    ABSOLUTE MUST!
When visiting Alaska for the first time, I did so much research on what touring company to use for something like this and I'm SO happy I chose Aurora in Alaska. The booking process was easy and the admin staff was super friendly and accommodating to the questions I had. I loved how we were picked up and had a tour on the way to the destination, had really great refreshments like Alaskan hard seltzer and I even ate a reindeer hotdog (YUM). What a fun little addition to say I ate a reindeer!! The actual lil campout spot was in a beautiful location and the tour guide, Nick, was super nice and friendly. They give you the option to hangout in the heated van if you're too cold but I was fine outside. Just be sure to layer up! I saw him helping others with their camera settings so they can capture everything the best, which was really cool. I booked at the very tail end of the season so sadly I didn't get to see the lights but that didn't make me feel as if this booking went to waste. I had such an amazing time socializing with everyone there along with the experience and being we didn't get to see anything, we were offered a rebooking for free or a refund which was ABOVE the service I was expecting. I highly suggest booking with Aurora in Alaska because you'll have an amazing time and make life-long memories :)

The Best Way to Enhance your Aurora Viewing Experience
My number one reason for visiting Fairbanks in March was to see the Aurora Borealis, so choosing the right tour was my priority. Now when you go in March when the skies are dark you can see them all around Fairbanks if the skies are clear, but I really liked the idea of the van tour that had the flexibility to choose the best spots for viewing depending on conditions. In addition, this Aurora in Alaska Tour provides photos of your evening using professional camera & video that you cannot always see with the naked eye, and definitely better than the camera on my cell phone! We texted Aurora in Alaska when we arrived in Fairbanks to see if the night we had made a reservation for was still a good night, and they suggested a better night. They have a great team and are great communicators. They watch the weather (cloud cover) and intensity (Univ AK GI tracks this) and try to give you the best chance of seeing the lights possible. The night me and my friends went the lights didn't start coming out until 2am, and Aurora in Alaska stayed until everyone saw them and saw them dance! Impressive. In addition, there was food, drinks, a fire and warm vans to stay comfortable- they think of everything! One highlight that I was not expecting was meeting Daniel, a local from Utqiagvik who told stories about life in Northern Alaska and taught us how to roast reindeer sausage over the fire. It was a special night I will never forget.

    Truly incredible aurora experience!
This was truly an incredible experience. The night before I had tried to see the lights from a lodge, but the weather didn’t cooperate. I chose this tour because of the mobile nature to increase my chances. I like that this company allowed solo bookings unlike several other companies. In total they were 2 couples and 2 of us soli travelers. We stopped at the pipeline on the way and then went to Olnes Pond. The aurora was beautiful! They had a fire pit where we could warm up and the van was left running too so you could get out of the cold for a bit. Tony was a great guide and really made this a memorable trip! I give this my highest recommendation.

    Great experiences both nights!
We spent two evenings in a row Aurora hunting with Aurora in Alaska. The first night we went with Nick and the second night our guide was Tony. We had great viewings both evenings, but, even if that had not been our luck, the time spent with them was great! Both nights, Nick put out a spread of warm beverages, along with delicious caribou sausages to cook over the fire which he built to keep the guests warm outside. They took photos of the Aurora and of the guests with the Aurora through the evenings, which they shared the following day. Conversation and stories were entertaining! The second night we made a stop at the pipeline, where we learned about that as well – another thing checked off the wish list. The vehicle was kept running the entire night for warmth and comfort if you desired. The experiences both evenings were very enjoyable! We would do it again with Aurora in Alaska!

    Amazing!
Let me comment on the below review by Coastal. I was out that night. 1- the Aurora occur in the ionosphere- the outer edge of our atmosphere so many miles and miles above us. 2- auroral displays or lines stretch hundreds of miles across the sky- 3-because they are so high, and so long, people in the Interior of Alaska will see the same displays- 4- moving a few miles on earth isn't going to help or change your perspective noticeably- 5- moving around instead wastes your viewing time as you drive down highways with headlights and traffic 6- fresh snow is clean and hygienic! There are no birds or chimneys way out of town! You're in Alaska!! These guys are professionals. They took excellent care of us!! Your words like "beware" and "lure" are trying to scare off other visitors, but really after reading all the other reviews, I agree with them- Aurora In Alaska was awesome!! Face it lady, you are unlucky! Don't take it out on this small business!

    Incredible Adventure
My friends and I had an incredible Aurora viewing adventure and enjoyed every minute of it. Nick our tour guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic and allowed us to take as many photos as we wanted. I would highly recommend the tour company and hopefully you will get Nick as your tour guide.

Totally disappointing and certainly not what was promised
We took this trip because they promised an aurora chasing, to quite from theur description: "Venture away from the light pollution of Fairbanks and embark on an aurora chasing tour. Join a small group and travel in a heated van in search of the colorful natural phenomenon." While the group was small, and there were snacks and coffee provided, we did not do any chasing. The night we were out, later on we heard that there were multiple aurora viewings from spots nearby. However, this tour just took us to a spot that was barely 20 minutes away from Fairbanks and then we just sat in the van and/or outside bonfire waiting for the lights the entire duration of the trip. When I read 'chasing' I expect to go to anther place in case we do not see anything in the first one. The lights did not happen after a white band display in the sky, but instead of finding out where we can watch it properly in the next location and 'chasing' it there, the guide did nothing. They also misinformed. They had powerful cameras with which they took pictures that were NOTHING like what we could see (or did not see) that night and touted it as having seen the aurora. We felt terribly cheated. Beware that this company lures you in with the promise of a refund if you cannot view, but the fine print is 'view yourself or the view through the cameras". Since the camera lenses will always pick up the aurora even f we cannot see it with our naked eyes, you are basically paying for an experience by camera- proxy. AND they certainly do not chase anything. Might be cheaper to just buy some pictures. Also, they offered us snow cones made from the snow accumulated outside the van where we had parked. We felt this was very unhygienic and insulting, considering how much we had paid for this trip. We refused the non-treat. This was a very expensive reindeer dog!!!!

    It was incredible.
This was a wonderful experience led by a guide and company. Transport was right on time, and provided a timely "heads up" before arrival for pick up. As we watched outside the van, it was assuring the van was running and available to keep us warm. Our photos weren't so great but the Viewing Adventure company had a super camera just perfect for excellent photos.

    Loved our experience
Aurora in Alaska helped us have a truly wonderful experience. This company researched cloud cover and aurora happenings and provided the best possible situation to have an aurora experience. The photographic equipment they have and their experience taking pictures for their customers is amazing. They included their pictures as part of the experience. There was a campfire and reindeer sausages to roast. Many kinds of drinks were provided. The atmosphere was friendly and fun. We were comfortable with the experience for our 12 year old grandson who wanted to see an aurora. Our guides shared their knowledge generously. The warm van was great retreat when the cold and lateness became too much. We were impressed by this company on every level and would wholeheartedly recommend them.

Incredible Aurora viewing adventure tour with Aurora in Alaska
The tour guide is great and knows where to find a good place to watch the Aurora. The sky was cloudy in Fairbanks but he took us north to an area where the sky is clear, the stars are just beautiful and the Aurora is spectacular. The food and drink was great. The car is warm.

    Professional and fun!
We had a stellar time on our tour. Nick, Tony, and Nicole were professional through and through. They were timely and clear with communication, easy to talk to and very knowledgeable, and cared a lot about making sure our group had the best aurora hunting experience possible. Super responsive to questions and requests and took many wonderful photos that we received quickly after the tour. Van was tidy and comfortable and the warm beverages were much appreciated. They made the night easy and fun, and I absolutely recommend booking with them.

    Highlight of our Trip
This was an incredible experience! The staff was so knowledgeable and took us to a breathtaking spot for amazing Aurora viewing. There were so many much appreciated details- a campfire, hot dogs, and coffee and cocoa to keep us warm. I was also so so grateful that the staff let us know that the initial day we had planned would not be ideal viewing conditions due to clouds, so they gave us the option for either a full refund or to go on a different day with better conditions. I could tell they really cared about giving their customers the best possible experience. Thank you so much for the memories :)
