Tours by Isabelle - Whitney & Laura plantations
This tour is a must for anyone interested in plantation life in LA before the Civil War. Rene of Tour's by Isabelle was a fantastic guide, very friendly, full of knowledge, tips, jokes and lots of interesting facts about NOLA, not just the plantations. Very accommodating on pick up and drop off, I would highly recommend this tour!

See Plantations in a New Way
Our driver, Rene, was a wealth of knowledge as he drove us out to the plantations. We learned history and geography which gave us a framework for our plantation tours. Both plantation tours were excellent. I had seen other plantations about 10 years ago near Charleston and Savannah, but this was totally different. There is now a focus on the lives of the residents and their relationships. One plantation has an in-person guide. The second is recorded with detailed information about each part of plantation operation and the people. This was a fascinating experience and informed many of the other things we saw on our trip to New Orleans.

5 Stars and René is Awesome!
The tour of Laura and Whitney Plantations was amazing. I learned so much about the culture and complex history of the area. Our tour guide at Laura was incredibly knowledgeable and came from a French family that had lived in the area for generations. Our driver, Rene, was the best - so smart and entertaining - and was also a 5th generation Native of New Orleans. On the way to the plantations, he taught us SO much about the history of Louisiana, New Orleans, slavery, the geography, and even gave us tips on where to eat and see music in NOLA. I definitely recommend this tour!

Great small group tour - fantastic way to see New Orleans!
We took this small-group tour with Stephen. He picked us up on-time at our hotel, we stopped for one more guest at a nearby hotel, and then we had 4 hours of history, city sites, and weather/water information. It was a great overview of the city and it helped us a get a much better feel for the various neighborhoods. Stephen was a safe driver - this is a key tour requirement for us - and the van was spacious and comfortable. My particular focus is on weather and the Mississippi and I was able to get a lot of info from Stephen - which was much appreciated!

A visit to Sugar Cane plantations and slavery realities
The visits to both Whitney and Laura Plantations were very educational and helpful in understanding the cause and effects of the Louisiana Suger Cane slave Trade. Our guide Renee was super special.

          Wonderful tour!
Great tour. Gisèle was an amazing tour guide, good sense of humor and personable. I learned so much about Louisiana and new Orleans history I came away an expert of sorts myself haha! The air boat tour was fantastic, the smaller gators were out in large numbers, it is mating season after all! The larger ones weren’t around to be seen, probably still sleeping earlier in the day, but what we did see was more than satisfactory! The plantation was beautiful and learning about its history was fantastic! I highly recommend this tour for anyone! A lot of this is not taught in school but so important to learn! Thank you for the wonderful day and the wonderful learning opportunities!

          Not fully as advertised
I enjoyed the self-guided tour at Whitney and the guided tour at Laura. However, I was under the impression that we would be a small group all the way. Unfortunately, that was not so at Laura. The tour was provided by Laura Plantation and we were about 20+ in that group. However, I am disappointed in the fact that when I booked the tour, the description said "Pass in front of Evergreen, St Joseph, Felicity & Oak Alley Plantations". I emailed Isabelle before booking and she confirmed that we would pass by Oak Alley, and that we will stop at Evergreen Plantation to take photos. None of that happened. I don't think we passed St Joseph and Felicity either. I even asked the driver about it, but he said we're not going to Oak Alley, it's 4 miles away. That left me feeling disappointed. Basically this "tour" was more like a transport because I should've rented a car and could've done Whitney and Laura on my own and gotten the same experience.

          Great tour
Rene our tour guide, and native of new orleans, was a great source of local information. The city tour was an excellent way to get oriented as we started our tour of the Cresent city. The small coach was very comfortable. I've taken another tour with Isabelle on a prior visit and found the experience to be consistently great. Well worth it!!

          Best Tour in NOLA
My 18 year old daughter and I had an amazing time. Giselle picked us up promptly at the time indicated in front of our hotel. We were the last to join the group so by the time they got to our hotel, we went straight to the airboat tour. Giselle talk to us in route to our first stop about the history of New Orleans and did a wonderful job. She also told us places to visit if we had time later on in our trip as we drove by certain places like the World War II museum, which I had no idea there was one here in NOLA. The airboat ride was better than the one I had just recently done in Florida and I really like that. It was first thing in the morning because that’s when the alligators are out the most and we saw at least seven alligators. Giselle continued to provide us with additional history of this area enroute to the first and second plantations. Both of the plantations were beautiful and the tour guide for both of those locations did a wonderful job. The gardens at the second plantation were very impressive and lovely to walk-through. The gumbo at the restaurant was the best in Nola and this was in comparison to three other places we had eaten gumbo app so when I say it’s the best, it literally was the best! The buffet lunch was nice cuz we got to try everything. After the last plantation, Giselle drive us back and had more stories to share with us. All the information was very insightful. She used a headset to talk to us which was wired to the speakers for us to hear her perfectly in the back of the 15 passenger van. This tour was by far our favorite tour while we were here. It’s worth every penny and Isabelle and Giselle are such sweet ladies that they make the entire experience that much better, from booking the tour, having to reschedule it for six months down the road and then the actual tours, driving to and from, and during the tours.

Two fantastic activities in one trip.
Fantastic day out with our guide, John, who kept us entertained and informed about the local area as he drove us between our destinations. The swamp tour was great, with lots of alligator sightings, and even a snake and a turtle. Visit to Destrehan plantation was fascinating, thanks to the obvious passion of our plantation guide. All in all a highly recommended way to escape the city for a day.

Incredible tour of the beautiful Destrehan & Houmas House plantations
This tour exceeded all our expectations. Our tour guide,Ellen, was very friendly, & had incredibly interesting knowledge of area history, which she shared with us, on a very pleasant, scenic, drive from NOLA to the Destrehan & Houmas House Plantations. These plantations, & surrounding yards, are stunningly beautiful. Tours of the mansions, by docents in authentic period dress, were very interesting. Last but not least, lunch at Houmas house restaurant was great. For those of us who are mobility impaired, it would have been nice to have a few benches around, to sit down on briefly, during the hour long tours of homes. Frank M

DO NOT book this small group airboat ride through this company. Just go directly to Ragin' Cajun' Swamp tours and save yourself the $20.

We were not given a tour by Isabelle's company, but instead placed on a tour with Ragin' Cajun Swamp Tours. That would have been okay if we had not discovered we were charged an additional $19 per person more than everyone else on the same tour! When I reached out to Isabelle to ask why, I received no response.

Additionally, our boat driver was not a good tour guide. Gave very little information - we learned nothing about the preserve we were in, or the history of the area. Just some facts about the number of alligators and age a bald eagle gets white feathers, and some very offputting stories about him killing a man eating alligator (and showing us pictures of human body parts on his phone).

Thank you for your review, Allisun. Yes, you are correct, we do not own our own small airboats, but instead we partner with local Cajun Airboat owners. Other airboat rides with the same boat companies and from the same location are indeed cheaper when given on larger airboats. We are certainly going to have a serious talk with your captain about focusing his tour on interesting information about the wildlife and flora of the swamps! Thanks for helping us to make our tour better by pointing it out. I believe you did not have the correct phone number to reach out to us, as I ALWAYS answer very promptly myself EVERY phone call on 504 398 0365 which is the number on my website. Cordially, Isabelle C. Owner.

The good: Isabelle, Ellen, and our driver were each very responsive, kind, and a pleasure to work with setting everything up for the trip with my bachelor party. There was some confusion on my end and I thought we'd be able to be picked up outside of our Airbnb instead of one of the listed hotels. That wasn't a problem, Isabelle contacted me and was able to accommodate no problem! Likewise, one of my groomsmen had to change his flight and fly out early, and it was painless to reduce our reservation and get a partial refund for his seat. Ellen was kind and fun to talk too, and even with a group of hungover groomsmen, was bubbly and willing to give us all sorts of history tidbits about New Orleans! Finally I unfortunately don't remember our airboat driver's name, but he was amazing! Gave us a great tour, was fun to talk to and responsive to our questions, clearly enjoyed his job and made our tour fun even though we didn't get to see any big gators; hot out day so just got to see some baby's, which was still cool!

The bad: the listing said the max capacity of the boat was 9, so we initially thought we'd have a boat basically to ourselves (group of 8 minus the 1 person who had to drop out) but then we were put on a boat with about 5-6 other people. Don't get me wrong, totally minor, but thought I'd point that out.

The bigger grievance was another airboat operator nearly hit us gunning it full speed across a channel in the sawgrass. He was able to swerve and avoid us, but that could've been a disaster. I can recognize on airboats it's impossible to hear and it's hard to see through the sawgrass at times.... But our driver mentioned how they were in the process of putting flags above the fan to help other identify where we're at. That's definitely a no- brainer and I don't know what the hold up is to have them on each boat, or for the drivers to have a better idea of where each boat will be during the tour schedule.

All that aside, good outweighed the bad and I'd totally tour with them again! Highly recommend.

First time I traveled by myself so far from home in Missouri. Isabelle made the scheduling of this tour so easy. She texted me information and helped me set up the tour... kind of at the last minute. Reassured me that I could be picked up at the hotel and not drive. Although I have not met her, I can tell that she does this kind of work because she loves what she does. She called me the eve before to ensure I got her text of my pick up time.

A wonderful and fun experience. Well worth the money for this tour. Loren was not only extremely knowledgeable, but had a respect for the swamps and the animals. So informative and fun.

Gisele was a wonderful tour guide as well. She has a passion for the history of Louisiana. I learned so many interesting things. The historical knowledge along with her fun-loving attitude made the tour even more enjoyable.

I plan on returning for a full day tour and a night swamp tour next year. Sure hope I get Gisele and Loren as tour guides.

We had very comfortable air conditioned transportation from our hotel and the company owner made sure we had all the information for our bus since there were many tours coming and going from the major pick up sites. Our boat driver was so friendly and eager to answer our questions while making us feel safe while having fun. I would definitely recommend this company.

Billy was our tour guide and is very knowledgeable about Louisiana, New Orleans and sports. He also has a great sense of humor and fun to be around.

Derek our Airboat Tour Guide is very knowledgeable and patient. The Airboat ride was a key highlight during our 3 day trip to New Orleans.

Four of us took this trip, including me, my wife, and my two sons who are in their 20's.

Everyone had a great time and would go again. Both gentlemen are fantastic!!

We loved every minute of the tour! We all enjoyed our guide on the ride over & back to the hotel, Isabella is very knowledgeable about NOLA. The guide on the alligator tour was funny, very insightful and a hoot be around.

        I highly recommend this tour!!
