About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Imyourtallcool10 contributionsWorth it!We climbed to the top of the Clingmans Dome. We are in our 60's and believe me it wasn't easy, but we did it! The hike to the actual dome is paved, but it is quite the trek and fairly steep. There are plenty of places to stop and rest along the way. We used our trekking poles Make sure you take water. We arrived on a weekday around 10:00am in late October and were able to find a parking space. It was packed when we left with a long line to get in. Get there early! The views at the top were worth it!Written January 13, 2025
- G7287QOmb0 contributionsYou can see forever on a clear dayVery cool spot. If you’re in Gatlinburg on a hot day, like I was - it was 94, we came up to Clingmans Dome and it was 75. Awesome. Walked up the 1/4 mile paved path, it is steep. But there are benches to rest on if needed. Once up there, it was a beautiful clear day and you could see forever. I think you can see 7 states up there. Half way up I seen a big lake to the left. I was told that was Fontana dam and though it looked close, it’s like 25 miles away. The Dragons Tail is over there. So we drove over there next. Good times.Written December 12, 2024
- Mary Kay D0 contributionsGreat ExperienceWes was a great tour guide of the Smokey Mountains. He took us to view beautiful scenery and provided so much history about the park. This tour was well worth the money!Written December 8, 2024
- HARLETA N0 contributionsAsk for Shannon as your Guide!Shannon was friendly and made sure we get our money worth. I expressed that my mom is highly interested in Native American culture, she was visiting for the holiday from Indonesia so obviously she doesn’t know much. Shannon immediately point her to the actual history of Cherokee Native American tailored to our interest. She also willing to drive around quickly to Native American area which we really enjoyed to know how Native American lives. Shannon is also knowledgeable about nature, we learned some interesting plans fact along the way. When we expressed that we would love to try elk and we don’t bring our car. she offered the last hour to find elk jerky and dropped us off in the hotel. Plus, Shannon is very respectful and friendly which makes us international tourist comfortable with her. I would recommend Shannon to any international traveler!Written December 4, 2024

- 585marien0 contributionsTouring Cades CoveI highly recommend Smoky Mountain Guides when you are looking for a tour of Smoky Mountain National Park. Their customer service is excellent, even calling us in advance to make arrangements to meet us near our resort where we could leave our vehicle in a safe, free parking lot. They also offered to order lunch for us since our tour would last into the afternoon. Our guide, Phil, was outstanding. He was friendly, courteous and considerate, doing everything he could to make our tour the best experience possible. He asked us about our interests and then planned our stops accordingly. He was very knowledgeable about the area and the people who lived, worked and developed Cades Cove and he shared with us stories about their amazing lives. We particularly appreciated that Phil planned a special stop for lunch where we could take in the sights and sounds of a bubbling brook while we enjoyed our meal. He also helped us capture our memories in some amazing photos.Written November 18, 2024
- L4539AAjg0 contributionsOutstanding guided hike!!Kindel did a fantastic job as our guide on the Chimney Tops Trail in Great Smoky Mountain National Park!!! It was exactly what I was hoping for when I booked a guided hike with Smoky Mountain Guides for our group of 6, and it even exceeded my expectations. Her enthusiasm and joy for the park were contagious. She was extremely knowledgeable about the trail, the plants, and the animals. Kindel was just a lot of fun to hang around with and made our group of 6 over 60-year-old hikers feel much younger! Also, Kindel recommended a super hike for our group to do on our own for Wednesday: Andrews Bald and the loop trail to the top of Clingman's Dome. It was an excellent suggestion and was the perfect hike for our group. We really enjoyed the hike and all the beautiful views from the trail and from the top of the Clingman's Dome tower. I highly recommend booking a guided hike in the Smokies with them! -JessWritten November 15, 2024
- C1337VLchrisc0 contributionsIt’s a must!Absolutely would recommend a tour with Smokey mountain guides and if you have any luck, you’ll have Wes! His knowledge of the Great Smokey Mountains is exceptional and his great sense of humor was aWESome. He’s like Mary Poppins of the mountains with his backpack and umbrella. The hike was educational, fun and we would do it all again tomorrow. Do not hesitate to book with them!Written November 14, 2024
- Escape570182297980 contributionsClassic National Tour of Great Smoky MountainsThis was a last minute booking and I’m so glad we took the Classic Natl. Park tour. Wes, our tour guide, was excellent. He was a great storyteller with many first hand accounts of the Great Smoky Mountains. He tried to personalize the experience for each person on the tour. Definitely recommend this tour!Written November 14, 2024
- Mary O0 contributionsGreat detailed TourPhilip B. gave us a fantastic tour! Many historical points, geared the tour towards our interests. Phil was a fountain of historical information and a downright great person! Enjoyed meeting him and our detailed introduction to the Smoky Mountains! Answered my many questions. Saw some gorgeous fall foliage and incredible views. Saw a couple of wild turkeys, but alas, no bears today! Phil gave it his best shot. Gave us some good info for the remainder of our trip. Lots of photo stops, took our picture many times, and provided a safe, comfortable ride. Highly recommend!Written October 30, 2024

- travel29860 contributionsExcellent Spruce Flats Falls Tour with MarkI took the Appalachian Waterfalls Trail Hike with Mark today 10/29/24. I had a fantastic tour and Mark was very accommodating to my needs. The tour overall was roughy about 3 hours long and we had a chance to view the Spruce Flat Falls. Mark was an expert guide and had all the necessities with him- including hiking sticks, water and snacks with a backpack to store any jackets etc. The hike was easy to moderate and we took a few short breaks. Overall it was a fantastic day with great weather and I really enjoyed it! Would highly recommend this company to anyone looking to tour the Smoky Mountains National Park.Written October 29, 2024
- Culture2493380 contributionsAutumn Colors at There BestFour couples took the tour to enjoy the autumn colors in the Smokey Mountains. Our guide was Wes and he was an excellent guide. He was very knowledgeable about the Smokey Mountains and of Cherokee as well as area around the park for suggestions for additional places to visit. Wes found the best photography sites to capture pictures of elk and the mountain colors. Wes picked us up at our cabin in Gatlinburg and we then travelled to Cherokee, Clingmans Dome (now Kuwohi) and the tour closed with a picnic lunch at Chimneys Picnic Area. The van was very comfortable. All our friends thoroughly enjoyed the tour and gave it high recommendations.Written October 29, 2024

We have an autistic adult son and our driver's (John) warmth and personality immediately put our son at ease letting us as parents relax. The driving tour was great. John's insight into the ecosystem of the Smokey Mountains made the trip very interesting. His flexibility enabled us to see great sites prior to the cloud coverage fully moving in that morning. Normally, I am the one driving through a National Park and I then miss seeing all the sights as I have to be attentive to the road. This Driving Tour let me relax, enjoy my family and take great pics.

Our driver was fantastic. She told us about the history of the park, interesting information about the different mountain peaks and plant life, and stopped at different viewing locations up the mountain. We got to walk up to Clingmans Dome and this was awesome. Highly recommend this tour, especially if you are the driver in your group and want a chance to experience the mountain while someone else handles the driving.

Awesome tour and tour guide, Phillip. We arrived early for our tour and so did our guide. Even before the tour started, our guide texted us to give us information on what vehicle to look for and where to find him. Because our guide was punctual and so were we, we got on our way. He asked us a lot of questions, which were welcomed, to find out what our interests as a group were. Did I mention that we had a private tour for our foursome? BONUS! We enjoyed having a private coach and a dedicated guide. Phillip was very knowledgeable and showed us a great time. He allowed us the time to walk to the Dome, spend time in the gift shop without rushing us. He was very kind in taking pictures of our group, which he did a fabulous job at that as well. Overall, we saw what we wanted but we will likely have to take another tour to see some of the areas of the Park that you just can’t fit into in a 3 hour tour. We would definitely rebook with Phillip…he was the BEST!

My spouse and I did the "Over the Top" tour which was private. Our tour guide Wendy was a very safe driver and we were happy to be able to enjoy all the scenery in a comfortable van without having to worry about navigating the windy roads. The tour involved several stops along the way to see some historical buildings, the visitor center, the Tennessee/NC state line, and the magnificent vista at the highest elevation. Our guide was very personable and provided great stories and information. Highly recommend.

Phil our tour guide was excellent! He is very knowledgeable and thoroughly enjoys being a tour guide. He knows so much about the Smoky Mountains and shared the stories and history with such passion. I went on this tour with 2 teenagers, a 7-year-old and my husband. We did not get a chance to get breakfast before the tour. To our surprise and delight, Phil had snacks, breakfast bars and cold water waiting for us. The refreshments held us until lunch time, and we were able to enjoy our tour with no complains of hunger from the kids. Phil also took some amazing photos during the tour. Such a great experience overall. I highly recommend this tour company. Thank you again Phil!

I booked this trip as I wanted to visit Clingmans Dome, Wes was a great guide very humorous and knowledgably identifying many plants and points of interest along the way. He was very supportive and there was no rush to the top it was all done at a slow steady pace enabling me to meet my goal of getting to the top. There was some cloud cover but this started to clear allowing the amazing views to penetrate through. Wes knowledge continued even at the top. It was a great trip that went by too quickly

My husband and I really enjoyed this tour with Kindel as our guide. Although it was mid-October, we experienced unexpected snow at Newfound Gap, with the road closed to the Clingman Dome. ( Made for fun photos.) Kindel used the opportunity to chat about the weather in the Smokies and her experiences. She was always friendly and upbeat and sharing anecdotes definitely added to the charm of the tour.

Wes is a great guide. I wanted to take a tour of the Smokey Mountains but wanted someone else to drive so I could enjoy the views. This was the perfect tour for that. We did go on a day that was misting and slightly overcast but still enjoyed it. Wes was very knowledgeable and told us many facts and stories I was unaware of about the Park. I will take this tour every time I come to the Great Smokey Mountains Park.

Philip was our tour guide. He was friendly and knowledgeable. He asked us what we wanted to see in our tour, and we explained that we would rather hear about the history of the area rather than the flora and fauna. He adapted the tour to tell us about what we wanted, stopping throughout to give us the opportunity to take pictures of the family and the amazing scenery. The vehicle we were in was a large custom bus like you would find at the airport.he had water and snacks on board and took the majority of our family photos for us. I highly recommend this tour as it was informative and entertaining. The guide was exceptional. We will take this again at our earliest opportunity.
