Highlights
  • Venture beyond the French Quarter to less touristy parts of the city
  • Leisurely pace and flat route is suitable for most riders
  • Cover more ground than a walking tour with the flexibility to stop often
What to expect
Pick up your bike and meet your guide in the French Quarter, and begin with a ride through this famously funky neighborhood, plus the historic districts of Faubourg Marigny and Faubourg Tremé. Then go beyond the touristy boundaries to explore more of the city, following leafy Esplanade Avenue to the green expanse of City Park, passing St. Louis Cemetery No. 3. Pay tribute to the city’s jazz heritage in Louis Armstrong Park and Congo Square, and pedal to the shores of Bayou St. John, a critical waterway used by Native Americans, early settlers, voodoo practitioners, and even pirates. Expect to cover a total distance of about 10 miles (16 kilometers) at a leisurely pace before finishing the tour back in the French Quarter.

We went on the Creole bike tour. It was a 3 hour low to medium intensity bicycle ride through the edge of French Quarter, cemetery #2, up Esplanade st, to City Park and back. All the historical facts satisfied my history channel self. But the way Eric added the elements of his childhood in New Orleans, the French/ Creole language into each story was an art form. Honestly, we could have just listened to his stories for 3 hrs in a cafe and been satisfied. We had plenty of stops to rest and get off our bike for 10 minutes at a time. The nice stop to get Beignets at Cafe du Monde at City park was a nice perk without the 1 hr line at the other location in the French Quarter. The bicycle trip was a nice way to travel the city with a nice breeze to keep you cool. It was a highlight of our trip!

Wow, this was the highlight of our trip. Eric was pleasant,, entertaining and an absolute wealth of knowledge. He shared great and fascinated deets about the city,, the birth of American music,, cemeteries, Katrina and flood management, the local dialect and much more!!! He also worked with us when the original day of our tour was raining cats and dogs.. he worked to get us a new time..

The bikes are comfortable and well-maintained. He supplies a helmet and a water. On this particular tour, we stopped at Cafe Dumond...but not the over crowded one by the Mississippi, one that was in a beautiful park (with a restroom!) and my wife and I scored some beignets with no waiting.

If you only do one thing...I suggest this be it! Thanks again, Eric!

This was a great experience. Our guide shared so much great history and insight into the culture of this incredible city, and he clearly loves the culture and community. Being in the bike was such a fun and relaxing way to cover a lot of ground. Definitely a highlight and highly recommended!

** they stop at Cafe DuMonde in the City Park - so don't waste your time standing in line in the French Quarter **

There were 4 of us - ages 31 to 61. I love bike tours and I really liked this one. It was a beautiful day. We walked from the French Quarter to the bike shop and took off for the tour. The riding is flat and easy and the bikes are comfortable "beach cruiser" style. Loved seeing the City Park, Cemetery, Canals, Bayou and architecture. We even got to see a traditional NOLA funeral with the band and horse drawn hearse.

Jeremy was great - very pleasant and knowledgeable.

We all decided that 3 hours might be a bit long and would probably do a 2 hour one next time. But, I don't know how they would fit it all in otherwise.

We had an awesome time on this bike tour! It moved at an excellent pace, it was an amazing way to learn more about the history of New Orleans, and Eric was engaging, funny, and knowledgeable. At the end of the tour, Eric gave us great advice on finding a jazz venue for my under-21 daughter (Three Muses on Frenchmen St - we loved it!!). So glad we started our New Orleans trip with this tour!

Firstly, I’m really honored Eric shared my picture on the Flambeaux Tours Instagram! I was in Louisiana for business just outside of New Orleans, and decided to stay over an extra day so I could actually experience New Orleans. I found the bicycle tours through reviews and decided that it would be the best way to see the city with my limited time. I was right. It really was my favorite day and tour. The weather cooperated and after rain on the first two days of my work week, the Saturday in NOLA was beautiful and sunny. The brief stop at the City Park for Cafe du Monde was a welcome treat. Jeremy was great! I wish I had used more of my limited French as he is fluent. I can’t name one favorite part of the tour. The whole experience was my favorite. Merci beaucoup!!!

This is a great tour to see more of New Orleans than just the French Quarter or Garden District. We saw multiple neighborhoods where people actually live and some other entertainment areas beyond Bourbon Street. Out guide Jeremy was extreme knowledgeable, particularly about history of the area. The bikes worked well and the entire trip is as flat as could be so very easy for us as 65 year olds. The company office is also an easy walk from the French Quarter where we stayed. Highly recommend.

Our group of five friends loved this tour! Eric is such a nice guy, and he is incredibly knowledgeable about everything in the city from its history and folklore to its drainage systems and its burial customs. You will be amazed at all that you learn. Plus, he has the most charming way of starting a story, veering off to what you think might be a tangent, and then circling back to tie all the threads of his story together. We all loved listening to him. The bikes are comfortable, the route is totally flat and not strenuous, and it was just a great way to see the city.

An absolute must do in NOLA. Eric is an amazing historian, storyteller, and business owner. This was no Wikipedia history it was the narrative of this beautiful city told by a true native. The tour was worth every penny and then some! Cannot give it enough praise. If you want to truly experience the city and its wonderfully blended culture, do yourself a favor and book this tour. Eric ministers visitors and leaves you with a great appreciation for the streets you are walking on.

Eric was awesome! This bike ride was easily the most fun part of my trip to New Orleans. Eric will keep you laughing as he educates you about the history of his beloved city. If you’re in New Orleans and you want to experience a cool way to see the city and learn while doing so, you have to book a ride. You won’t regret it!
