Overview
Spot gators, egrets, turtles, and other Louisiana wildlife on a boat tour of the Honey Island Swamp. Cruise through a mossy cypress forest while a wetland ecologist shares insight into this protected nature reserve and local Cajun fishing life. No need to rent a car to explore the bayou, as pickup and drop-off from your New Orleans downtown or French Quarter hotel is included.
What to Expect
After convenient pickup at your downtown or French Quarter hotel, leave the bustle of New Orleans behind and travel to the launch point on the West Pearl River, near the shores of Lake Pontchartrain. Board a covered swamp boat that provides protection from the hot Louisiana sun or from rain on stormy days, and make your way into the protected waters of the Honey Island Swamp.

Glide beneath hanging moss and cypress trees, as a wetlands ecologist guide shares info about this unique ecosystem, plus local legends of pirates, Bigfoot, and prehistoric creatures. Look out for swamp critters, such as otters, egrets, nutria, turtles, and alligators, during the cruise. You’ll also learn about Louisiana's important fishing industry and pass through a typical Cajun fishing village.

Very disappointed

Guide spent virtually the entire tour yucking it up with the young women, including tasteless jokes about being sure the goat you planned on milking had 2 udders so as not to annoy a male goat. This was a swamp tour so other than being...More

A beautiful day for a swamp tour

My husband and I were in New Orleans for a conference and decided to do a swamp tour to see some nature. Of course there's no guarantee we're going to see animals in their natural habitat but we were very fortunate. It was very sunny...More

To go or not to go

Upon getting to NOLA it was humid AF, and my boyfriend was complaining about having to go during the afternoon, even though I had been talking about it for days. The driver, Eugine picked us up and gave us a history tour, and pointed out...More

Yes... we were staying at an AirBNB and they came for us. I think you just need to tell them where you are staying and they will either stop for you or tell you the closest place they will stop. Best to do it on the phone.

I was going to do the same thing but in all honesty the tours book quickly. They run rain or shine and the boats are covered (not that I would want to tour in the rain...lol). My suggestion would be to check the Weather... More
