- azint20240 contributionsBEST TOUR EVER!!!HIGHLY RECOMMEND CHOOSING AURORA IN ALASKA TOUR. Andrew and Tony are awesome. Very nice, knowledgeable, friendly. I told them it has been my childhood dream to see the northern lights and they said " so we have to find you aurora and they did 😊. They stopped at 2 locations so we see the lights although the tour was mainly for hot spring. I really appreciate their efforts.Written March 19, 2024
- Skates19730 contributionsKevin our driver was the bestKevin our driver was absolutely 💯 the BEST ! Unfortunately we didn't see the Northern Lights but Kevin made the experience fun. We met up with another crew, we roasted hotdogs, there was 3 different camp fires, Kevin went above & beyond to make EACH guest feel comfortable. We both served in the military. I have a lot of respect for Kevin. Our van was packed ! We laughed, we had great conversation. Chena hot springs needs to REMODEL the bathrooms, #1. Chena Hot springs dressing rooms are covered in puddles of water #2. The blow dryers do not work in the dressing rooms. #3. There's not enough lockers for guest. #4. We had to wait 1hr & 30 minutes to eat dinner #5. The food at Chena resorts is so so, nothing to brag about ! #6. The ice museum melted partially. THE TRIP IS WORTH IT ! IT WAS AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE. Everyone should experience NATURAL HOT SPRING WATER, the natural springs made my skin super soft. The experience is definitely worth the money 💰. Kevin was the best 👌 I give Kevin our driver 10 stars, I think he should get a raise, he went above & beyond to make us happy. WE NEVER SAW THE NORTHERN LIGHTS because the skies were cloudy ! Kevin made us feel less sad & less disappointed. THE TRIP IS WORTH IT ! DO IT !Written March 16, 2024

- 957shayla0 contributionsAmazing apple martini, hot spring water & northern lights show!On this tour I finally witnessed bright dancing northern lights :)! What a fantastic show! Kevin, our tour driver/guide pulled over at the right time and at a great spot. Clear skies definitely helped! From that spot we even witnessed a nighttime dog sledding tour passing us by :). In addition, earlier this night, the apple martini from the ice museum tasted so delicious, and soaking in the hot spring water after the martini felt extra relaxing and amazing! Everything worked so well on this tour :).Written November 26, 2023

First things first, definitely book this tour directly with the company--it's cheaper that way. I was struggling to find a good aurora viewing tour that wasn't booked out as my trip to Fairbanks was drawing closer and came across this gem. They take you to a spot somewhere off of the Chena Hot Springs road away from the light pollution in a pretty big group split up into two vans and a couple other people followed us in their own car. What's cool about this tour is that if we didn't see the lights at the first spot, they had two other spots they could take us to chase the lights. But the first spot didn't disappoint us.
It was -13 degrees when we were out and were thankfully able to see the lights starting around 12:30am and it danced on and off until almost 2am. The photographer, Nick, took some cool pictures of us, which is unlimited and complimentary by the way if you are okay with unedited photos. Keep in mind that when aurora chasing, the lights aren't strong enough to be completely visible to the naked eye. You just see a green tint in the sky but through a camera, you can see it much more clearly. I definitely did not know that coming to Alaska but Nick was helpful in explaining that to us.
The company also served us hot drinks, water, and hard seltzers as well as reindeer dogs to eat in a bun. You warm up the reindeer dogs over a little campfire they built with provided bonfire skewers. We ended up getting cold quite a bit so we stayed in the heated vans until Nick would get us when the aurora lights are back out.
I knocked them down a rating though because they are unreachable via email or phone advertised on their website when you try to book with them. I was pretty sketched out when I booked the tour with them but the day of the tour, they texted me letting me know the conditions and chance of seeing the lights. They stayed true to their Aurora Guarantee policy and offered the options one what you want to do after hearing about the chances.
Shoutout to Bri for being our tour driver and keeping us safe on those icy roads! She also came back to our hotel when I had forgotten my tripod in the van, which I will forever be grateful for. She also gave me and my friend each a cool sticker.

What an amazing night!
First of all, we booked directly through the company (cheaper and put me in direct contact with them by email).
We got a text the day of our excursion saying they were excited and hopeful as the lights looks to be active that night, however weather was questionable and there was only a 30-40% chance of seeing them. We were given the option to 1.) cancel with full refund 2.) reschedule to another day that week or 3.) go out and take our chances without the guarantee. After responding to several very annoying questions from me, we decided to take our chances. I am SO GLAD we did!
They picked us up at 9:15 from our hotel. There were only the five of us, one other couple and another individual on the trip along with our 2 guides. They drove us in their lovely van about 40 minutes out of town. It was -8 out and windy but they found a clearing and within 15 minutes the lights came out! I appreciated the heated van (it was plenty warm for us to take breaks and warm up in) as well as the small fire, hot drinks and reindeer sausage (which I didn’t try but appreciated the option!) They also had hand warmers for my freezing California teenagers.
I know some of it is dumb luck, but we had the most incredible light show! Nick showed me how to take the best pics and then took complimentary pictures of our whole family. We took them more than once as the lights just kept getting better and better. We got to watch them dance across the sky for a very long time. Since they came out so fast and we got a great show we even got consensus to head back to town early and got a good night’s sleep.
I recommend them to anyone who wants to maximize their chances of seeing the lights. It was our most expensive excursion of the trip but worth every penny to cross off this bucket list item!

We went on this tour on our first trip to Alaska after already going on the Hot Springs tour with the same company. They are always very professional, take you in a big comfortable modern van and work to make sure you have a good time .. we were very impressed with their service and we got really lucky on our last day in Alaska seeing the northern lights .. they took us to the perfect place and we got the perfect pictures that we hoped for .. thanks again and we highly recommend … they managed the evening very well and i highly recommend

This was literally one of the best traveling experiences I have ever had. The guides communicated well about pick-up and were so kind, energetic, knowledgeable, and hardworking during the excursion. There are a few things that really set this company apart from the rest: they research where the Aurora is most likely to show up on any given night and will take you to that location (instead of having a set spot/lodge to go to), they build a campfire to help keep you warm, you get to roast and eat reindeer sausage (they also had a vegan option), they serve unlimited warm drinks, you are also allowed to hang-out in the travel van for warmth, and the best part...they take photos for you! They send you a link to download unedited photos (which are amazing) for free or you can pay extra for edited photos. This was the highlight of the our trip to Alaska! We researched many companies and are so thankful we went with Aurora in Alaska!

We took this trip because they promised an aurora chasing, to quite from theur description: "Venture away from the light pollution of Fairbanks and embark on an aurora chasing tour. Join a small group and travel in a heated van in search of the colorful natural phenomenon."
While the group was small, and there were snacks and coffee provided, we did not do any chasing. The night we were out, later on we heard that there were multiple aurora viewings from spots nearby. However, this tour just took us to a spot that was barely 20 minutes away from Fairbanks and then we just sat in the van and/or outside bonfire waiting for the lights the entire duration of the trip. When I read 'chasing' I expect to go to anther place in case we do not see anything in the first one. The lights did not happen after a white band display in the sky, but instead of finding out where we can watch it properly in the next location and 'chasing' it there, the guide did nothing.
They also misinformed. They had powerful cameras with which they took pictures that were NOTHING like what we could see (or did not see) that night and touted it as having seen the aurora. We felt terribly cheated.
Beware that this company lures you in with the promise of a refund if you cannot view, but the fine print is 'view yourself or the view through the cameras". Since the camera lenses will always pick up the aurora even f we cannot see it with our naked eyes, you are basically paying for an experience by camera- proxy. AND they certainly do not chase anything. Might be cheaper to just buy some pictures. Also, they offered us snow cones made from the snow accumulated outside the van where we had parked. We felt this was very unhygienic and insulting, considering how much we had paid for this trip. We refused the non-treat. This was a very expensive reindeer dog!!!!

We are so sorry that you didn’t enjoy your tour with us. We do our absolute best to make every evening enjoyable for all our guests. We are very transparent is what we do and have entire blogs posted on our website about our guarantee policy. However it does seem like this was just not the tour for you. If you would like to reach out to us we do want to discuss how to prevent this from happening in the future and find a way to make it right for you. Currently we cannot see what night you went or who you are to reach out personally.

Let me start by saying Austin, our tour guide was 100% a blast to have lead our tour. He was professional and knowledgeable. We’ve seen the Aurora in Arctic Sweden so we knew what to expect. Austin helped go beyond expectations. They have the best and most comfortable bus in Fairbanks. If you book a Aurora experience this is the company to book with. They also offer free drinks, a coffee bar, water and even hard Alaskan seltzer’s. Also Austin builds a campfire where you have the opportunity to roast your own reindeer sausages. He also brought us to probably one of the best spots we could’ve been to view the Aurora. The night started with cloud over but Austin had planned for us to drive further north where we had less clouds and it was totally worth it. If you want to see the Aurora and do it the best way possible while in Fairbanks book with Williams Premier Tours and Austin!

Nick picked us up at where we stayed three weeks ago, and drove us north to the a hill top. We had outdoor fire, hot drinks and food, and a very warm comfortable van when we could not stand the cold night. The best thing with this tour is the photography. We had spent a couple of days in Fairbanks and saw aurora. But, as amateur photographers ourselves, we were not able to take a good picture. One of the reasons is that our cameras batteries kept freeze on us due to 30 below temperature. The northern lights comes and goes. We did not have time to adjust the cameras. Thank God we booked this tour. Nick is such a good night photographer. Not only he captured all the amazing northern lights pictures of us, he did not charge us extra fee for those. They are included in the tour. Highly recommend this tour.

Would definitely hire again. Even though it was cloudy in Fairbanks, Austin knew just where to go and we got to see the Aurora Borealis! An excellent driver, super laid back, but he thought of little things to make our adventure more enjoyable. He took lots of beautiful pics that my iPhone was not capable of and shared them with us before we got back! Near the end we discovered the Aurora changed and was even more beautiful, he went the extra mile and let us take more pics—even though we were all cold and tired. He and his partner/brother were very responsive to inquiries.

I spent a lot of time reviewing other aurora viewing tours and even booked a second trip with another company that advertised itself as "being different" and highlighted its success rate (yet with a no cancellation/no refund policy within a month from your tour date). Don't bother - Aurora in Alaska is all you need. Check out their Aurora Guarantee Policy and learn for yourself. They kindly reached out to me in advance of my scheduled tour and suggested I change to an earlier date to enhance my viewing opportunity. Great communication, knowledgeable guides, a small group, comfortable van, food and drink, and an evening out under the stars. Saw the aurora as we were driving out of Fairbanks, and it only got better as the evening progressed. You do need to do your homework in terms of checking the aurora forecast (I wouldn't recommend looking at anything over 3 days out), the weather, moon cycle, etc., but if all look favorable, Aurora in Alaska will get you to some beautiful locations for some great viewing/photography. Highly recommended and I look forward to booking again!

Amazing tour, one of the best I've been on! The team did a great job communicating with us on conditions and what time we would be picked up. Aurora was very active that night so the team setup at a campsite and we were able to hang out there and enjoy the show. The tour provided comfortable transportation to and from our hotel in Fairbanks. At the site they setup coffee, water, alcoholic beverages, and reindeer hot dogs to roast over a camp fire. They had two photographers with them that night to help take pictures of the groups and the lights that they provided for free a couple of days later. Shout out to Tim Banks who helped me after my tripod broke, he setup his tripod for me to use and took amazing pictures of my group, went above and beyond for us!
