- 316helenm0 contributionsFantastic walking tour!We learned so much about French Quarter history on this tour. And our guide pointed out plenty of fun things to do later in the day which came in handy when it started raining. We got oriented to the layout of the quarter which helped with the rest of our trip. We’re so lucky we had Dave guide us through time and New Orleans!Written October 5, 2024

- constanzez5680 contributionsDefinitly recommend it!We had an amazing tour with Nate. He was so friendly and knowlegable. His stroytelling was funny and he adapted to what we were interested in. It's great to be shown around by a local!Written September 7, 2024
- ambert7570 contributionsOk walking tourWe took the Scandalous Cocktail tour. While the history was good about the surrounding areas as we walked, no history about the drinks. At a couple of the venues it kinda felt like we "crashed the party" as we just squeezed into the bar to get a drink. Nice guide, just more history surrounding the "Scandalous drinks".Written August 29, 2024
- trbbins0 contributionsWoo Dave!We had an exceptional tour with Dave yesterday! He is a wealth of Louisiana/New Orleans knowledge and you can sense the passion he has for sharing the city. As first time visitors, he shared all sorts of information that we didn't hear on any of our other tours and really gave us a contextual deep dive and good lay of the land. He was also really familiar with the different architectural styles for the area! Overall, Dave is the best and we highly recommend any tour with him!Written August 25, 2024
- Mobile047872050270 contributionsDavid was outstanding !The best guided tour I’ve ever been on. David, our tour guide, was absolutely incredible. His knowledge of NOLA music and the convergence of cultures was remarkable. David was Personable, funny and full of energy. He also brought along an iPad and small speaker so he could show us examples of music, history, and culture. I’ve traveled a lot, but this was the best tour.Written August 25, 2024
- virginiab6790 contributionsPhenomenalVery educational and my tour guide Nate was wonderful. He knows the culture and history true local to the heart . Looking forward to a voodoo tour next round . There is more to life than Bourbon St if you walk just a little further 😉Written August 21, 2024
- joaha4620 contributionsNot HistoricalPoor history and timeliness. We were booked for Friday, but they rescheduled us to Saturday. We could have booked a river tour instead. I should have asked for a refund now that I look back. The host kept jumping around with pop culture, music, random personal stories, Nicholas cage etc.. I felt liked we booked a comical gimmick tour rather than a historical one. Sorely let down. Save your money and time. Just go to a museum. You'll learn more there. We had to pause him several times to get the background on buildings we were looking at. Money, two evenings, and time wasted.Written August 18, 2024

Everyone on this tour with us should get a refund, it was awful. We spent about an hour in Congo Square listening to our “guide” go on and on about his father’s music career and musicians he had met. We spent nearly another hour listening/watching a video of Mahalia Jackson at the Newport Jazz Festival. The closest we got to the locations we were supposed to visit was our “guide” pointing in one direction or another. A total waste of time, I feel like I was robbed because I didn’t get anything close to what I paid for and was looking forward to. Don’t waste your time with this tour, it was the worst tour ever!!!

Our Music of New Orleans tour was canceled at the last minute. But they offered us a tour of Treme/ Voo Doo a half hour earlier. We were able to get there in time. There was only 4 total people on the tour, so our tour guide David did a great job adapting his tour to also include a lot about Music as well. He was very knowledgeable and funny. He used an IPad to show videos and music to amplify his stories and "prove" his stories were true. For example, we looked at things provided by the Library of Congress.

The guide arrived on one of those pedal bikes after 2:00 start. Didn't seem prepared. We only went inside the Louis Armstrong Park for 3 stop and story sections. She said that she ran out of things to say. The tour was to end at Preservation Hall - but we were done at the Park after 1 hour. We were dismissed. I felt with so much music history, there would be more than could fill 2 hours and outside the Park. Very disappointed.

Ridiculous. Started out by them sending us to a starting point that as an abandoned building and the guide showing up late. Then it went downhill. The tour guide just rambled for 2 hours. He has decided that ALL music for the last 200 years, and I mean ALL, is derived from African slave music from New Orleans. No joke. Even classical music that clearly took inspiration from Europe. In addition, I feel there must be some issue w his licensing, as every time we passed another tour group, he made a point of hiding his official tour guide id. I really should have just walked away after 30 min. It didn't get better. Don't waste your time or money. 50% of his talk was " have you heard of _______?" With weird obscure artists. I literally said at the end "there's 2 hours of my life I'll never get back". Horrible tour.

We booked this tour with my friend the day before, without really knowing what to expect, and we ended up having the best experience ever! David Higgins was our guide and he was just fantastic! He told us about New Orleans' history for two hours and we were just captivated. He's passionate and always had very interesting comments about everything, not only music. We didn't regret a single minute of this tour and I would recommand it to anyone who wants to learn about music and spend a captivating moment.
Thank you!
Thank you!

Enjoyed learning about the history of the Congo revival and the beginnings of jazz and rock n roll. Our guide was very knowledgeable on the history. My only complaint is that our tour was supposed to end at Preservation Hall, but our tour guide cut the 2 hour tour 30 minutes short and did not take us to visit Preservation Hall.

The guide, Rob, is extremely knowledgeable about the history of music in NOLA. He played examples of the music he was talking about as we went through the tour which really crystallized the info for us. One of the best tours I’ve been on.

Love love loveeeed this tour along with our guide! The tour guide, NIKA, was spectacular! She delivered the most amazing vibes, she was fun to talk to and be around. She knew how to vibe and be serious and have fun all at the same time. You can tell she loves her job, talking and teaching people about the music history of Louisiana!! 10/10 would come back and have her as my tour guide again! Thank you NIKA, you made what usual boring walking tours into a fun and enjoyable learning experience!! <3

David Higgins is an absolute character, an enthusiastic story teller, and educator. I thought I knew quite a bit about jazz, but the way he put all the pieces together had all of us thinking and talking about the tour for days. We could have listened to him all day! His father was a jazz drummer who had played with many big name jazz artists, and although he didn't talk about himself much, it seemed like he is a musician also. The amount of research he put into his tour was very evident, and he even had videos and photos to show us along the way. If you like jazz and want to learn about how it started you must do David's tour! IT'S A GUMBO!! :)
