Great Tour of the French Quarter
Thanks to Yvonne we had a fantastic tour of the French Quarter. Her historical knowledge of the area gave the group a real sense of what the French Quarter was like in the early years and even right up to the current day Her commentary was entertaining. Yvonne also gave useful tips on where to eat and suggestions for other activities.

I wish I could say I enjoyed this tour but I wish we had done it on our own with a guide book to avoid all the long stories. Sorry. Also history of New Orleans includes recent history, Katrina was not mentioned.

    Great and fun tour
What an excellent tour, one of the best we have been on. Lesley did a great job of giving us the background and history of New Orleans. Many interesting stories and facts shared in a fun and casual way. Made sure everyone could hear, answered all our questions and made sure we found shade on the hot day. I highly recommend.

    Great History and Beautiful Sights
We had a great time! Our tour guide Yvonne was very friendly and knowledgeable. We learned so much about New Orleans that we would have never learned without having done a lot of research ourselves.

    Terrific guide!
Peak was an amazing guide. She was knowledgeable and entertaining, provided answers to questions as they arose and shared many interesting stories about the culture, traditions and history of the French quarter. We highly recommend you choose to explore and learn about the French Quarter with Peak or one of her colleagues. Of note the group was 11 people (30 + signed up but they had 3 guides so everyone was in a small group

Definitely Recommended Adding This to Your New Orleans Itinerary!
We had a great time. Our guide was kind, had great energy and was well informed on the interesting history of the homes and people of the French Quarter. I learned many things I never would have even thought to ask about the beautiful historical architecture. The 2 hours flew. Great group activity for our friends. We all recommend! Happy we did it for sure.

    Fun and educational
We had Libby for our tour guide and she was awesome! There were a total of 8 people in our group so it was nice keeping it small..Libby started off asking any specific we wanted to see so she could include it in our tour. It was 2 hrs long. Not a lot of walking long distance but a lot of standing. Libby was so fun with her storytelling. She didn't get spout facts. We all really enjoyed her style making everything interesting. I'd definitely recommend this tour for anyone interested in learning about the history of New Orleans and the French Quarter.

    Absolutely perfect
Libby was absolutely awesome. I took tours from different companies on my trip to New Orleans, including a French Quarter tour and a Garden District tour. However, the ghost stories and true crime walking tour by Libby was by far the best. It started off great because we were supposed to be more (I think 6?), but the others cancelled. So it was only the two of us and Libby. Almost like a private tour. Worth noting that all the other tour groups we saw that night were about 8-16 people. Libby's story-telling is very engaging, informative, and really helps the imagination along. I chose this because I couldn't choose between true crime and ghost stories, and this was a perfect blend of both. Truly enjoyed myself.

Great stories and history of New Orleans
Fun little walking tour. It doesn't cover a lot of ground so not to worry if you're concerned about that. The histrory and stories were great. Shout out to our guide Yvonne !

We (3) met Josh, our tour guide, and the three other people that would be on our tour at the Gracious bakery. The first thing Josh warned us about were the uneven sidewalks and he wasn't kidding! Our first stop was a short history lesson in which Josh explained how the Garden District came to be. We then stopped by the Lafayette Cemetery where Josh explained how the cemeteries and the burial process works. He also showed us a picture of a tomb with a for sale on it! He told us that tombs cannot be sold with bones still inside. We then went on our house tour. We stopped by homes that were historically important and Josh told us stories about the houses and their owners. We stopped by houses that were architecturally important and Josh explained the features of the homes. We also viewed homes that were "haunted", owned by "famous" people, and homes that we just beautiful to look at. We learned about housing prices, renovations, and the costs of maintaining such large homes. The time flew by and we were sorry that the tour had come to an end. Josh managed to keep everyone's interest and was a wealth of information!

Thank you for this excellent rating and wonderful summary of your tour with the marvelous Mr. Josh! The Garden District offers so much - sights, history, stories - and Josh is an absolute master at sharing it with his guests. You are really right about the sidewalks - they are treacherous! However, it makes everyone slow their pace so they can really take in the lush and gracious beauty and spirit of the neighborhood. I am so happy that you were entertained and learned on your tour, and I hope you come back and see us again. Libby

Yvonne, our tour guide, was a pro. From basic stuff like steering us to shady locations, being aware of the many other walking tours out there, reminding her group to use the restrooms, get drinks, look down and watch our steps on uneven pavement, all the way to a historical review of residential properties, area history and cemeteries. She covered so much information and had a real native's pride in her town. Peppering the phrase 'y'all' throughout her tour, it felt like having a great friend show us around. She really loves what she does - 10 years experience by the time we met her and no signs of slowing down. These are very reasonably priced tours - we also used Lucky Bean for a historical French Quarter walk which was also very good. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Also, with this particular area of New Orleans, you've GOT to have a tour guide otherwise it would just be a meaningless stroll around an old neighborhood.

This was a wonderful way to get to know New Orleans. We had an enjoyable walking tour, with lots of tidbits of information. Lots of historical info and lots of modern day facts as well. James was fun and kept us all engaged in conversation. Group size was small, so everyone could hear what James had to say.

Thanks for this review! The reviews are the best form of advertising, because they come from people who have toured with us and are read by people who are shopping for a great tour! James is really funny and likes the whole group to participate, so you can bet he will be listening to where you are from and what you are interested in when he gives a tour. Of course, the small group helps this along, and leads to a great experience and a deeper understanding of what New Orleans is all about. Gardens, tombs, gossip, architecture, American history, celebrities, taxidermy, and food - its all there! See y'all next time! Libby

Josh’s tour gave us a whole new perspective on our New Orleans visit! He gave us a passionate history of the city, filled with fun anecdotes and some lovely pictures thrown in. There was certainly a lot of history in such a small part of the city. He was very engaging and knowledgeable and the two hours flew by before we even realized! Great tour, highly recommended and ask for Josh!

This is just the sort of observation that we dream of when we plan the type of tour we want to give our guests! We want to help people "get" New Orleans through storytelling and walking through the very special places in this city with a group[ that is small enough that we can answer questions and customize content to the interests of our visitors. Thank you for such a rewarding review! Josh is great at what he does and everyone that takes a tour with him loves him! Please come walk and learn with us again! Libby

There’s something about the charm of this city, and Josh’s passion for New Orleans really spoke to that. His knowledge and insight into the history of the neighborhood, the traditions of the city, and the architectural styles had us interested the entire time. Josh was able to customize the tour based on our interests, loved answering questions, joked with us, and was such a pleasure the entire time. If you’re able to take one tour in the Garden District during your visit, this tour with Josh is second to none.

Thank you for this glowing review! New Orleans has a very special spirit, and a great guide like Josh picks the stories, pictures, and sites that allow his lucky guests to see what makes this place magical. The French Quarter is color, noise, and action, but among the pastel-colored mansions, arching live oak branches, and lush lawns of the Garden District, visitors can learn how New Orleans grew and arrived as a major player in American history. And at the same time, a great guide like Josh can show you how New Orleans is unlike any other American city. Thank you for taking the time to review your tour. Your recommendation will surely provide us more opportunities to show people what makes this place so special. Please come again! Libby

We met at a lovely bakery with the most delicious croissant and cafe au lait! Our tour guide Jackie was fantastic! Our group was only 6 of us and it really made the experience even more memorable. Jackie is a wealth of knowledge - not only providing us with historical and architectural details of the many homes we encountered, but gave her own stories as well that locals have shared with her. Jackie was well-spoken and truly passionate about the tour and making sure we were informed. We could hear her well and she answered all of our questions. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this tour with Jackie! She is AWESOME!!!

We agree that Jackie is a phenomenal guide and a great storyteller! Thank you so much for taking the time to review your Garden District tour with her. While it is not necessary to be from here to be a great tour guide, locals like Jackie have in innate understanding of the culture of New Orleans that really enhances her tours. Plus, she can answer ALL your questions! I am so happy that you had a memorable experience, and I hope you come walk and talk with us again. Libby

This was a great tour! Our tour guide Renee was fabulous, and we were the only people on the tour! She said that groups are intentionally kept small for these tours, which was a big plus for us. The guide was extremely knowledgeable, and was able to answer every question we had. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone even remotely interested in history or building design (or anyone else, for that matter).

Great review! Thank you so much for taking the time to write it. Renee brings deep local roots, a mountain of knowledge, humor, and professionalism, and Lucky Bean provides a small-group model where she can really shine! Small groups (12 or fewer) means that questions can be asked and answered, interests addressed, and we can adjust the pace and the route to maximize engagement and comfort. I am glad you loved your Garden District tour, and I hope the magic of New Orleans lures you back to walk with us again! Libby

Did the walking tour through the garden district the day we arrived in New Orleans. Josh was a great guide, and blended early history of the city, architectural observation, and local color.

Homes are beautiful, and the neighborhood is much quieter and more serene than the French quarter.

Highly recommend.

Thank you for taking the time to leave this great review and highlight something every visitor to New Orleans should know - there is a beautiful, serene, lush and elegant neighborhood in Uptown New Orleans that is just as full of history, culture, and stories as the more well-known ones! I am so happy that you chose Lucky Bean to help you get to know New Orleans and I hope you will return - the amazing Josh does French Quarter tours, too! Libby

Josh was an excellent tour guide! He’s from Europe so his accent made it feel like a cooler experience. He has a masters in history which also makes him very credible. He kept us at a great pace so that everyone could keep up. He’s a great storyteller! Even with the many many blocks in the Garden District that we didn’t walk, I feel like we did not miss anything because he was able to share so many stories. He was also able to answer all of our questions without hesitation because he is so knowledgeable!

We toured the Garden District despite a downpour, and enjoyed every minute! Josh was a very knowledgeable and entertaining tour guide. He is an expert on New Orleans history and tells stories with pride and awe. It’s clear he loves his city and is excited to tell others about the complex history and current happenings. We enjoyed the tour so much, we signed up for a French Quarter tour with Josh the next day!
