get through everything. We never felt rushed and took our time going through the audio tour. I would highly recommend this tour.

We did the day trip with 2 plantations: Oak Alley and then Whitney Plantation. The closest pick up stop was a short walk away from our French Quarter stay, and the bus was punctual with our initial pickup and from each plantation. Our driver was Edward, and he gave us great information on the hour drive to the plantation areas, and was a really cool guy.
It was nice not having to deal with a car rental, and this was a great value. We toured 2 plantations, which included the House Tour for Oak Alley, and Edward checked us in to both places and got us on our way.

Out driver Mr. Edmond was great! We were picked up on time, he was skillful at maneuvering through traffic, and entertaining as well.
The Whitney Plantation tour was well worth the trip. I learned so much untold history. Hearing tales of rge South through voices of the enslaved is truly eye opening.
The place was beautiful, haunting, and fascinating.
I highly recommend this tour and Legendary Tours for quality, safety, and value.

The tour company changed my tour from 10 AM to 8 AM as of 7 PM the night before because not enough people booked. I was out seeing Soul Rebels until 2 AM so this sucked. It left me no time to book with a competing company for a better time slot.
Also the bus broke down while we were at the plantation so we had to wait extra for another company to pick us up, which dropped me further away than I was originally picked up.
Whitney was A+ otherwise tho

Hello Paul,
thanks for doing business with Legendary Tours. Per your reservation Legendary Tours do not pick up at the hotel you were staying at which is located on the outskirt of the Treme neighborhood. Now it would have been gracious of you to state our company picked you up from said hotel do to the change on your reservation. Being that you was the only person booked for the 10 a.m pick up. As for our sister company they were on site for the return pick up/drop off before the tour ended (no wait time). Alternative would have been to wait for Legendary Tours to fix flat or send out another bus. We chose convenient promptness for our guests. Also the return trip dropped off at the designated location for your hotel which was also stated in your reservation.
Note: majority of tour companies call centers closes after 8pm.
Thank you,
Legendary Tours

Enjoyed our tour of the Whitney Plantation. It is self-guided, which I loved because there is no rush or struggle to listen to someone guide a large group. Our driver gave information during the drive, it was about a 1 hour ride from our downtown hotel. We were also picked up directly from our hotel within the given time frame. Would definlelty recommend this tour!

Was picked up at our hotel so we didn't have to find a meeting spot. Driver was informative along the way. The Whitney plantation was extremely well done, telling the stories of the slaves and what they had to endure. It was a very somber experience but the stories needed to be told!

Hi! I am wondering where this tour pickup/drop off locations are located?
Written September 1, 2022
They had us meet the tour bus at the Walgreens on Canal, which was down the street from our hotel. Others from nearby also met there. That was also the drop off site too.
