Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- workingtoomuchinabq0 contributionsGreat walking experienceCrystal was amazing, so much information and fun to talk to. I don't think there was anything she did not know. Cannot imagine a better guide and we learned so much. Highly recommended.Written April 26, 2024
- melindah8930 contributionsGreat tour with lots of information. We really enjoyed the information shared in a very clear, understandable way. Our guide was very patient with our pace and cheerfully answered our quetions.Written August 7, 2023
- WGVRM0 contributionsTwo Hour Walking Tour of Savannah - A Must DoThis was a fun tour. Crystal, our interpreter was knowledgeable, but more importantly, she injected humor into her descriptions of early Savannah as we walked the squares along Bull Street starting at Wright Square and ending up at Forsyth Park and its beautiful fountain. When I saw Crystal was knowledgeable, I mean as a 4th generation Savannah native, she breathed the history of the city and personally knew some of the (recent) people she described. The tour was a gem, Crystal spent the time with us to answer all our questions. We highly recommend this tour.Written July 16, 2023
- 249suzanns0 contributionsWonderful tour!Crystal had endless knowledge and insights into the history of Savannah! We especially enjoyed the stories she shared about the celebrated (and infamous) people who were instrumental in building what is now one of the most charming cities we've seen. She really went the extra mile to ensure we were not only educated but entertained throughout the tour - we learned so many interesting tidbits along the way, including how "spanish moss" got its name and why there are cobblestones along the riverwalk. Truly engaging experience - highly recommend booking with Crystal!Written May 24, 2023
- DTurk650 contributionsA wonderful way to get to know the city!Chrystal was great. Lovely walk around this beautiful city. Very knowledgeable and interesting. I echo another person’s review stating that it was a little hard to hear her, perhaps due to the ambient noise.Written April 30, 2023
- DMP23250 contributionsHard to hearOur tour guide was very knowledgeable about Savannah history and added humorous tidbits throughout her tour. I would suggest she use a microphone and not stand on busy street corners when she talks, because her voice is thin and traffic whizzing by wasn't pleasant. She also tended to get a little too caught up in details.Written April 20, 2023

- Kate D0 contributionsGreat tour with Explore Savannah! We had a wonderful walking tour with Crystal of the historical district. We learned so much! It was our first trip to Savannah and we fell in love with the city. Crystal was so knowledgeable and charming. She made Savannah come alive with stories of Revolutionary times as well as Civil War times. She also had plenty of current day stories including the house featured in the book Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. She even knew Jim Williams! She knew so much about the history of the buildings and homes and the back stories of the squares. It was a wonderful tour and I highly recommend. You will love it!Written February 20, 2023

Bill did an excellent job guiding our walking tour with our family. We have two teenagers who love history and Bill was able to share many interesting stories about the history of this beautiful city. We learned so many new things and we were able to cover quite a bit of the historic district in our time with him. I highly recommend this tour!

We enjoyed our walking tour with Marcia. Marcia was very friendly and knowledgeable. She did her best to make sure everyone was comfortable and could hear her. There were 14 of us but fortunately a headset was provided. Some static made it hard at first but we got use to it and stayed close to Marcia so we would not miss anything. Marcia is a walking encyclopedia of Savannah history. She was animated and brought out information that went beyond your typical tour. I appreciated her recommendations. A tour makes Savannah much more interesting than just walking around on your own. You’ll do a lot of walking on this tour, which we love, and the pace is brisk. I would have preferred a slower pace and more audience participation. We take a lot of tours and enjoy learning where people are from or hearing their experiences. I would recommend this tour for people interested in history and who want to enjoy Savannah on a more stimulating level. Would not recommend this tour for children under 12.

If your tour guide was Marcia, then your tour was NOT with Explore Savannah Tours, but rather Noble Jones Tours.
Explore Savannah does not use headsets. We believe headsets take away from a more personal experience. We prefer taking you at a comfortable pace, and encourage audience participation. I agree, it always makes for a better experience when you are allowed the opportunity to get to know a little about your fellow tour members and where they are from and learning their experiences. We also love having children of all ages on our tour, and we engage them as well. It sounds like you would have better enjoyed a tour with Explore Savannah.
We hope you allow us an opportunity to have you as a guest on your next visit to Savannah.

Rose was our guide and did a great job walking us through the history of Savannah and also informing us which houses were worth special tours to get another perspective on the history of the city.
She kept the group engaged with many varied stories that really brought alive the history of the city for us.
Savannah is a beautiful and charming city and a walking tour with Rose will bring out the best of this city.

Learn some fascinating Savannah history and trivia from Rick as you wander thru several of the city's beautiful squares (I say "parks"). Easy walking, and at 2 hours and about a mile, just right. The 10am tour ends at noon at Forsyth Park; head right to the park's cafe for either the avocado toast or the shrimp 'n grits.

We agree, it’s wonderful to wander through the squares. Yes, they are all small parks and no two are the same! Savannah is filled with history, and fun filled trivia. We offer 2 tours daily at 9:30 and 1:00. They all begin in Wright Square and end in Forsyth Park. The total distance is less than 1-mile, through the squares canopied under live oak trees and offering plenty of benches along the way, if anyone needs to sit a few minutes throughout the tour. Thank you so much for taking a few minutes to give Rick a review!

Tour guide Bill made our 2 hr walking tour most enjoyable. He blended his conversations between historical information and light humor. He was well versed in the area history and conveyed this information well. He captured our attention during his talks that you wanted to listen to every word. The walking pace was easy and included 2 potential restroom stops. The described itinerary did reflect the tour.

I'm assuming that by stating that the itinerary did not reflect the tour, means that you didn't feel like a 'tourist' with Bill, but as his guest. How can we honestly convey in words exactly what your experience is going to be. All we can do is tell you what we will talk about and things you will see. But there are things you just have to 'experience' and we believe a tour with Explore Savannah is one of those things. All of us here at Explore Savannah absolutely love this city and it's always s pleasure to have the opportunity to be your personal host for those 2-hrs that you are on tour.
Thank you for taking time to give Bill a review, he enjoyed the tour as well!

Bill led us on a wonderful walk down Bull street in Savannah through four of the most significant of the city's magnificent 22 squares. His stories elucidated the important role Savannah played in from colonial times, through the Revolutionary War and beyond the Civil War. Highly recommended.

We agree, Bill does a fabulous job and it's obvious he also loves Savannah. Bill has a full time job during the week, and loves Savannah so much, he can't wait for weekends so he can take our guests on tour to share some of his knowledge about Savannah's history.
We like to give our guests a good picture of how, why, and when Savannah first began and build from there dating back to 1733 to present day. Savannah is rich in history about her Colonial days, the Revolutionary War period and the Civil War. Our goal is to always give you plenty of information that you yourself can build from and plan the rest of your stay.

This tour was the first thing my wife and I did in Savannah. We enjoyed the walk the the old town area and learned a lot about the town from our great tour guide.
We did the 9:30am tour on a Saturday near the end of June morning and we were extremely lucky to have only one other couple. I'm assuming tour group sizes are going to be increasing as tourism picks back up again.

We were fortunate to book in with Historic Savannah Walking Tour on short notice. Our small group met Rose Moss at noon for a delightful journey through many squares beginning at Wright Square to Forsyth Park. We were educated for two hours of history and lore of Savannah and the cultural district. Rose is a wealth of knowledge and is eager to answer any questions we may have had.

Our guide created an entertaining and fun adventure for our group. She reminded us of historical information we had long forgotten and shared new information we had not heard . She was knowledgeable about history, architecture, and current events. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone capable of making a 2 mile walk.

Hi! My parents and I are in Hilton Head for a month and would like to do this tour tomorrow at 1. However I have a 7 lb hypoallergenic puppy who can’t stay at home by himself yet for quite this long. Wondering if I can bring him and walk with him on a leash or carry him? Thanks ! Laurelyn

Hi. Can you tell me with covid19, how many people are normally on the tours? We want to book but we are worry with large groups. Thanks
Written November 21, 2020
Hi, we took the tour during covid and felt very comfortable. The tour is outside and the group was small. There were 7 of us including the guide and everyone practiced social distancing. The tour is great and I wouldn't miss it over covid concerns since I believe you will feel very safe. (BTW, I didn't feel the same in the main tourist area of town by the water (not on the tour) where it was crowded and people were not practicing social distancing.)
Written November 23, 2020
Where does the tour end? We have people meeting us after. Thanks!
Written March 6, 2020
We have 1 day in Savannah and are interested in this tour! What sites does it include so we can mark off of our itinerary and not include it twice?
Written February 17, 2020
You will be walking for about 2 hours along Bull St. to Forsyth Park. Lots of history along the way. You won’t be touring buildings but can do that on your own later, which we did. Rose has great recommendations.
