- N9814XRshelbyw0 contributionsWe had a great time!Earnie was our guide and he was amazing! He was very informative and knowledgeable about the area, the boats and the living things around! He was even able to educate our tour about the Spanish moss and sharks! He was confident in his skills driving his boat and was clearly well experienced. He gave us a really good experience and I would absolutely recommend this company, but definitely Earnie as a guide!Written September 8, 2024
- Sean L0 contributionsRelaxing, alligator experienceTransportation from Canal was fun, bus driver was very informative and funny. Swamp boat, covered pontoon, was comfortable with a nice breeze and cover, luckily no rain this time. Captain Ernie was a lot of fun, very knowledgeable and made it a great trip. Definitely recommend his boat.Written September 7, 2024
- Freedom056825855640 contributionsPerfect tour, fun airboatThe tour was wonderful and well organized. I really enjoyed with airboat trip. Especially, I would like to thank our captain Earnie. His lecture on gators was amazing. He is knowledgeable and entertaining.Written September 6, 2024
- Z5413TLcharlesp0 contributionsGators, fan boat drifting, incredible scenes, and so much knowledgeThis is by far a MUST DO when you go to New Orleans! Captain Ernie was amazing with exhilarating driving, lots of alligators, and so much knowledge! I’ve learned my lesson about wearing white around the gators and spreading the word not to ever feed them (unless it’s a marshmallow to get their attention in a nonresidential area 😁). My wife was so excited after this trip she had to give the captain a huge hug.Written September 5, 2024
- Trek96700 contributionsDon’t hesitate to book !Our tour guide was excellent . Very knowledgeable and tried really hard to find animals for us and keep us entertained despite the rainy weather. We originally booked the small group air boat tour but due to weather, they gave us the option to switch to a bigger boat with a roof. Thank goodness and they even gave us a partial refund . Definitely don’t hesitate to book them !!Written September 5, 2024

- W4753PZtomr0 contributionsAmazing tour and must do!Very good start to finish! Transportation was timely enough and picked us up from our hotel. Drive was 30ish mins to the site. Tour was very good and tour guide was amazing with knowledge and being able to coax the gators out for everyone to get a photo. There was a shop at the end to get memorabilia and other food options which we did not partake. Definitely a must do if your in the area! Shout out to Captain Dewey for all his expertise and for a guaranteed g good time!Written September 4, 2024

A really nice day. The bus driver on the way to the plantation gave a really interesting view of the causes and impacts of Katrina. The plantation tour was interesting and the airboat ride was fantastic. Captain Jason was awesome and definitely recommend the smaller boat because it can go into places that the larger boats cannot fit. Captain Jason was a wealth of knowledge and really provided a lot of context to the ecosystem - he was not just an alligator hunter (although we did see a number of them and that was cool).
Highly recommend.
Highly recommend.

My partner and I had a great time visiting the Plantation. Wes, our tour guide, was very informative and very good at chatting away. He knows his stuff. The lands surrounding the house are relaxing to stroll around and we never felt rushed. It was hot, but with a cool breeze, and so carrying our own water helped as you do a lot of strolling (because everything is so nice and well maintained). It's an extremely informative experience, learning about slavery on a plantation, and there is both no slamming of the owners or glorification of slavery, quite the opposite for the latter. The buildings the slaves lived in were recreated as well, with short and straight forward placards that give you simple info on how they lived and worked.
And then the swamp tour. We had Captain Jason and it was a small swamp boat, with 8 people. Jason gave a great background to the alligators and other creatures and the different types of waterways, swamps, bayous, oil company channels. Holding the baby alligator was good fun and we came away from it feeling really happy that it was the finale of our trip. I'd recommend carrying a packable rain jacket and pants, something to slip over if necessary as the rain can come in fast (it did with us). But when he puts his foot down, you'll drive off quickly enough. Absolute treat this, and we'd both recommend it to anyone!

Absolutely fabulous tour, well organized by professionals. Seamless execution. I would recommend this to anyone who visits New Orleans for a day out of the city into nature and history. Saw lots of alligators, birds, bayous. Great staff. Worth the money.

There was plenty of time to tour the grounds of Oak Alley on your own before and after the guided tour of the main house. The tour wasn’t long, but it was informative and it focused mostly on the family who originally built the house and the subsequent owners. The rooms in the house were small, some of which you could not enter but only view from the doorway, so I would have preferred if the group size for the tour time would have been less. There were 33 people, plus the guide, so we were packed into the hot rooms. With so many people, you couldn’t see everything and when you got to look, it felt rushed. Overall though, it was what I expected, so I wasn’t disappointed.
The small airboat swamp tour lead by Dewey was phenomenal. He was extremely knowledgeable about nature and the local wildlife. We saw water fowl, a tree owl, and multiple alligators up close, several of which came up to the boat looking for marshmallows. We got to hold a small alligator as Dewey explained alligator nesting and hatching. It was an amazing ride and experience. I would not change a thing.
Transportation was provided to and from the hotel, which was convenient, but expect a long day. 8:15 am departure to 5 pm return.

Our bus driver was very enthousiastic and gave us a very good overview of the specificities of New Orleans. Oak Alley is beautiful and worth seing. The tour of the mansion is quite expeditive but nonetheless interesting. The slaves quarters describe the life at the time and are quite revealing of their hardship. As for the small airboat tour, even if a bit more expensive than the large one, was really worth it. We saw aligators and many types of birds. I would definetely recommend this tour.

The two activities on the tour were both great, airboat ride was exhilarating, interesting and we were lucky enough to see alligators despite the cool weather and our boat captain was excellent. The plantation was interesting and nicely unrushed, lots of time to wander around. What wasn’t so good is the “tour” isn’t. It’s 2 excursions and a bus ride on a massive 30+ seater bus, not the max 9 people tour it’s made out to be. Very impersonal. I’ve done loads of 8-15 people tours (largely in the US and at lower cost annd better value) and they’re great as you tend to get loads of interaction. I am happy to pay extra for that experience (and at £140+ I expected that from this one!). Our bus driver literally said nothing apart from on pick up and drop off. No insights, info on New Orleans, history, nothing. The bus was also bone shatteringly spine-compacting on the main roads, especially near the back. So overall I still enjoyed the experience of the two excursions, but be clear what you’re buying here; 2 entry tickets and 3 bus rides with a large group, not a tour for 9.

Thank you for your feedback. You signed up for a combination Oak Alley Plantation and Small Airboat Tour. The "small" airboat is our 9 passenger airboat and that is the boat that your tour was conducted on. We also offer the large airboat which holds up to 16 passengers.

The airboat trip was really excellent - we saw so many gators close up being fed chicken necks and held a baby gator. Unforgettable and fun trip Would recommend the combination with Oak Valley - really good educational insight and a good stop for lunch too:) Our bus driver out from New Orleans had amazing tales of Katrina and was really entertaining. Hotel pick up and drop off and all ran like clockwork - this tour company has this trip exactly as you need it.

Both the Air Boat ride and the Plantation Tour where very worth the eight hours and the money. We did the smaller air boat and had a great time with our guide. He not only showed us the animal wildlife but gave us a rich history of the area.
One caution, it is an 1 hour and 15 minute ride between the boats, plantation and back to your hotel. Do not sit in the back of the bus if you get motion sickness or hate a bouncy ride. As well, our driver was very careless in his driving. He would drift in and out of lanes and ride the cars in front of him. Just beware that they probably do not vet their drivers as much as the tour guides.
This said, we really enjoyed the day.

Thank you for the positive feedback! We do apologize about the ride to and from the plantation. The roads are really not in the best shape, but that is the only route that we can take. We will further address the safety as well. Once again, we appreciate the feedback.

Four of us had a great time on this tour, we highly recommend the small air boat tour. Our guide Dewy was informative, engaging and funny. We saw Alligators up close, pet them and learned about them and their habitat. This tour is a must do in NOLA.

Great experience! I was apprehensive about spending money to tour a plantation, but I appreciated the humanization and storytelling of the slaves and families that lived there throughout history. We also did the smaller air boat swamp tour and had a great time with our guide!! He was born and raised in the area and was extremely passionate about the gators and dispelling the rumor that they are aggressive creatures! Both places were so beautiful - ENJOY!!
