We booked the Garden District walking tour shortly after a holiday weekend and it was just my wife and me. Katrina probably could have just cancelled, but she met us anyway and we walked the full two-hour tour. She is a wealth of knowledge and insight to details and history on some of the properties. She tried to answered all of dumb questions and had a good sense of humor. She didn't pretend she knew everything. Some things are just mysterious because that's how New Orleans is. We really enjoyed it and recommend it. It was a great value.

Let’s start with the awesome customer service on the booking side. We took our tour in January and the weather was forecasted to drop below freezing. The company (Katrina) reached out with a gentle offer to rebook and helped us find a good option.

Then off we went! My wife and my elderly beagle and I with our FABULOUS guide Will.

I’m a tour guide too so when I tell you he was great, I truly mean it. Not only did he understand the ebb and flow of a complex city history he also got the community he was in.

His knowledge of the types, styles and specific homes was so on point! He works in historic home preservation so his nuance was superb. Highly recommended

Thank you for choosing New Orleans Architecture Tours to brush up on your local architecture. We love getting local folks on tours because we can dive a little deeper with the history. It is also really fun to give new information to folks that live here because it fosters a new appreciation of "home". Will is our newest guide and I have to say he has hit the ground running. He has a background in contracting and is passionate about preservation. We are glad he has joined our team. Thank you so much for adding this excellent review!

Absolutely fantastic! Katrina was knowledgeable, charming and fun to be with. She has a deep historical understanding of New Orleans Architecture and she brings it to life. This is more than just looking at gorgeous homes our tour was a fascinating exploration of the time frames during which these beautiful homes evolved. Highly recommended. A must.

Thank you for taking the Garden District Tour with me and leaving this amazing review of your experience! We are so lucky to have a neighborhood that fully shows us a timeline of architecture, stretching from the 1830s to the 1950s that is basically intact. I wish we had a strip that contained all the houses in order that they were built, but I think with a little imagination, we can understand how the styles evolved.See you next time! :)

We ended up being the only ones on our tour & benefited from our private tour with Katrina. She made what could be dry information into an entertaining, yet educational tour of the Garden District & its architecture. We learned about the different styles of construction & their characteristic features. Katrina is clearly very knowledgeable & also clearly enjoys sharing her knowledge with others.

Thank you for taking the Garden District Tour with me. I am glad to hear that you had a great time on the tour. I am always striving for the balance of education and entertainment. Yeah, architecture could be dry and stuffy but if you keep in mind that behind all of our houses are the stories of people that built them and lived in them and loved them, architecture can get real interesting real quick. Thank you for leaving this wonderful review. :)

We took this architectural tour of the Garden District on a beautiful February morning. There were only five of us, so Karen, the guide was able to really answer our questions and bring up things that she knew were interested in. Karen is very knowledgeable, pleasant and funny. It was great to learn about the architecture. The homes have plaques that give the history. Karen explains the architecture part as well.

Thank you for choosing New Orleans Architecture Tours to learn more about the Garden District! Karen is an expert guide and relays her information in such a fascinating manner. We like to keep our tours on the smaller side to allow for a format that includes more discussion and less lecturing. We love answering our guests' questions! We appreciate you sharing your experience here on TripAdvisor!

Katrina was extremely professional and responsive in checking in about my inquiry into a last-minute tour one day, and she sent a reminder e-mail and text before the tour I eventually signed up for.

This tour gave me a great grounding in the Garden District. Katrina thoughtfully plotted out our tour's path in terms of locations and information shared. She made sure to give both general and specific contexts, and she graciously answered questions all along the way. It is clear that while she already knows a great deal about New Orleans and its architecture, she is always pushing herself to keep reading, connecting with people, and growing. I am sure that she continuously updates her approach to incorporate new knowledge and ideas.

The tour is highly recommended for those who want to appreciate the district's architecture with lots of historical framing and insider know-how. Katrina lives in the district herself!

Thank you for taking the Garden District Tour with me! I am glad that you enjoyed the organization of the tour. I try to make sure that each house is used to present the neighborhood's various types and styles, and a few other little facts about that house specifically, in a manner that is both fun and factual. While I have a standard route for the Garden District tour, I find that each guest's interests and questions make every tour different, and fun for me! I am always adding new little bits of info as I learn it. :) I appreciate you leaving this wonderful recommendation on TripAdvisor. See you next time!

We chose this tour out of a desire for more substance vs. gimmicks and because of it's close partnership with the New Orleans Architectural Foundation (be sure to check out their site). Our guide, Katrina, was extremely knowledgable, engaging and fun - addressing many obscure questions from our group with great depth and obvious expertise in architecture and the history of the city. It was terrific to have such immersive conversations as we toured the area. I can't recommend this tour group highly enough - it far surpassed many of the cheesy, gimmicky tourist groups we encountered and overheard throughout our stay in New Orleans. In general, we've found that searching for walking tours affiliated with local architectural and heritage foundations in cities to be a great way to participate in more insightful tours with truly qualified guides.

Thank you for taking the Garden District Tour with us! We are humbled that we have been chosen to partner with the New Orleans Architecture Foundation as we love the work that they are doing to foster appreciation for our built landscape. It cannot be stated enough how lucky New Orleans is to have such a diverse collection of unique buildings that tell the history of the city - through various regimes, disasters, aesthetic shifts etc. Thank you so much for this detailed and well thought out recommendation. We hope you will join us again on your next visit!

Learning about the architecture was great! Seeing several celebrities' homes made it all the more sweet.

Our guide, Katrina, was very knowledgeable, personable & real. Especially entertaining were the anecdotes & jokes she interjected here and there.

For probably 3/4 of the tour it was raining, and sometimes quite hard, but she adapted well by leading us underneath a . I would not have considered quitting the tour for the rain. That's how good it was!

This area of town is absolutely beautiful, too!

Thanks for taking the Garden District Tour with me, despite all the rain! You never know what the weather is going to be like, so we have to be flexible and always carry an umbrella! During your tour, we were lucky enough to have the heavy rain arrive when we were close to Commander's Palace so we could seek shelter under their awnings. (Sometimes, I haven't been so lucky!) I appreciate you leaving this excellent review on TripAdvisor so folks know how your tour went. Enjoy the rest of your stay!
