My only issue was per the pics we were also supposed to see other animals or hold baby gators but we didn't experience that on our boat ride. Also, we had pretty loud people on our tour and they made it hard to hear our tour guide so it made the experience stressful. Jim is hands down the best tour guide you can get in New Orleans. He was funny, knowledgeable, and an absolute pleasure to spend the day with. This package is one of the best that money can buy in the city and is a must-do event if you are in the area and are looking to encapsulate the full NOLA experience in a day. We thought the journey between sites would feel long, but he made them some of the best moments of the trip as he shared his wealth of knowledge of the history of both the landscape and the people of this area. We can't wait to tell all our family and friends about the experience!

The overall tour was amazing and allowed an insight into life outside of New Orleans as well as the deep history into plantations. The two locations were super picturesque and we got amazing photos. Our tour guide was Jim and he was amazing at his job! He made sure to get everyone involved during the tour and was really informative about numerous historical topics. Kindrell, our bus driver, was great as well and provided us with safe transportation to and from the various sites. Overall, this duo made our trip even better, and I would highly recommend the experience to people who want to see another side of Louisiana without going too far out of the city.

Overall I was left disappointed with this trip. We went as a group of 4 adults, two couple in our 50's. The Plantation is okay, but not the sprawling country house I expected and the swamp tour was underwhelming. We saw probably about fifteen alligators about 3 foot long and six racoons. Other than that nothing, the guide just told stories and took us up and down the swamp.
I do want to say though that our overall tour Guide John and the individuals at the planatation who did the tour and the Swamp Boat captain were all excellent and informative.
My advice would be pick a bigger and better plantation and go on the Airboat.

This tour was amazing if anything I wish it would have been an hour longer. Not the bus ride that was pretty long but the guide and the bus driver tried to make it as fun and informative as possible. I went with my sister on a 4 day kid free husband free trip to New Orleans.
Oak Alley was absolutely stunning and is a must see if you are visiting New Orleans. The house tour was short but very informative and the grounds are just amazing! I wish we would have had an additional hour to explore the plantation. We ate lunch at the on site dinner which took an hour from our tour. However the food was amazing. We ordered the seafood au gratin appetizer and were tempted to cancel our food order and make the meal of the appetizer it was so good.
The swamp boat tour was awesome and our boat captain was hilarious. We saw lots of alligators, some raccoons, a few wild boar, and even one crock lol. We also held a baby alligator on the boat! They are still rebuilding after the hurricane so their gift shop and facilities leave a little to be desired but the tour and staff were great! I highly recommend this tour, there were no children on our bus but I think this tour would be great for ages 10+ between the walking the boat ride and the height requirements.

Wear sneakers or boots
Bring bag or backpack with a water bottle.
Do the 1st tour of the plantation house if you can.
You are not allowed to take pictures inside the plantation house.
Either pack a lunch, order only an appetizer,
or order something simple like a sandwich to go from the plantation restaurant if they will allow it. Do the gift shop while you wait on food then you can walk the whole plantation and still get a lunch.
Not all the boats have a restroom on them but both stops have restrooms available.

This was a fantastic way to spend the day and get out of the City on our New Orleans vacation. Jim was an excellent and informative tour guide and made the time on the bus pass quickly. The grounds at Oak Alley are beautiful and there are many great photo opportunities. The food in the restaurant was very good but be aware that it's a bit of a rush to do the house tour, the talk they give at the slave quarters, and have a sit down meal, but it is doable. The swamp tour was also fantastic. Captain Bishop was entertaining and we some somewhere around 20 alligators as well as herons, racoons and other wildlife. Just don't ask him about the duck nesting boxes. It's a sore spot and you'll get an ear full.

I booked this tour for my family of four including a 12 year old son and 10 year old daughter during the holiday break. Jim was an excellent tour guide keeping us engaged with witty history on the bus ride. The hour or so out to Oak Alley went by very quickly. The bus itself was clean and air conditioned and Latoya was a great driver. Once we arrived at Oak Alley, we had plenty of time to explore and eat lunch with take out from the onsite cafe. My 12 year old is a history buff so he enjoyed every plaque and guide. My 10 year old loved the landscape with the magnificent trees. Pictures don’t do it justice. We tried the adult and virgin mint juleps in the souvenir cups. They were very sweet but a nice experience. Use the bathrooms at the plantations as they are clean and convenient. Then we went off to swamp on a relatively short bus ride. We got Tom as our boat guide. He was as authentically Cajun as you can get and a fantastic guide. We saw many alligators of all sizes along with a few other bayou creatures. Their facilities were severely damaged by hurricane Ida so they no longer have a formal snack or souvenir shop. But we still had a great time. Their dedication to their habitat and the animals is admirable. Our favorite part was getting to hold an 18 month old alligator. I would recommend this tour to anyone looking to get a sense of Louisiana outside of the French Quarter. It hardly felt like 7.5 hours because it was so engaging.

It was nice to get out of the city and see another side to Louisiana. This tour checked all boxes! We met our Gray Line tour guide Early and bus driver Donald at the designated time and spot, then our group was loaded on a comfortable bus for the hour ride to the plantation. Along the way Early told about Louisiana history, geography, and fun stories. Donald was great about slowing down so we could get pictures of other plantations along the way to Oak Alley. When we arrived, we did the self guided tour of the slave quarters before our 11 a.m. tour time. It was very eye opening seeing first hand how the slaves lived and the treatment they received. We met Miss Jackie, our guide, at the mansion, and she gave an informative talk about the family who build the house, their history, and how they lived. She told the history the house, and how the foundation that supports it was set up. We were met with a decent rain show, so we weren’t able to spend as much time on the grounds as we would have liked, but the cafe/gift shop was cozy and welcoming.
From there it was a 45 minute ride to the swamp tour. When we arrived I was very underwhelmed- there was construction going on and the whole site looked a bit ‘sketchy’. But looks are deceiving!! ‘Captain’ Jerry loaded us all up in the flat bed boat and we were off. To say he’s a character is an understatement! With his Cajun accent, he told about history and his life on the swamp, his philosophy of life, and pointed out the flora and fauna along the way. The minute we pulled away from the dock, we saw alligators swimming up to us and swimming alongside the boat. Jerry seemed to be on a first name basis with most of them, so when he told about how much they were worth (skin, meat, etc) it was a bit surprising. He stopped about 1/2 way and in bare feet he stepped out on the side platform and immediately 12-15 alligators swam up for food. Jerry had them halfway out of the water! As we continued the tour, he kept up a running commentary about his experiences, and then it was close to a bank, where a HUGE family of raccoons approached. A bucket full of corn kept them close and everyone on the boat was instantly worried about alligator ‘living snack attack’. Jerry explained the raccoons eat the alligator eggs, the alligators eat the raccoons. A circle of life story you WON’T see on Disney!

Your reveiw was a great experience as well. Your story of the tour was delightful. Captain Jerry had lived his life in the swamps and know well the circle of life, and he appreciates all his animal neighbors and their part of the circle.

Jim (with one "M" was an amazing guide. He was friendly, knowledgable and entertaining. The ride from the city to the plantation and plantation to the swamp tour and back was just as entertaining as the actual tours, thanks to him.
Joe (with one "O") gave us a smooth and comfortable ride. I have never driven a bus, however, I was very impressed by his skill at navigating the challenging streets of New Orleans so easily.
The tours were so much fun. I loved getting to see the beautiful plantation buildings and gorgeous trees full of Spanish moss.
The baby alligator we got to hold on the swamp tour was icing on the cake!

Elizabeth is very down-to-earth and EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGEABLE! She made the bus ride to each place was filled with neat facts and information about the places we were going to. Of course, I can’t forget the amazing bus driver Dwayne. He got us all there safe and left the bus in with air conditioning when it was extremely hot.
Bishop on the swamp tour was WILD y’all! He had us rolling and laughing the entire time. I honestly can’t believe this guy is so chill when feeding 11 alligators at a time! If you want someone to do this tour, look for Bishop! That guy don’t mess around 😂!

We had a really top-notch experience with this Gray Line tour which left from the French Quarters in NOLA during Marti Gras. Tour guide Jim had a great personality, a great sense of humor, and was a wealth of knowledge. He made the time go by quickly. It was a welcome break from the city insanity - although it was a cold day, we were able to do everything on the trip. The plantation docent Mary was knowledgeable and entertaining - we learned a lot about the plantation and slave culture, and left there understanding a lot more about the Civil War history.
The swamp tour was equally amazing, with swamp boat captain Bishop being extremely entertaining. He knew every square inch of the swamp, and was apparently familiar with all the alligators. And there were plenty on this ride.
We would certainly recommend this tour to anyone.
The swamp tour was equally amazing, with swamp boat captain Bishop being extremely entertaining. He knew every square inch of the swamp, and was apparently familiar with all the alligators. And there were plenty on this ride.
We would certainly recommend this tour to anyone.

Do it again and explain what happened or call them. They were absolutely excellent help. The people answering the phones were great. They will definitely help you out and fix your problems.

Yes although it’s a short trip. You will also have the opportunity to handle small alligators and may miss wildlife if you are eating.

The bathroom on ours was not working. Both locations had bathrooms though and they gave us plenty of time to use them

Holding the alligator is optional, just follow directions if you do so. No harm comes to the animal.
