- mdogj0 contributionsLoved Every Minute of It!We have been to NOLA many times in the last 40 years and have never done a carriage tour. We finally did and it was so worth it! We had Jonathan and his partner Ginger. We loved that he took the time to tell us about himself and Ginger. We got the best and most complete history of the French Quarter that we have ever had. He made it so much fun and personalized it to us and the other family. He also made sure that everyone could hear him without shouting at us. We would definitely recommend Royal Carriages!Written September 22, 2024

- Anthony H0 contributionsNOLA RevisitedI would highly recommend The History & Haunts Tour as a great, leisurely way to explore and learn a litlle of the French Quarter. Historical information interwoven with notable people made for a fun and interesting evening. Our gracious host, Tricia provided the commentary throughout the evening while our mule, Desire was a character during the tour. We made reservations in advance and were blessed with no rain during our tour. There had been intermittent heavy downpour and steady showers for 4-5 hours prior tour.Written September 4, 2024

We enjoyed our tour guide Jonathan so much. He was very knowledgeable and articulate. The clippity clop of the mules hooves as we rode down the streets illuminated by the flickering of the gas lamps was an amazing experience i will never forget. Whether you enjoy ghost stories or hearing the history of an old and great city, I would highly recommend this tour. We were very impressed at how kind and gentle Jonathan was dealing with our mule Beignet.

We loved our nighttime carriage ride filled with historical anecdotes, our guide Matt was fun, professional, and gave a personal touch to the experience. Throughout our stay, my hubby would often reference Matt's stories when we passed certain buildings from that ride. We recommend booking on your first night there. Also, its nice to know the mules are well taken care of, look beautiful.

Thank you, Jenny, for this very thoughtful and kind review! Matt appreciates all the considerate words written about him and truly loves his job as a guide. His love for the city is evident on every tour.
We have a deep love for our mule family and we are always grateful when our guests notice.

We loved the Royal Carriages Haunted History tour. Our guide was Shannon and the mule was Footloose, and they provided history, ghost stories, and humor throughout the journey. Shannon was incredibly personable, answering questions about the area, educating us about the mules, and navigating the carriage with ease. We did several different Royal Carriage tours and this was our favorite ride!

The carriage left from Jackson Square on time. Our guide had a great growl to his voice that gave the subject matter some added nuance. Lots of other walking tours along the way are a bit of a distraction but there is no way to avoid that during Mardi Gras. Good time.

I booked this tour for my family of four including a 12 year old son and 10 year old daughter. It was a very rainy evening, so we had the whole carriage to ourselves. Our guide was great! He asked how scary we wanted it and got it just right for a 10 year old at night. We went passed all of the important haunted locations and got to hear about their stories. One note, you should check the route ahead of time to make sure that your hotel isn’t one of the haunted locations if your crew scares easily - it’s basically the area northeast of Jackson square. I would recommend this tour over a walking tour as it feels a little safer from the spirits to be in a carriage. In all, we enjoyed it and were sufficiently spooked.

Sarah(tour guide) and Blondie(mule) were absolutely the treat we were looking for in a ghost tour. After having walked all day in NOLA, you cannot go wrong with a carriage ride!
I took my 11 year old son and Sarah’s ability to communicate loudly and clearly plus story-telling just held his attention the entire time. We saw parts of New Orleans and learned history and fun facts- all while getting the chills from the ghost stories and ambiance!
We absolutely loved it- book this tour, it is a great way to sit back and relax and enjoy the supernatural element of New Orleans.
Thanks Sarah!!! (We also have a new respect for bikes lol)

This carriage ride was phenomenal! We went at night and I loved being able to see other pets of New Orleans that I may have not walked to from my hotel since it would have been out of the way. I absolutely loved our guide. I apologize but I forgot her name. She had blonde hair that was sort of long. She was fantastic and had a nice speaking voice. It is not a scary tour, but some information you will hear will give you the chills after you learn about them. It was so informative and even my boyfriend enjoyed it and it’s hard to please him with tours! He rather us do things on our own. I tipped the driver and would recommend that you bring cash for tipping especially if you have a very knowledgeable and informative guide like we did. I did not see many people at all tip her from my tour. It’s a shame

Our tour guide was spectacular and she did an amazing job of giving us some interesting fun facts about the city. It was great not having to walk to each destination and relax on the carriage. Only thing I would recommend is to not go so late at night when other passengers may be inebriated and loud.

My girlfriend and I truly enjoyed our haunted carriage ride tour. Let me preface this by stating that Shannon and Footloose really made our experience unique and special. Shannon had great humor and insight. He showed us around and gave us really interesting information on special landmarks within the French quarter and was super knowledgable. I’d highly recommend this to anyone interested in some of the haunted establishments. Dress warm or take some drinks if you’re going during the winter!

We had a great late Ghost Carriage Ride through the French Quarter. Our guide Adrian was fun and knowledgable, and his mule, Moon, was awesome. They were able to put us all together even though we had separate reservations, which we appreciated! However, because they are busy, if you book on different reservations but want to ride together, I recommend calling and letting them know as they are just grouping people together to fill the carriages. This was a great way to do the tour after several long days of walking!
