About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- etkt20160 contributionsBeautiful tour but lacking a complete narrativeOur guide showed us many beautiful homes and areas in New Orleans. He provided many interesting tidbits about the culture and history of New Orleans. The mansions are truly stunning. However, we could not escape the feeling that we were seeing only the experience of the privileged white class of New Orleans. There was never acknowledgement of the experiences of enslaved people who created the fortunes of these mansion builders nor any acknowledgement of the challenges faced by those less fortunate in the city. It was a very white-washed experience that left us feeling sad and angry.Written March 3, 2024
- morgan s0 contributionsCancel your other tours and do this one. You will get to experience everything out of the french quarter that you can think of wThis was such a great tour! I feel like we learned more about Hurricane Katrina than the news ever talked about. He explained life after the storm and what it took to recover. Also, what's been done post, Katrina. He explains everything so well that it really gives you an up close view of the biggest natural disaster in United States history. Save your money on other tours. This guy will knock all those off in one custom experience. You go for Katrina education and leave with an upclose view of it all, but you also get to see the most beautiful cemetery (because his family is actually in there..true local!) the garden district and so much more! This tour is worth every penny! 10/10 recommend you booking now so you can catch him on your next vacation!Written December 3, 2023

- micheleeP5699DD0 contributionsFell in Love with NOLA through this tour!Dominick was a fantastic tour guide- a true Southern gentleman so proud and knowledgeable about NOLA. Having never taken a private dining tour, I was unsure what to expect. Dominick selected two restaurants(Tableau and The Napolean House) and advised us to selections. All his food recommendations were first-rate, and he even encouraged me ( not typically brave when trying new things) to get out of my comfort zone! I found myself eating seafood, which I always shy away from, and alligator! I cannot speak highly enough of this experience and only wish it had been my first tour instead of one of the last so I could have asked for other restaurant recommendations. Dominick shares his love of NOLA with you and you find yourself just wanting to walk the city with him to hear his stories. I 100% recommend it- you will not be disappointed!Written December 12, 2022
- cynthiamS3327MC0 contributionsSpectacular TourDominick was spectacular! His knowledge of New Orleans is impressive. He is very informative, welcomes all questions, drives safely and we were very comfortable not only in the vehicle but with Dominick in general. He has prepared a lengthy tour full of history and fun. We had the best time, well worth the money and highly recommend this tour!Written October 9, 2022
- sdannybee0 contributionsDominick is the perfect tour guideWe had Dominick as our tour guide. It was a wonderful tour and he is so knowledgeable about the history or New Orleans. He tells an amazing story about how every came to be what it is today. I highly recommend the tour to anyone coming down to New Orleans. Thank you, Dominick!!Written April 13, 2022
- Meander4309730 contributionsCity and swamp tourDominick was our guide, he took us for a drive around the city of New Orleans and then to a swamp tour. He was pleasant, explained things very well and had pictures to help with his explanations. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire city drive tour. Then we were able to see the suburb’s and country as we took the highway out of the city to the swamp tour. The tour guide on the river boat was informative, we saw a lot of wildlife including alligators. It was a lovely day and we felt that we got more than our moneys worth for a full day of entertainment and education.Written April 3, 2022

- SandFlogger0 contributionsNew Orleans Done Right!Dominick provided us an EXCEPTIONAL discovery of New Orleans and the New Orleans area over 2 days. He is extremely knowledgeable in the history, architecture and the before and after of Katrina. Dominick picked us up at the river boat landing where we disembarked from the Queen of the Mississippi and took us to our hotel, 2 full days of touring including the French Quarter, Bourbon Street, the City in General, Destrehan Plantation, a couple short Jazz performances, the best restaurants ever and then took us to the airport for our departure. Simply a wonderful experience that we cannot stop talking about. Of course it is in the guide: Dominick Musso is FANTASTIC!!Written May 30, 2021
- stoneathan0 contributionsMemorable and Engaging!Dominick is extremely informative and did a great job keeping our young children engaged! He was prompt in picking us up from our home, and willing to work with us to tailor the tour to our young children. It is apparent from the moment you meet him, that the next 7-8 hours were money well spent!Written March 26, 2021
- dan-j-f20110 contributionsHighly Recommend a Tour with Dominick!Family of four with two teens. French Quarter tour on Dec 20, 2020 with Dominick Musso. Masks and social distancing were the norm still due to COVID, but that did not hinder our tour in any way. Dominick was an absolute wealth of knowledge and a true professional. It's clear he love New Orleans and its rich history. We spent ~3 hours walking and stopping to learn all about the French Quarter. HIGHLY recommend booking Dominick! A tour with him makes a walk around the city much more informed and enjoyable. So thrilled we decided to book with him and take a tour of the city. Hope COVID is under control sooner than later and tourism can return to the city with gusto.Written December 24, 2020

What a truly awesome day we had with Dominic. Two brilliant and very different plantations and detours to show us the Garden District and different parts of the surrounding areas. Lovely lunch too. Dominic is hugely knowledgeable, genial and great company, my husband left his phone in the van and Dominic brought it to our restaurant in the evening! Above and beyond! Thank you, hope to see you again some day!

Dominick is one of the most knowledgeable guides I have used from trips all over the world. On our drive to Live Oak Plantation, we asked Dominick so many questions and all were answered with more than just the standard answer. The same was true on the return. We covered not only the topic of plantations but also the changes since Katrina in land and water management as well as education and housing. We will be back in August and will take the Katrina Tour for sure!

Thanks for taking the time to submit s review. It was a pleasure to tour with you. Your many questions made it a better tour, for I believe an open discussion is far better than a scripted narration. I am glad you found the information interesting; I believe it will stay with you for a long time. Hope to see you again. Dominick

Hank is a great guide and I am glad that you were flexible enough to have Hank fill for me while I was otherwise occupied.
I know Hank was a wealth of information and invited an open discussion rather than a one-sided narration. Thanks for selecting New Orleans Private Tours as your tour company and Hank as your guide. We hope to see you again. Dominick

Oh! Our group of five spent a day with Dominick. We handed him our hope to see plantations and a warning that we would have two 12 year-old with us. We left all details up to him. I'm ready to hand him all my money and let him organize my life.
Casually communicative with a wealth of knowledge, we were at ease immediately. He talked Yugioh with the kids AND had them fascinated with the industry and sociology of the sugar plantations. He had stories of people and places throughout time, and a love of Louisiana history. Obviously, too, he has created good relationships with the employees and volunteers everywhere we went. Altogether, we felt cared for, treated, and brought into his world rather than being part of an tour group looking in from the outside.
Rather than a canned tour on a tight timeline we were blessed with a day of slowing down, absorbing so much new information, being showing the rough and the beautiful. We walked away feeling like favorite family. Best advice: slow down, chew your food, enjoy the ride. For all the depth and care Dominick provides, your dollar couldn't go farther. Just go on, give him your time and your money. He'll be my FIRST call fo my next trip to New Orleans.

You all were fun to be with and I hope New Orleans had its best face on for you. And it was kind of you to notice that we have good working relationships all over the region and those relationships help us serve visitors. Hopefully too you learned something about our history and have a new appreciation for New Orleans in general. I hope to see you again. Thanks,
Dominick

Four of us went on the Plantation Driving Tour with Dominick. It was a truly delightful and interesting day. He is extremely knowledgeable about all things New Orleans, and a very pleasant guy to spend the day with, to boot. We all learned something new from Dominick in the course of the day, and had a fabulous lunch with him as well. We highly recommend Dominick's services, and we will definitely contact him again if we return to New Orleans.

We spent a very worthwhile day with Dom Musso touring two of the riverfront Plantations within driving distance of New Orleans. He is well informed in the way that only a highly intelligent native can be, and he shares his knowledge freely in the most pleasant, non-pushy way. Really all you could hope for in a tour guide (he's a good driver and luncheon companion as well!)
We've been coming to New Orleans every couple of years for a while now, and look forward to incorporating one of Dom's tours in our next visit, too!

Can the vehicle and the tours be made handicapped accessible? No steps? A car or small suv, not a van or large suv? Thank you
