This was Shannon Scott's original 1990's tour that started everything! Colonial Park Cemetery serves as the biggest story graveyard in the whole Historic District! Its the oldest patch of city land one can visit and where you'll see materials far older than the surrounding Victorian City. In Savannah's colonial hours, this is where every town meeting, picnic, wedding, duel and public execution was conducted! Eventually it would be the final resting place of Gen Nathanael Greene, 2 signers of The Declaration of Independence, merchants, priests, paupers, soldiers and just about every character that gave blood, sweat and tears to the early colony and later nation. Less we forget how Yellow Fever turned it all into a mass grave resulting in the permanent closure in 1853. Discussions also extend to the Root Doctor culture ritualism, The Old City Jail, Conrad Aiken Birthplace, Dueling Grounds and all complete with visual images to enhance the experience.

      A must-see while in Savannah
It would be a mistake to visit this cemetery without a guide. Sure, it’s beautiful, but the stories behind the gravesites make the experience memorable. Our guide, Daniel Cohen, clearly loves the cemetery and is extremely knowledgeable.

      Excellent guide and fascinating tour
Bonaventure is a beautiful, peaceful place in the daytime, so we wanted to learn more. I thought it might be spooky at night, but it wasn’t. We had also taken a Savannah ghost tour where 90% was completely fabricated and good people’s reputations were besmirched by lies and it was important to us that the truth- whatever it was- was told. Shannon addressed my concerns and I felt he was truthful and sincere. We visited 6 different plots in the Cemetery for information. It’s totally interesting material- lots of Masonic stuff, rich people crazy, and characters. Shannon was very knowledgeable and prepared for questions. I love history and appreciate people who truly love going down the rabbit holes of it all. Highly recommend this tour. It’s not Halloween ish or silly, it’s fascinating trivia and I’d love to go again to different parts of the Cemetery on tour with him as a guide.

      Ask for Ken Rimes
We had a wonderful tour of Savannah with historian Ken Rimes. He brought the history of true Savannah to life! Having grown up in the city, he knows all the back stories and even showed an original print of the first lay out of the city showing the original squares and tithing lots. He is an exceptional guide.

      Great eclectic/in depth tour
Paschal went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience. The two hours flew by while we learned about several of the famous former Savannah residents who were buried there. His depth of knowledge and story telling was great. The access we received to things we would have missed on our own added to the interest level. Highly recommend this tour. Oh did I mention how personable and funny Paschal was??? It made for a great time.

Interesting Tour That Was Well Done!
Great tour. Interesting subject matter and relevant stories. They provided lanterns for walking in the dark. My wife and I enjoyed it. It was the highlight of all the tours we took.

Best tour I took in two weeks
I was "sold" on this particular walking tour by the website and how Shannon Scott became an expert on Bonaventure Cemetery. So when I arrived at the tour and was greeted by tour guide Jon Cohen, I was disappointed. I'd already had another "switcheroo" on a tour in Savannah - apparently this is a Savannah thing - and I lowered my expectations. In fact, my first impulse was to just walk away and get on Trip Advisor to give a bad review. I'm including all this information because I seriously think Savannah needs to be held accountable for the many things they get wrong about tourism - and deception is a big one. HOWEVER, Jon was fantastic. He has a charm that kept me from walking away and quickly turned me into an attentive fan. The tour was extremely enjoyable. I learned so much about the people buried in Bonaventure, the artist who created the many magnificent tombstones and even some "behind the scenes" stories about Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. He was very attentive to every one of us on tour and was the best tour guide I experienced on my two weeks in the Low Country. I highly recommend taking this tour ... and try and get Jon as your guide.

Shannon Scott Bonaventure Tour Savannah, Ga
Attended the evening tour of Bonaventure Cemetary with my wife and it did not disappoint! The historic cemetery is huge and has beautiful stonework and landscaping. Shannon is an outstanding guide, his passion for the history of Savannah shined through in stories he told. We had a great time and will do it again when we return. Shannon provided flashlights, lanterns, and bug spray for the attendees which was greatly appreciated.

Loved Shannon Scott after dark tour! He is a wonderful presenter and kept everyone very engaged. We did a couple other tours in Savannah and I kept wishing he was leading those tours instead!

      Private Daytime Bonaventure Tour
My wife and I had a great time on our private tour with Shannon!! He possesses an endless amount of knowledge about the people, and places in and around Savannah. We did the Bonaventure half day tour with him today. He picked us up right on time. We stopped to see a handful of places on the way to the cemetery. Once we got to Bonaventure Cemetery he took us to countless graves, and told us several stories, and facts about the people laid to rest within them. He answered any and all questions we had about the people he was telling us about, along with anything we asked about in the surrounding graves that we saw and were curious about. You can definitely see, feel, and hear the love and passion he has for the history, and the people of Savannah. I cannot recommend a private tour with him enough. You will not be disappointed!!

Great Tour. Don't Forget the Mosquito Spray
My sister and I booked the 8AM tour. My thought process on that was it won't be as hot and the mosquitos won't be as bad. I was 50% correct on that thought process. It wasn't as hot..actually pretty nice out, but them skeeters were OUT!!! I had black tights on, and they bit thru my tights. I had 15 bites on my left hip and 8 bites on my right hip. Douse yourself in Deep Woods Off!!! But, besides them skeeters, we very much enjoyed the tour. Very informational. Our tour guide was John. He did a fab job. He actually had some mosquito spray for us after he saw us swatting every 2 seconds, but I only sprayed our ankles, bc we had ankle length tights on. i should have sprayed a ton more. This tour is a great way to view the grounds. I would recommend!

      Great experience!
We were lucky and our tour was turned into a private one. Highly recommend our guide, Jon, he was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. We recommend taking the earliest tour possible as it gets really hot and don’t forget to bring a bug spray.

      Take this tour!
Janine, our tour guide, did an excellent job showing us around the historic squares of Savannah. She was quite knowledgeable and shared interesting information with us. We were lucky and our family of four adults and one toddler were the only people on the tour. The two hour tour was the right amount of time for us. I would recommend this tour company and Janine to give you the highlights of historic Savannah.

There is only one Shannon Scott!
Shannon Scott is THE expert on Bonaventure with a practically encyclopedic knowledge of the cemetery, its inhabitants, and history. I especially love the various Masonic references and deep dives he goes into. I Visit Savannah at least yearly and always make sure to catch this After Hours tour when I can. I had been on other Bonaventure Tours in the past, but they were nowhere as interesting or entertaining as Shannon Scott's. There's no one out there like he or this tour; and to be in Bonaventure after hours at Dusk is truly a magical experience. Highly highly recommend!!!!

Lauren was a fantastic host for our tour. She was very knowledgeable about Savannah and it's history. We had a blast listening to her accounts of the people and their life stories that have shaped Savannah over the past few hundred years. This tour was definitely a highlight of our trip to Savannah!

Russ, we're beyond pleased that this was such a gratifying date out with your God's Acre Tour guide, Lauren who is possibly our most diverse guide to date and as of present, tours in 3 city cemeteries for us as well as downtown Savannah! We're blessed and sounds like you were as well! She's already expressed her appreciation for this review! We're especially thankful that we're able to come back to Colonial Park Cemetery where all of our tour efforts began 30-some years ago to share this site actively with the public so once more, a hearty thank you for being part of it all!

We had Kenneth as our tour guide, he was so amazing! Very knowledgeable and patient with all of our questions. Would recommend him as your tour guide for any of the Shannon Scott Tours. We ended up having just our small group on the tour and that was really nice.
