- cherylsR3233RH0 contributionsBeautiful scenery & worth the timeKnowledgeable & personable guides created a safe pleasant experience. We appreciated the tips on footwear, bringing our own water and snacks and keeping us posted on timing during the trip. It would have been more efficient to have someone other than the guides cook our meal so we didn't have to wait so long on a very hot day. Lockers for our stuff would also have been helpful. Just the right boat trip length; be prepared for a 15 minute school bus ride each way. We did get a litttle wet so quick dry shorts or swim bottoms would be advisable, especially for a bathroom break along the way.Written July 10, 2024

- Melray610 contributionsScenic Float with DinnerWhat a perfect way to end our visit to Glacier! Although we love whitewater rafting, we chose to relax with Great Northern on the scenic float with riverside dinner. Thoroughly enjoyed Ali, Coleman and Matt taking us downriver. The real surprise was the grilled steak and asparagus dinner on the river. Matt headed down river before the rest of us, and by the time we got to the designated spot, everything was set up and the steaks were ready to put on the grill. The meal was as good as any nice restaurant I’ve eaten at. My husband and I remarked at how efficient the whole operation was! Great Northern is the last Mom and Pop rafting company on the river and their family type atmosphere really makes a difference.Written June 26, 2024

Our family had a great afternoon whitewater rafting through Great Northern. Our guide Collin, was very knowledgable and friendly. He made sure we understood the different things we needed to do to be safe once we hit the rapids and did a great job keeping us safe. We liked the different stories he told about the river as well as some of the history of Glacier National Park. Even though the river was pretty low due to a dry summer and we didn't get the true 2s and 3s we were wanting, it still was a fun and entertaining ride. I would go through Great Northern again for a rafting trip.

We were traveling as a couple into Glacier National Park and thought Whitewater rafting would be fun. They have the Flathead River which has class II and III Rapids. We arrived on a day that had a large group going out, and thought we would be paired within that group, but, thankfully, we were not. We were put with another couple from down south. Out guide was Melody and she was very well versed, not only with the safeties of Whitewater rafting, but also with the history of the area. She also truly understood the lay of the river, and where trouble spots were. That knowledge came into play a couple times, and kept us out of harms way. Her guidance allowed the four of us and a couple trainees to have a fantastic time. The landscape with the National Park to our right was epic. I do suggest Great Northern Whitewater Rafting at the Great Northern Lodge off of US2 in Montana, by West Glacier. All of their guides were great to listen to and had fantastic stories.

We are a family of 5 with 2 smaller children (ages 6 and 8) and we had the best time! Our guide, Chris, was phenomenal and made sure we had an amazing experience. We felt very safe with our children on his boat. We also loved that this is a smaller company than some of the other outfitters and they did not just pack people in like sardines. We really loved everything about how this company operates. We highly recommend them!

Had a great time! Brenna was an awesome guide and Sam was very entertaining during the drives too and from the river. Scenic views the whole way down the rapids and Brenna did a great job at keeping us all in the boat. Highly recommend this activity for anyone who wants to explore GNP in a different way.

Weather was bad. Cold and rainy, but the river guide's disposition was very sunny! Her name was Elisabeth and the trip we took was her last guided trip of the summer. She headed back to college the following day. She had very good knowledge of the river, because this was her third year guiding with this river outfitter. She knew a great deal about the history of the river and pointed out the places most impacted by a flood that happened in the mid 1960s. The raft had 6 paddlers plus the guide and I think was about 14 feet long. The quality of the craft was really good, because one of the other rafts became stuck on a rock and it took 3 other rafts purposely running into it to free the stuck raft. The classification of the rapids we went through in early August was 2 and 3. The guide mentioned one was class 4, but I never felt in danger on this trip. We did get wet and it felt cold due to the weather conditions, but we were able to get warm quickly once back at our vehicle. All the guides this day were female and had a great attitude, which made the trip a lot of fun. All in all, I recommend this rafting company for novice rafters like myself.

We had a fantastic time on this tour, and our guide Ox did an exceptional job instructing our group and answering questions, as well as just making good conversation. The rapid challenges were just right for a beginner group while also providing some challenges, and we all thoroughly enjoyed our time. It was well worth the money, and I would highly recommend this trip to anyone looking to see Glacier up close with some adventure!

Well organized and easy check in. We forgot lip balm and sunscreen so bought there’s at a higher than normal price. They hold keys at front office and encourage you to secure valuables before commencing adventure. They provide everything you need including transportAtion. Wish we brought our camera though they discouraged it. They had a photographer get us at one of the rapids. Went through maybe 6-8 class 2/3 rapids. Great guide Sophie or “So”. There were four other rafts also guided so we had five guides/rafts so very safe There we’re about 8-10 per raft so our raft had our family of 3 and another family of 4 plus guide. Bus ride had a guide who tried to make some corny jokes and very family friendly. If you’re bringing kids they need to be at least 45 lbs. No disappointments only look forward to amping my rapids to a higher level next time we Whitewater. MoreClass 3+ for me. Beautiful park and lots of BNSF train activity on their Hi Line.

We took a 4 hour white water rafting and dinner tour. The scenery is beautiful; the river was exciting in parts and relaxing in others. Our guide was excellent. I cannot say enough about Coleman. Every direction he gave us was spot on and we always felt in control and safe even in the more exciting rapids. The dinner was great and it’s impressive how quickly they had dinner ready for 20 people . This is a wonderful way to see the park.

My guide, Batman, was excellent!
He directed into the heart of the rapids and spun us so we could watch the other boats go through and relive the experience. He was entertaining and informative.
I would call them class 2-3 rapids with scenic flats in between. Would have been nice if they were a little bigger but really nice for people looking for an introductory WW experience.
Pro food tip:
Go to The Wandering Gringo for burritos after!
Huge, delicious, reasonably priced.
Next door to the outfitters.

FABULOUS EXPERIENCE!!! Charlie was amazing - we only lost 2 people - just kidding 😆. The river was stunning but the entire trip was made perfect and much more enjoyable because of Charlie and his really bad dad jokes and you could easily see how much he loves his job. If you go, ask for Charlie! ❤️
