About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Climber464158701320 contributionsHighly recommended!Great tour and excellent tour guide. We were given a comprehensive overview of New Orleans in a comfortable bus. The trip went about 15-20 minutes over the scheduled 3 hours, but we didn’t mind too much as we had nothing planned afterward. Also, we were picked up in a bus that said “Ghost Tours” on the side, so that was a bit confusing. But, all in all, I would definitely recommend this tour!Written September 24, 2024
- Hall9870 contributionsNOLA tourLearned a lot from the tour director/driver as he showed our group some of the things that happened after Katrina hurricane and some of the ways the city have changed afterwards. We visited some spots that got the worse of that terrible storm and parts of the city that is still rebuilding. It's a great tour if you want to know the inter workings of the area and the true history that is not seen on the internetWritten September 21, 2024
- kampin0 contributionsHreat bus tour with few stopsThis tour was as expected. The beignets were delicious and Joseph’s knowledge of the city was wonderful! I learned a lot!Written September 17, 2024

I returned to the garden district next day to give it some more time and recall all information provided on the tour.Written August 26, 2024
- Voyager296620835250 contributionsAmazing! The tour guide did an excellent job of providing great history of New Orleans! Our 15 minute stops allowed rich history of about Katrina and the Gravesites. I highly recommend this tour to others.Written August 19, 2024
- alan o0 contributionsCity bus tour.Excellent, a great way to see New Orleans and learn some if it's history. Our driver was Rhonda who was extremely knowledgeable and humerous. She was also an excellent driver. I highly recommend this trip for all visitors, especially firdt time visitors, to New Orleans.Written August 19, 2024
- LoveTravel6819890 contributionsA Motor City in Nola ReviewThe bus driver was very knowledgeable and seem to really know the city. I appreciate it all of the different landmarks that he pointed out and you could tell he knew the city inside and out. My only complaint is that the bus wasn’t cool enough for the temperature, and it has smelled to it. It could’ve been a little cleaner.Written August 15, 2024
- Lauren O0 contributionsHighly recommend, best tour I’ve ever had! This was by far the best tour I’ve ever had on a vacation! Joseph was our guide and he was excellent! He had a wealth of knowledge about New Orleans and was just amazing in telling us the history. . He brought us to all of the places we wanted to see. The history of New Orleans is quite fascinating! I would highly recommend this tour, you will not be dissapointed! And hopefully you get Joseph, he was AMAZING!Written August 13, 2024

- Go225152437770 contributionsA must, especially in summer monthsJoseph was phenomenal, with his New Orleans accent and his obvious passion for New Orleans culture and history. Definitely do this tour in the comfort of an air conditioned minibus!Written August 4, 2024
- O8040GJlisaw0 contributionsDecline of jazz in New Orleans, increased homelessness and addictionsI wanted to visit New Orleans because of the wonderful history of Jazz. I stayed very close to the French quarter and bourbon street. It was hugely disappointing as the streets were filled with homeless people on the streets. The stench of urine and empty liquor bottles were everywhere. For a city that has such strong roots in jazz, the focus has moved away from this and the French quarter and main streets are more party street. The water front was not developed and though has much potential seems to be overlooked. Hugely disappointing.Written July 16, 2024
- 686leishaw0 contributionsBasic tourThe seats in the bus were stained and filthy. Gary the tour guide was very knowledgeable but made very minimal stops it would have been nice to have stopped at the waterfront for some pictures.Written June 28, 2024
- Q7488ABdebrak0 contributionsSouthern Tour done rightSouthern tours, tour guide Gary more specifically captured the true essence of the charm, and ambiance, of what this city offers a traveler that looks for something different. The home-grown southerner expanded our knowledge in depth with tantalizing facts that left you wanting more. The sights of this city are just amazing. We saw the good and the bad. The beignets at Cafe De Monde did not disappoint! Who knew that so many “stars” call this place home. Thank you Gary for such an exhilarating, unforgettable tour of an amazing city. You did New Orleans proud!Written June 24, 2024
- K3167FHstephc0 contributionsGary K was the best guide!Gary was an Amazing 🤩 guide! Loved being driven around the city so I didn’t have to navigate for my husband and him miss the experience because he was driving. Gary was very knowledgeable and funny! I will definitely tell my friends and family this was the best way to see all the city!Written June 3, 2024

Just done the Oak Alley Plantation trip with Southern Style tours and found it very disappointing.
The plantation itself was beautiful with informative displays and I would highly recommend a visit.
The issue was with the transportation and the timings. We were told Hotel pickup was at 8am but actually it was nearer 8.30 with drop off at around 1.30. So around 5 hours in total with travel time of about an hour each way. However we were dropped off at the plantation house at 1015 and picked up at 1135 because our tour was combined with two other tours. 1 hour and 20 minutes is just not enough time to look around the house, grounds and exhibits.
The driver, although thoroughly amiable, seemed very disorganised, leaving the plantation without 2 guests who we had to return for.
We were a group of 5 and effectively paid $225 for the transport. It would have been far cheaper to hire a car for the day which would have given us a much longer time at the plantation

Steven picked us up timely and after several other pickups, headed out for a 3-1-2020 morning tour of Oak Alley, with some folks dropped off at Laura Plantation for a tour of that plantation. Steven provided a nice history of the plantation era, and also shared some information about the wildlife prevalent in the bayou and swamp regions. The crowds were low in the morning and it was a perfect upper 60's, low 70's temperature. We so enjoyed this experience, and highly recommend the morning tour.

The plantation is beautiful. The tour of the home was a little disappointing. You are NOT allowed to take any photos inside of the home. The tour guide was very monotone and you are not seeing the entire house. You are rushed along in a large group, as they book each group 15 minutes apart. The rest of the plantation is self guided.

The long and short of it, bring a jacket and wear long pants! This is a critique of the drive to and from the plantation, which is what you are buying. The tours of the Plantation are provided by the plantation and are excellent. The bus driver there and back was great, full of stories and a solid driver. Here’s what killed it for us. It was a cold and rainy day and the AC was on in the bus. I asked a number of times to turn it down, and he did, but we and others were still very cold and to shy to make a fuss. What’s worse is it blows on the back of your neck and feet, which today were wet because of the rain. When we stepped out into the 70 degree air I wanted to kiss the sky! Such a relief. So if your don’t love cold AC when you are dressed for a warm day, bring fall weather clothes for the two hour round trip.
ONE MORE THING, and this is for the company to read. Please make people pay before they get on the bus! Making us wait while the driver hand types in the credit card information into his phone to collect payments for 20 minutes before we get started is just insulting and made us late to the tour. Everyone was grumbling. Other companies don’t do it this way. Lesson: Next time I’ll rent a car.

Oak Alley. Very impressive! The entire experience was just perfect! The tour company was organized and communicated well every step of the way. Our tour bus driver, KP, was absolutely the best! He was so accommodating, knowledgeable, and really had our enjoyment as his priority. Highly recommend! The plantation was beautiful and they did a great job telling the sides of both the owners’ and slaves’ perspective.

Southern Style Tours charged $79 ($75 with coupon) for the Oak Alley Plantation tour. I took the tour because I wanted to learn about the history of plantations and related issues in Louisiana. I was assured this would happen when I purchased my ticket. Unfortunately, this did not happen. There was no commentary provided on the 45 minute drive, turned to over an hour due to traffic issues. The ten plus passengers were left to stare out the windows or talk among themselves. Upon reaching the plantation, our time was not extended to make up for the time lost in traffic so the visit was rushed. Also disappointing was the price of admission of $30 for the “Big House” tour and grounds. Meaning that of the $79 charged by Southern Style,, $45 went to the bus ride.
The tour itself was also disappointing. The tour guide was somewhat unfriendly, particularly at the beginning of the tour. The tour was also short. It included 4 rooms - not a very “big tour” for a “big house”
Overall, the tour was a big disappointment.

Myself, my wife and 2 kids went on a tour of the Laura Plantation about a week ago. I am a college & career counselor and my wife is a teacher so we were beyond satisfied with our tour. It was extremely informative and eye-opening.
We learned in depth about the family lineages of the plantation owners, the extremely skilled slaves who were brought specifically from Senegal due to their prowess with constructing houses, and so forth. As educators/history buffs we would have stayed later if possible. Our tour guide "Gus" was also a native of the region whose first language was French and he recommended some good books at the conclusion of the tour.
But the crown jewel of the tour was our bus driver "my guy" Andy. As a native of New Orleans his passion for his city was infectious and we immediately bonded due to his mutual love for history. En route from the city to the plantation Andy proceeded to give us a mix of Socio-Historical take on his home (sprinkled with humor which endeared him to his passengers) and made us all feel welcomed. He was just as warm on the way back to the hotel.
Lastly, my son left his wristwatch in the van and when we called Andy on his cell he immediately brought us the watch back! Thank you, Andy!
We can not recommend this tour enough.

Our bus driver KP was great. He pointed out sights of interest on the way, and was on time both picking up and returning.
The time at the plantation was a bit short, but I had read that and knew to expect a quick turn around.
I appreciated the new emphasis on discussing both the lives of the enslaved people that made the plantation great, as well as the family. Wonderful trip with a good historical perspective of the times.

House and grounds were very interesting and honest of the time period. But the only “guide” was in the house. And only 2 hours of actual visit. The drive was a full hour each way plus the travel pickup/drop off of other travelers The driver was just that..a driver and no guide of New Orleans or Oak Alley.

We booked through Southern Style tours and they outlined the available tour times and pick up times. I’d suggest checking with a tour operator or on the plantation website if you have your own transportation

Can't kelp. I took the bus from the base of Bourbon Street. Do an internet search on Oak Alley admission and the website has the prices. It won't let me post the web address. has the different admission prices. Hope that helps. It looks like $ 25 per adult. There are various discounts listed.
