Overview

Paddle through the bayous of Louisiana on this kayaking tour of the Manchac and Maurepas swamps. Trade the bustle of the Big Easy for the lush serenity of cypress forests located just a short drive away from New Orleans. No kayak experience is needed to enjoy a voyage through these lush, wildlife-rich wetlands. Optional transportation means you can visit without renting a car.

What to Expect

Depending on transport option selected, meet at the launch location or get picked up at a central New Orleans meeting point for the 45-minute drive outside the city. After a safety briefing and basic paddling instructions, climb aboard a tandem kayak and launch into the swamp with a guide and small group of no more than eight (single kayaks are available for odd-number groups).

Feel a world away from Bourbon Street as you paddle on the calm waters that wind through the moss-draped cypress forests of the Maurepas and Manchac swamps. During your approximately 2 hours on the water, learn about the wetland ecosystem and keep an eye out for native Louisiana wildlife including the famous American alligator.

Stunning views of the swamp

This was the HIGHLIGHT of my bachelorette weekend in New orleans. Our guide, Sunny, was so down to earth and she made this experience seamless. Request her if you can! Very knowledgable about the swamp. If you're looking for variety & nature on your trip,...More

Great geography lesson amidst beautiful swamplands

Our guide Jeffrey was incredibly passionate and knowledgable. Learning about the rich history and topography of Louisiana whilst navigating through the serene swamplands was simply magical. We even saw a baby alligator! Highly recommend this tour for people who appreciate nature and the great outdoors.

Beautiful Scenery

Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. The water was like a mirror, the foliage, cypress and spanish moss was wonderful. And there were some baby alligators and tiny green tree frogs.

The best way to see the swamp

I'm so glad we found this company. The tour was great. When we drove out everything was shrouded in mist but it got sunny while we were in the kayaks so we got to experience both atmospheres. We saw alligators and birds and learned tons...More

Great Escape from the City

We had a great tour with Kelly - he had a lot of info to share about the wildlife and our surroundings, and gave great kayaking advice whenever someone needed it. We loved seeing the Bald Eagles' nest - so cool! My only regret is...More

Sometimes bugs can be an issue, but rarely during the daytime, thankfully! Guides are always prepared.

1) We were on the water about 1.5 hours. 2) We booked directly from the website 3) Wr had several have a rental car and meet us. The guide gives directions to you when you book, but they are also listed on the website.
