          Informative and fun
This was just what we hoped from the trip. The pick up from the hotel was convenient and the bayou was fascinating for us coming from all the way from Finland to see. Listening to Captain Jason was a real treat and we learned a lot. And got to see some gators! I think this tour is a must for anyone coming from further away.

          Great with some exceptions!
Plantation and Airboat was fantastic! The transportation company was a different story. The first driver pulls up and was rushing my mom to get on and wasn't friendly in any way. Gary The second driver to the event was fantastic! He was funny, informative and overall very friendly with excellent customer service. Now....the trip back...hot mess....no communication, drivers if they were not taking you were rude or dismissive and I especially felt bad for guests who didn't speak English. The driver did not take us back to our hotel like we paid, he made it convenient for him and dropped us off blocks before our hotel. Its an 8 hour event, some folks are older. It would be in their best interest to fulfill what we paid for... $150 each is alot... Overall great but the company transporting needs some help. Thanks

          Worth the money.
This is a great choice for a swamp tour. The guides are entertaining and knowledgeable. The fan boat is the way to go if you want to see nature and the different zones of the swamp.

A great way to spend a day!
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour day! We were picked up and dropped off at our hotel which was very convenient. There is lots of distance driving for this tour. Thankfully, our driver Donna was a peach making g the trek pleasant. The bus was large and d well air conditioned, Although not an official guide, she was a wealth of information. She described the layout of NOLA, pointed out landmarks, explained the ecology and its challenges, and provided insight into the lifestyle of the people of the area. She was helpful and pleasant. The Oak Alley Plantation tour was interesting in that it had replicas of the slave houses and provided an insight into what slave day to day life was like. The landscape was gorgeous with its massive oak trees. The tour of the plantation mansion was informative and the guide was very knowledgeable. It did seem to lack somehow. Maybe that there really wasn’t that much to see that was authentic. The slave houses were replicas. The detached kitchen was no longer there. The juvenile house was no longer there. There were only two or three rooms in the mansion to see and most were not original furnishings, etc. I guess I thought there would be more. Still worth the visit though. The swamp tour was surprisingly the highlight of our day. Our guide (can’t remember his name) was awesome. He grew up in the swamps. He was extremely informative and interesting, He is fearless. He is like the Dr Doolittle of Alligators. I thought we might see one alligator. I think we saw at least 10. They came right up to our boat. We got to hold a baby alligator. This is mother my type of thing to do but thought my husband would like it, but I was pleasantly surprised. The whole experience was very cool!!’ Highly recommend!

It was an amazing experience... like an educational roller coaster with alligators! But seriously, it was the highlight of our visit to NOLA and I cannot recommend it enough.

          Fun In the Swamp
In a word: Dewey! He was fantastic! He knows his stuff...and does a great job of imparting that information to us Too often, your guides all over just follow a boring script and just walk through the motions. Not Dewey. Truly made us (the guests) feel welcome and important. Answered all questions to the best of his abilities... I threatened to take off a star for his "Bayou-Self" joke, but I couldn't. He was just too nice, too good and very engaging If you are in the NoLa Area, absolutely spend the time and money to take this swamp tour!! We will come back!!

          The Lemur visiting the swamp
It was my first trip to New Orleans, as such you have to take a swamp tour. Booking and setting up the pick up was easy. The actual airboat tour it self was a blast. Since I was a solo traveler I was able to sit up top with our guide. I can’t say enough good things about our guide. First being a solo traveler he let me sit up top which was awesome. Secondly he was able to communicate via hand gestures. I was to see some gators before the others. He also when saw me doing a video let me know he was going to slide the boat which made for a fun time and video. I think he knew I was happy by the grin on my face. His knowledge was impressive as was his work In ecology. The feeding of the gators with marshmallows and then taping boppy nose was fun but nerve racking. His info on the area was eye opening. This tour not only let me take an air boat tour and see gators but learn about what’s happening.

Fast, exhilarating and informative - Ian made it superb.
Spectacular tour of the Louisiana swamp-land by air boat. Exciting, informative and well executed. Ian was our guide/boat driver and was articulate, full of information about the lands and environment and alligators. He made the tour “fly” by (and words and air boating) and was attentive to our desires and needs. We (grandparents) took our 18 year old high school senior for an early graduation trip - and this was a highlight for all of us aged 18 to 80. Highly recommended.

Good overall, but be prepared for some craziness!
Darren, the driver on the city tour was the most amazing part of this trip! He was fun, engaging and so knowledgeable! His passion for NOLA and his job is contagious! The pick up from the hotel was a mess! Our instructions were to look for a bus that said Alert Transportation. The first driver told us to wait for a different bus. The next driver accepted us on but didn’t reference her list and it turned out we were on the wrong bus. We had to switch again and then we set out for the long, bumpy, scary drive to the plantation. The driver for this horrible. He drove SO FAST and carelessly—it was scary (he even ran through a stop sign)! On top of that, the roads were horribly bumpy and we felt like we had been in a two hour car accident by the end. To add insult to injury, the air conditioner started leaking water all over us due to the rough roads. Additionally, his paperwork was wrong and we were down for the swamp tour instead of the city tour, which meant yet another bus switch. The plantation tour was amazing overall but a little disappointing with only being 30 mins in the house. It seemed rushed and we didn’t get much information. Additionally, the groups were too big so you didn’t get time or space to really look at anything. The time outside the house was sufficient and the views were breathtaking! The history of this place is so interesting and the grounds were gorgeous. Overall, I would recommend the tour, but be prepared for the disorganization and rough ride!!

          Great experience!
The airboat tour was such a great experience and I will definitely recommend it to friends coming to New Orleans. It was so nice having the transportation as well. Kenny was awesome and hilarious! He was so knowledgeable about the swamp, the foliage and alligators. You could tell he had such a passion for his job! I loved seeing him feed the gators and getting to hold a baby alligator! Five stars for sure!!

          Highlight of my trip
We found this tour on TripAdvisor and picked it because of the fun pictures people had with alligators and the fact that they would pick you up from your hotel ! This was the highlight of our trip! The tour guide was really knowledgeable and let us ask many questions and stopped close to the alligators to show us them up close. It was beautiful! I will warn that it got quite chilly because we were going so fast on the water even though the weather was 70-75.

In our group , me and my husband (45) our teenage daughter (15) and my mom (84)

The Destrehan tour was mediocre. Docent knowledge was limited but history was decent. House portion had A/C. Swamp tour with Dewey was easily 5 out of 5 on the ratings he was so awesome, entertaining and very informative, loved this portion of the tour for the young and old.

Transportation was awful. Preferred Tours by Isabelle over Louisiana. They used Alert Transportation and the drivers said nothing the whole trip which was a bummer not to have a guide tell you stuff along the way. Van Buses we’re super noisy everything rattled. The day before the tour I informed Louisiana Tour Company that we were at a Vacasa property on Kererlec and asked if we needed to get to a nearby hotel for pick up. When I gave the address the lady on the phone put me on hold and came back and said no problem we can pick you up. Sure enough the next morning, right on schedule they arrived outside our door and we headed out. At the end of the tour we were the last dropped off but on Kererlec and Rampart. Wasn’t until we were off the Van bus and started walking that we realized we were a little over 3 blocks from our Vacasa property. No one told us we were being dropped away from the property. We proceeded to begin walking the correct direction. It was very hot, humid and uneven terrain, no sidewalk. Area not amazing but we had no alternative. After a couple blocks my Mom’s hip started hurting and we had to take some breaks. I felt concerned that the transportation company had in a matter of speaking left us stranded. I called the tour company to advise, mostly just felt they should know as these things effect ratings. All I expected was an apology for the inconvenience what I got was excuses and argument. Which in turn frustrated me further and ruined an otherwise decent day. They put me on hold twice , totally over 9 mins. Final result was the woman arguing with me about how many blocks and that the driver couldn’t drive on Kererlec. I advised I understood but why pick us up that morning or at least tell us before dropping us of the situation so we could plan. The woman on the phone was awful, customer service on her part ruined our day. We were hot and exhausted and hurting when we got to our Vacasa. I’m truly disappointed in her and feel that a simple explanation and apology for the inconvenience would have been worlds above the performance she provided. I recommend you book your own swamp tour with Dewey and use Tours by Isabelle for the rest. It is a little more pricey but the service with them is impeccable compared to the awful woman I spoke to and eventually hung up on as she was only making me angry and frustrated.

They are lucky Dewey on the swamp tour was AMAZING or the rating would have been a 1.

We are sorry about your experience. Your location was outside of our pick-up zone, but the driver did make the accommodation to pick you up the morning of your tour at your front door because it was convenient enough as traffic did allow him to do so since it was still early. On the return trip in the late afternoon, he did he best to drop you off as close as possible to your location, due to the afternoon traffic. We always try do our best to accommodate our guests and that was the best that we could do since the home that you rented was far from our pick-up zone. The agent that you spoke to didn't have any control over the situation. She did offer for a manager to call you back, but you decided to hang up the phone and opted to leave multiple bad reviews instead.

Both parts of the tour were fantastic! The plantation tour guide was very articulate and extremely well informed about the multi-generational early history of the home, as well as its more recent history. Our swamp boat tour guide provided everything one could ask for: safety, information about the ecosystem there, EXTREMELY funny, and man o man did we see alligators!

Guide was informative about the families and how the house was built. It was a rainy day but the people who work there know their history. Kiddos to the worker in the gift shop who could answer my question about the land ownership after the Civil war!

Recently went on a combo tour with Louisiana Tour Company and it was great! The plantation was just ok but the airboat portion was exceptional. We chose to ride the smallest airboat and it was worth every penny. Rocky was our guide for the afternoon and he did an exceptional job! He was very knowledgeable and eager to answer any questions that we had. We had the opportunity to see several alligators up close including a very large one that we were able to touch. Well worth the money!

When we were trying to decide which plantation to visit, we chose Destrehan because Destrehan is one of the closest to New Orleans and the oldest and one of the most historic plantations in Louisiana. Located just off of the Mississippi river (approximately 15 minutes outside of Metarie), Destrehan was home to one of the 4 council members hand picked by Thomas Jefferson to aid in the acclimating of the French Louisiana residents into the United States just after the Louisiana purchase in 1803. The house tour is led by guides and they also discuss the history of slavery at the plantation. Destrehan was also where the trial of the famous slave revolt of 1811 took place. Very interesting and historic tour.

The swamp tour was the best! We didn’t do the airboat and I am glad we didn’t! We did the “casual” boat ride and where able to see tons of alligator from about 12 feet to babies! Came up to the boat! It was so awesome!! I highly recommended it!!!!!

Captain Ernie was a wealth of knowledge about alligators and the swamp land. I liked his candid demeanor and sense of humor. Great tour… we recommend it!!
